The Complete History of the Jazwares Sonic the Hedgehog Toyline! [Soundout12 Retrospective]

The Sonic Jazwares line will always hold a special place in my heart. I spent my teenage years hunting down most of these figures and collectibles. It was such an event everytime a new figure was unveiled, call it a single card release, a 2 comic pack or a 3 pack (Chaotix/Big the Cat/Super Hedgehogs/Eggman and Metal Sonic). I will forever cherish my almost complete collection (only missing Sir Lancelot and Storm the Albatross). Still, as enjoyable as purchasing and collecting these figures was, they still had their issues. Several of my figures were never able to stand up properly. Also, distribution for these was a NIGHTMARE; several were ToysRus exclusives, so when I went to the only one I had in my area and heard they were sold out of that one release, I knew I was screwed. Lastly, their one sin and the one thing I will never forgive them for, was not releasing a Rouge figure for us to complete the core line; to me the line will always be incomplete because of the absence of Rouge. Glad nowadays we have Jakks who is giving us the best Sonic figures ever, in the best scale and quality. Jakks has given us characters we dreamed of during the Jazwares era such as Rouge, Omega, and Cream. I'm really hoping we can someday have a complete character rooster with Jakks to fulfill what Jazwares couldn't. Fingers crossed for Tikal, Gamma, Wave, Storm, Mephiles and Zavok.

Jazwares is especially special to me since I have a very fond memory of getting the super pack the day of or after my birthday. Still have all three to this day and none broke!

Just as an addition to your portion for the super figure pack, people were complaining on the orignal super sonic's face paint and how the eyes had black outlines on them, almost like eyeliner. So with the later verison they removed the black eye liner from super sonic.

It was a magical time, collecting the Generations figures, and discovering other characters along the way. Before that I did have some of the Toy Island figures, but most of those really didn't survive. My Jazwares figures are still in good condition despite removing them from the packaging, and my OG Tails figure which might be pre-Toy Island (whatever that other brand was called), has also survived decently well all things considered. But my real question after watching this is...what the hell became of my Kiki?? (I only remembered its existence seeing it pictured at the start here ^^;)

My best friend/brother jovani while going through my middle school years was the general reason my love for sonic and co grew bigger then when i watched sonic x on tv,he not only introduced me to the lovable sonic archie comics but also opened my eyes to the jazwares sonic figures and god me growing up around 2003 i wish i grew up with sonic more as most times when i went to my local Walmart or toys Rus with my step father to go buy gijoe figures i saw these sonic figures but at the time didn't see much interest in them,so nowadays i greatly regret my choices years ago and wish i had bought them sooner,i especially wish i bought the figure of tails years ago as after growing up with him he basically became my fav

Bonus: Soundout, you actually managed to get the rarer Super Pack that came with the cyan Chaos Emerald. Most pictures and physical releases of the Super Pack almost always come with an orange Chaos Emerald in place of the cyan one, one that triggers my sanity to nigh endless levels until Jakks fixed the problem by not going through the orange Emerald fiasco.

Quality wise maybe not the best Figures but damn it I admire the variety of the Figures. Sculpt was good on many figures and I’m forever grateful for these Figures making my childhood.

While Doom's Eye is a decent accessory for Shadow I personally would've gone with the rocket launcher seen in all the promotion images for the Shadow The Hedgehog game

For me…I lost and broke all my Jazzwares figures. So when this happened I wanted to give myself a second chance but because of how freaking expensive they are now a days it’s really hard. Some figures and characters are just gone completely. :( although I do have some sonic Jazzwares figures again (not all that i had when I first had them) but definitely some I used to have. idk if Jazzwares will ever make sonic figures again or get the license again idk if they will but if they do I just hope. I really do like Jakks figures a lot though! Don’t get me wrong! But I just…want to give myself a second chance with Jazzwares. If it ever happens again…. :(

I'm definitely with you on this. As a person from Florida (the state where Jazwares is headquartered), I often refer to myself as "the mastermind of everyone wanting to give Jazwares a second chance."

@@FireFoxGaming_ Tell me about it. The prices are just too high, so high that I gave up on collecting every Sonic 3-inch figure. To be honest, had I been able to buy every Sonic 3-inch figure, I would have used them NOT to create Sonic stop-motions similar to those made by various KZbinrs like Sonictoast and piplupfan77 (I'm not that much of a stop-motion expert), but RATHER to create simple yet awesome Sonic skits similar to those made by KZbinr CarnageCollector.

The Tomy line are in the same scale and the 2” Jakks figures are almost the same scale

I only got the regular 3-inch Sonic. Really wish I'd gotten more. I just can't bring myself to pay those eBay prices. At least Jakks seems to be putting out some good stuff.

There's really only a few more that I really want them to do. Mainly Blaze, Super Silver, and the rest of Chaotix. Also wouldn't say no to Cream, Big, and Froggy. It's very unlikely, but Mephiles would also be cool.

pretty sure the single release of super shadow came out before the 3 pack since compared to sonic and silver, shadow is just a repaint

Jazwares lost the license because they never and I mean never fixed their qc issues they said they did but they didn’t, serves them right! Jakks pacific does a lot better with their qc.

Going to miss godamn jazwares,are the jaks pacifics ones any good..?? The 3 inch line was the most accurate depiction to the characters they are small characters besides from eggman and vector.
