Thanks for the advice! Just got some property in 29 Palms, bordering Joshua Tree but building codes here are a little more strict. Man, if I would have bought five acres north I’d be in the county. Oh well, at least I have city water and a gorgeous view of Indian Cove.

I believe Yucca Valley charges approx 35k for a building permit for a new home. Is there a similar fee in Joshua tree/san Bernardino County? I heard the school fee per SF. Anything other substantial fees from the County ? Thanks !

If you want air-conditioning and all the modern appliances I would budget about $40,000. I've been doing off grid systems for 25 years and people who think they can do it on the cheap get a rude awakening when they try to actually live with a cheap off grid power system. And honestly, I know people that lost their wives! 😂
