Just want to send some gratitude from Texas 8A zone. This video is the reason I decided to grow luffa. It has grown tremendously using compost and fish emulsion. Although sowed late, I’m now waiting for the first flowers to bloom. Hopefully before the end of fall. Great channel!

this is the good thing about living in a tropical country, I just picked a seed from my store bought looufa while I was showering a few weeks ago, put it in a vase, and now I have a little tree unfortunately I don't have the space for them to grow as you showed, maybe I can borrow my family's garden space lol

Thanks for the video. I also failed last year. This year I am going to try to follow and apply what you did. At the end of your video you showed when you were drying. Is it from one seed one plant? How many did you plant? Also I don’t have a trellis. But I have bushes. Can I let it grow on top of the bushes?

Please can you tell me if it would be possible to grow them in Greece, in winter? I have only grown them in summer so far. We don't usually get any frost in winter by the coast. Perhaps it goes down to 4*c at night.

This was very informative! Planing to challenge myself on loofa growing next year so this helped with many nice tips to keep in mind! What would be a good idea for fertilizers?

I’m so happy that I could be of help and hope you find success next season. I found a granular 14-14-14 at the big box store but you can blend something personal if you want. I use Down To Earth fertilizers in the rest of my vegetable garden and I have links to them in the videos description! (Products we Love)

That's awesome. Thanks for the video. I'm growing meaty loofa and long loofa. Didn't know any of your tricks, and they're really small right now. You mentioned 14 14 14. I'm looking to get some, but I thought it was a liquid. Before I knew what to do I just planted them with compost and topsoil mix and some manure. I sprinkled on Milorganite 6-2-0, just recently. Not sure what else to do

They like it really warm. I think what you’ve done so far is good. Just be patient. See what happens once the weather warms up and gets hot. They’ll really start to grow.

lovely vid. great tips for loofah. some of mine went a bit mouldy, now i have learnt how to avoid that, excellent, thanks only one little sad thing... opening bags and mixing their contents isn't making your own soil. pls try n use less store bought fertilizer and soil. we must reduce plastics. brilliant to see young people getting involved in gardening. so, overall massive applause and congratulations. 💚💚💚

I saw a comment that someone soaked the seeds overnight before planting, but I didn't see that in the video. Maybe I missed it? Just wondering if you recommend soaking the seeds before planting and if so, for how long?

my loofas have yet to flower, Z6 september 14th. currently twelve and a half daylight hours today I have a single plant with around 50' of total vines thriving in this cloudy rainy year. I'm still not even seeing buds, but I have been spotting carpenter ants. Going to give the entire greenhouse a once over with insect killing soap and neem oil. I've given all my plants a bonemeal feeding two weeks ago. Am I missing something obvious? I've been fertilizing and neem oiling as-needed but am I missing something?

Thanks for this video! I also visited your Etsy store,, which says you dispatch from Canada-the garden in your video, is it in Canada, and which part? Just curious-I usually garden on Vancouver Island, but a recent move to Nova Scotia has me adjusting planting dates and I am determined to grow these gourds. So far, 8 of 10 seeds have germinated on the windowsill-the easy part!

I have a follow up question for you! I have a 2’ x 4’ garden bed (in ground) I’m planning to use for the luffa in the spring. With that space, and if I use a 16’ x 50in cattle panel as an arch trellis, what would you say a safe number of plants would be? From what I understand I could plant 2 per sq Ft, but I feel like that would end up being too many plants for a single cattle panel…I’d love to hear your thoughts! I could also do two panels and tunnel them if need be. Thanks in advance!
@earthnailsandtails
@earthnailsandtails Жыл бұрын
Great question! In a 2x4 bed I would plant no more than 2. I’d actually recommend planting one for every 3-4sqft but I think 2 will do okay in that space 👍🏼
