No you’re fine. I would honestly be shocked if there were unironic fans of that pairing. I think that pattern is intentional as an example of the “sins of the father” trope where you just end up inheriting your parents baggage and unknowingly repeating their mistakes. That and I can see Lisa settling for Mulhouse after years of failed ambition and precarious ennui making her feel like that was the best she was going to get.

I think the real message of this is that despite Lisa looking down at Marge sometimes for making poor life choices (not questioning the sexism she was raised with, not finishing college, marrying a slob...) she won't make much better choices, and she may have more in common with her mother than she thinks.

I genuinely feel bad for Milhouse. His parents are truly, truly fucking awful people and not even like Homer bad. Homer actually cares about his kids and family, he's just an idiot who doesn't think. Millhouses parents, I am firmly convinced, don't care about him at all. He has one friend, and while Bart can be a decent friend, he can also be an ass so this makes it worse. On top of this, every success Milhouse has ever had crumbles around him almost immediately. I'm honestly not shocked he's got an obsession with Lisa, shes one of the few people who's ever remained in his life who actually cares at all,even if it's not romantically. Like, the poor guy just needs one win to stick

Lisa isn’t a descendant from Eliza Simpson, as Mabel Simpson (Eliza’s mother) remarried to Virgil and having their own kid called Abraham the first. The whole modern day Simpson family are descendants from Virgil and not Eliza

My favourite episode of the Simpsons is “Homer Defined” where Milhouse is mother forbidden the boys being friends and Marge sticks up for Bart. It showed how much the relationship meant so much to both boys and showed how Marge will always support her son. Plus, it such a real life circumstance, where childhood friends are separated because of adult issues and I always liked the real life based episodes.

Honestly Millhouse is done dirty In the future (ignoring the Zombie thing) because he’s basically used as a way to show Lisa’s relationship progression and contrasting him with Nelson for the will they won’t they. Outside of the brief time in prison during his teens he didn’t really change much. Lisa and Mulhouse armt related, at the end of the episode when Abe reveals Marges character ended up with the runaway (sorry I can’t remember his name) he says: so you armt related to Heim. Happy? Which means Eliza Simpson the daughter of Heim isn’t Lisa’s direct ancestor, but the half sister of current simpsons direct ancestors they only share the same last name because Virgil didn’t have one so it would be virgils kids the simpsons are descended from directly which would make them still technically related but not as much as if they were elizas direct descendent
