No one can beat the interpretation of the song Alegria in the voice of singer Francesca Gagnon... the original version has already acquired its own identity, whether due to its vocal style, pronunciation, accent and even the sensitivity and emotion given to the song by the Canadian artist.

I'm 29 and can agree that the song must not be altered. The voice of Francesca is what made everything so captivating. Something you can relate it to is the theme song of Star Wars. Everyone knows it, every one loves it, everyone knows what it means. DON'T CHANGE IT. :)

I love cirque du soleil and the new Alegria as it's described in this video is not bad at all but I have to say that the old music especially with the accordion had something so magic and beautiful that I cannot find in the new music. I also miss the old singers of Alegria and their voices. I didn't see the show live yet but I will and I hope so bad that seeing the new Alegria live will bring back the magic

Just watch the "hoops" video on this channel and you can compare Elena's acts then and now ... and the current one is FAR WORSE because of the choices of colour alone. Everything mixes together in a sea of PASTELs ... so you cant see the hoops moving anymore, because the background is LIGHT COLOUR ... and the air has lots of dust particles which creates a bit of a "fog" to make it less crisp.

This show is very special to me. I discovered in 2013 when I was 12 years old, two months before to the end of the show. These seven years, my dream to the return of the show is done, and when I saw the news of the return of Alegria, I started to cry. Nowadays, I'm 19 years old, and I have the hope that this show visit Mexico and if this happens, I'm going to cry a lot. Cirque du Soleil you are my childhood Thanks for everything.

It haunted me (in a passionate way) for 20 years and randomly happened to be in Montreal July 2019. I was in shock when I saw a tent and the words ALEGRIA. It was a dream come true. I did not know it was there or that they were there because of their 20 year anniversary. It was literally pure MAGIC. I listen to it daily on Spotify when I am walking my 2 hours. It reaches my soul and changes my mood to a good mood and takes my stress away. THIS IS MAGIC.

I do agree with all of commentaries, the original Alegria was amazing, magical, it was what I always thought a circus should be like and always compared other circus shows to it and never came close to Alegria. I saw it when I was 10 years old I am now 38 and still remember the guy the made a tower with the chairs as he climbed to the top. That was the first time I ever felt a mixture of anxiety and excitement in my life, yet it made me fall in love with with music and cirque du soleil.

I've seen 9 Cirque du Soleil shows so far and the original Alegria is, by far, my favorite. The voice of the original Singer in White is so magical. I was so excited to see the re-imagined version that was supposed to come to Austin, TX at the end of April. I'm sad that the show had to be canceled. I hope that it will be rescheduled.

Its NOT a new show ... it is a show which PRETENDS to be "the old show" ... in a sense it is FAKE NEWS, a cheap knock-off ... which - if they had set out to create something original - would probably have been better. The RHETORIC OF "CREATIVES" to "modernise" / "adapt to today" / "todays perspective" or the granddaddy: "we need a new art style/new art" have been used for over a century to destroy or disregard the achievements of the past.

As a huge fan of the original Alegria, and then seeing the show in Denver, CO, in the early 2000s, I had my doubts that Cirque could remake the show with fresh new ideas while keeping "true" to the original story (not that you had to remain true, but this old guy is sometimes resistant to change). After seeing them in July of 2022 in Portland, OR, I want to say that the people of Cirque pulled it off, and how! Some new acts, some changes, and some things that brought back the memories of the original. I am beyond impressed with the dedication and abilities of all the performers to bring a story to life and somehow at the same time they make me feel as though I am part of it. All of you at Cirque made this 57 year old man lose myself in the story for two hours and believe in the magic. Hats off to all for what you do each and every performance.

i saw alegria in tokyo harajuku in 1996 when i was 10, it was a hugh shock to me, i was overwhelmed, i fell in love. and especially i loved Elena Lev's performance. she was my idol at the time. i wanted to be like her. now i found out that she is still active, im am so happy.

First off, I'm a HUGE fan of Cirque Du Soleil!!! It's amazing to see the backstory on how the show has changed over 25 years. I first saw the original show on DVD (Which I own). Then first time I saw the show live was on February 27, 2010 and even then the show had some small changes from the original. I just saw this show again for the second time on March 7, 2020 and loved the new acts that have been added with the original acts!!!

I love the video, but as a multimillion dollar company that is all about bringing entertainment and fun for all, please for the love of god Cirque, please get subtitles. You can shuffle out the money to make sure at least your workers who want to watch, can understand what everyone is saying! And my deaf friend who loves Cirque couldn't really understand without me, and even then I struggled to convey to them. Cirque, please get subtitles for the love of god!

I attended the original Alegria in Minnesota and was blown away. Especially loved the music (Francesca), Fast Track, etc... It was something I will never forget. Plus I purchased the DVD and renew my love for this performance every year. The costumes were incredibly inventive, the people especially talented in what they excelled in. I loved most all of it except for the strong man and the fire baton twirler, was a bit lackluster after the previous acts. Just Beautiful and I didn't like any of the other performances like Quidam, etc. as much as Alegria which is probably why it is getting a remake. I don't really understand why a remake is necessary but I will definitely go see it. Thank you to everyone that participated in the original Alegria, a wonderful cast of individuals with many talents.

A lot of people hated the revision when it first came out without even seeing it live. I've seen both and I have to prefer the new one over the old. I'm not a big fan of the palette changes for the new show but my god the new acts and updated songs are amazing!!! If it comes back to Toronto, I would definitely see it again!

I performed solo clarinet for a Cirque du Soleil suite almost 10 years ago now, and Alegria was the opening song. The conductor for the concert band I played with debated whether to have someone sing. I know I was on that list for those who could do it. He ultimately decided against it, but I still think about the chance I had to sing such an iconic song. I was 13.
