Is he (as his website claims) "a giant of fundamentalism"? Or is he something else? Climb onboard as I talk about the man, the myth, and the problem of Jack Hyles.

Our former pastor Mike Allison is a Jack Hyles follower. I quit the IFB in 1992, and have never set foot in one of their churches since.

People should never attend a church that worships a man, but don’t put every IBC in the same category. I have never been in one like they are often portrayed. There are bad apples in every denomination. It is a trend in our wicked, perverted days. You have to evaluate each one individually, and it takes a while. Don’t join too quickly.

I appreciate what you said, i myself got saved in an independent fundamentalist baptist church. In 1985, I thought Jack Hyles could do no wrong. Bought tapes listened to all his messages. But it taught me so much, I don’t put any man upon a pedestal anymore. Never listen to a preacher without making sure it lines up with Gods word.

You're definitely right about the quick salesmanship style of "soul winning." When I was there, the emphasis was on, "Get them to pray," so you would use whatever smooth-talking method worked so that you could say you had people pray with you.

I met this man personally. I also went to IFB my entire life. Jack Hyles had so many naysayers against him my whole life but his messages hit you in the soul because he was USED by God. These "sins" have never been proven. If you've never set foot in his church and heard him speak you have no true idea of what he believed and how his relationship with God was. A lot of what he believed was hard to swallow but so we're many of the preacher's and prophets in the Bible. Yes, his legacy is complicated because he felt God called him to say the uncomfortable truth.

Thankyou for raising many interesting points. Another thing that you didn't mention was the constant alter calls in IBF churches which felt like weekly guilt trips. On one hand salvation seemed so easy but on the other hand you had to repent every week or make a decision in order for God to approve of you. I found this confusing and damaging as a younger person

I enjoy this. I've always wonder about him. Also, there's some things I like about Jack. Ask some things I don't. But we're living a time of counterfeits. The downfall, a very preacher, will always be fame. Money women until we as the people of God stop elevating. These men as God. Then maybe there'll be a change we're living in the last days. I don't believe that Jack Hyles started the door-knocking; his mentor, John R Rice, started making it mandatory for teachers. Jack Hyles took this and heavily emphasized it.

I JUST took an interest in Jack Hyles the other day. As a truck driver, I have plenty of time to listen to sermons. So i have listened to about 8 or 10 of his sermons in the past day and then your video pops up all of a sudden. I did you the courtesy of listening to your video in its entirety and i have a few things to say. First of all, neither of us knew the man Jack Hyles personally. It is clear from his sermons that he was very close to the Lord and that his doctrine was scripturally based, rather than being based on Dispensationalism which is widely accepted as a man made system, and is flawed from beginning to end. I was raised a dispensationalist, but i never believed it. What i do know is that Dispensationalists like to attack non-dispensationalists without proving from the scriptures whether those things be so. The Bible tells us to prove all things. Many great men have proven Dispensationalism to be completely flawed. That subject aside, the fact that the gospel is easy to believe and easy to receive is easily provable from Acts chapter 10. The Bible says Acts 10:43-44 KJV To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. [44] While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Now i am not a pentacostal, and i am not trying to prove speaking in tongues. But Baptists throw this scripture out with the bathwater because they are scared of tongues and they miss the truth, which is that these men were not repenting, they were not praying, they were not doing anything but listening to the gospel presentation and believed it and received the Holy Spirit, which the Bible says was evidence of their salvation. These men, ALL of them, got saved sitting and listening to preaching. So i would say it is a light thing then that getting saved is as easy as believing and accepting the gospel and praying a simple prayer to call on the name of the Lord as we're told to do in Romans 10:9-10. I would ask you to go and study this. And while youre at it, look up the 1828 definition of repent because it doesn't have anything to do with turning from sin. Another flawed teaching.

Hyle's easy believism and tactics are just wrong, but when I heard about the accusations against him with his secretary, I didn't know what to think. Many years later, I found interviews on YT of both Hyles' daughter and the secretary's husband. Hyles' daughter and the secretary's husband's interviews revealed what type of character they have by their own spoken word. If the accusers were above reproach, I'd have thought differently. But those two definitely left a bad taste in my mouth enough so that I don't believe them one iota. After listening to them, I that believe that Jack was innocent of the affair.
@michaelalford70062 ай бұрын
That's certainly a fair assessment. Had I been a counselor to Hyles back then, I would have counseled him to step down for the ministries sake until his innocence or guilt could be established either way. Instead it looks like Hyles and those in his orbit doubled down and stonewalled.
@teesbytom62322 ай бұрын
Easy believism is actually just that if you knew the Bible. But see I HATE flies, mosquitos, wasps, fire ants, roaches etc. etc. Therefore the creator knowingly/purposefully created them all so logic demands that I hate the creator of said creatures which of course I do. Think about it because the creator does NOT have to create anyone/anything he does not want to create.

The Bible also says in the last verse of Revelation 21 verse 27- “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.” Everyone has told a lie at some point. Telling one lie makes me liar but my name is written in the lambs book of life also. The way I understand and reconcile this is that my flesh, that is my old man is what commits sin as explained in Romans 7. My flesh “the liar” that defileth will not enter in to heaven but my new man the regenerated spirit will enter in. I don’t see repentance in regards to salvation as turning from sin or giving up sin out of your life to be saved I believe u have to admit your a sinner and realize u need to be saved but turning from your evil ways is works according to Jonah 3:10.

10 When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it. How is this supporting your point?
@beenballinsince94889 ай бұрын
@@mombythesea2426 Well Jonah 3:10 in the KJV, which hasn’t been corrupted and was translated from the original text says “And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not” According to God, turning from your evil way (Sin) is works. When he saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. Also notice that God himself repented in this verse. He didn’t repent of sin, he doesn’t have any sin. He just changed his mind and chose not to destroy Nineveh. Repenting doesn’t always have sin associated with it. Sometimes it does but in regard to salvation is does not because turning from sin is works. We’re saved by grace through faith alone. Repentance in regard to salvation is changing your mind or turning from whatever you were trusting in for salvation and putting your faith in Christ. Many people trust in their own righteousness to get to heaven, they must repent of that and put their trust in Christ alone.
@mombythesea24269 ай бұрын
@@beenballinsince9488 The Hebrew word for the people turning from their sin is H7725. It means to turn from or repent. The word for God changing his mind is H5162. It means to pity, be sorry, or be moved to compassion. It can mean repent in a sense, but not from sin since God doesn't sin. H7725 is used for repenting from sin, which means to turn. The verse literally means they turned from their sin and God had compassion on them and saved them.
@beenballinsince94889 ай бұрын
@@mombythesea2426 I agree, my only point was that God equated them turning from sin as works. So if someone thinks they have to turn from sin to be saved then they’re trying to be saved by works according to God

Hyles made big mistakes like making Dave youth minister while he was still at HAC and not ordained. Making Schaap his successor was totally unbiblical in that it is the sole duty of the deacons to pray and fast and get direction from God as I'm to who should be in that place. I was gone from the church at that time but I knew I Jeff Owens was a more likely choice from an outside view at that time.
