I'm mid-way through installing the same Gila Tatanium on my apartment windows. I got 10 of 18 done. I can definitely feel the difference already. Thanks for the video!

What’s the end result, can you raise your ac and does it stay cool?
@VagendaAdnegav2 жыл бұрын
@@JJ-gr7th I used to run 3 AC Units in my apartment, each set to 16 degrees Celsius to achieve about 22 degrees Celsius inside. The three would run at full bore all day. Now I'm running 2 of the AC units at 22 with ECO Mode on, and selling one of the AC Units today actually. The 2 AC units run far less to achieve, in my opinion, superior cooling results now that the windows are treated. It's pretty amazing. I can see how this is going to save money. I'm still awaiting getting the final 6 windows treated, as well. Waiting for one more roll of the Gila to arrive in my local Home Depot.

Once u take off the layer off does The sticky part goes out or inside
@VagendaAdnegav4 ай бұрын
@@jesse1068 The side from which you remove the protective film goes against the glass, but it isn't really sticky until you have sprayed that side, and sprayed the glass, with the liquid treatment. The liquid helps the two cling to one another. You use a tool to flatten out all the ripples and bubbles and get it perfect (or close to) and then let it sit overnight to essentially cure. Hope that helps.

I so wish I would have watched one of the more realistic videos before I installed this stuff. This video makes it look easy and it is NOT. It is a frustrating nightmare! Since I was installing it myself and don't have 3-4 hands, I was not able to spray the product as I separated it from the backing, so it actually attracts itself, sticks together like tape and is nearly impossible to get apart! Not to mention that when you do finally get it apart, the product is left with wrinkles that show up after installation. One tip that I'm not sure you mentioned here that is important (I discovered) is to do it while the window is cool because otherwise you don't have much time to get the film stuck before the fluid dries.
@KristenKoehler69 Жыл бұрын
Next time try Concord Window Film. It has a dry adhesive that only activates with water so when you remove the film's liner it isn't sticky. It also is thicker so it doesn't wrinkle.

One of the best videos on windows film installation. Will this damage the double-panel windows glass? Thanks
@MK67934 Жыл бұрын
I say yes. I only placed it on one window and now there is condestation between both panes which means the seal got damaged. My only assumption. It should be done external side of window to reflect the heat not internal window since that gas will expand damage the seal

I have bubbles in the one I have installed and have waited 24 hours hoping they would go away. Not sure how to proceed.

I just installed the Gila wt on two windows. After the second install i went back to first window and placed my hand on the tint. It was surprisingly very warm. I went to the untinted window to my left and it was noticably cooler? Extremely puzzled i grabbed my surface temp thermometer and tested temps at both locations. The tinted window was radiating a 10 degree higher temp than the non tinted window. I thought I was going crazy and checked the temps two more times. No difference. Theres only one way to place the tint on with "sticky" side to window face. I took the tint off because a 10 degree higher temp will radiate into the room and elevate temps. Very puzzled?
@grzybolscrx Жыл бұрын
Well, looks like the IR energy has benn dissipated on the tint ( instea being reflected) If not installed it will heat up room anyway.
@KyleHatch21 Жыл бұрын
This is correct. It slows the rate of UV radiation into the room. Some will be reflected away, and the rest will still enter but at a slower rate. Understanding basic thermodynamics and having realistic expectations is key here.
@KristenKoehler69 Жыл бұрын
All window film will absorb more solar energy than an unfilmed window. The key is not to measure the temp at the glass but to measure the temp on the floor in front of the window before and after.

Wouldn't it make more sense to install it outside the window to keep the heat out? If the heat reflects off the film it still heats the glass up therefore you will still get thermal bridging into the house from the window getting hot
