I love the Christmas Chronicles episodes. You can sense how excited and jolly they all were and excited about the rapid acceleration and future of the technology. Sad to see Gary here in such a happy episode knowing how his life ended though I’m happy Stuart & co continued the show for many years.

Producer: "OK guys this is a Christmas special so I want you all to wear Santa hats." Gary: 😋"I'm game for a laugh, sure" Paul: 😋"Teeheehee I'm already wearing one!" Jan: 😋"Awwww I want to buy my hair." Stuart:🤨"Fuck you guys. I ain't wearing shit. Hats make you go bald. I'm already fighting a losing battle on that front!"

29:29 - I absolutely loved Shufflepuck Cafe as a kid. I was at some kind of big office party at my dad's work and some of the computers were set up with games, and I was playing Shufflepuck like non-stop. Then somebody was like, hey kid, you should try this other game. And I was like, what could possibly be more fun than Shufflepuck Cafe? (The other game was Wing Commander... so, yeah...)

Conversely, this also meant that the expensive PC you bought today could be a paperweight next year. There are definite upsides to PCs becoming affordable commodities.

Watching this I’m reminded how lucky we are to be able to play with advanced technology and be part of the conversation that surrounds it without being rich or at work or in academia.

Arkaid D a bit off topic but I really like your profile picture. Nice artstyle. If you drew it or you know who drew it could you hit me in that direction of your or their art gallary, or maybe it is from a manga?

11:23 remember when we had to deep discharge batteries? And remember the time when we had to tell people they should not do that with lithium batteries? The same with hard-drives where you have to defragment it to gain speed boost but you should not do that with solid state drives because again this will be bad for them. How things change.

I know this is an old comment, but you're comparing the lowest end budget modern laptop to the highest end consumer laptop back in 1988. Highest end consumer laptops today actually cost as much as $10,000.

@@wonderpierrot This - also love these videos are always full of predictable low-hanging fruit comments about how comparatively primitive and expensive all the tech on these shows are.
