Lol, yes, funny that the show *specifically* on sound has the voice and music on separate channels...

I'm glad I have my computer hooked up to a stereo receiver. I just press the "mono" button and this video is watchable.

Wow,I was in 10th grade and never had cable to watch this show.I was trying to make beats using my little brother s, Casio keyboard and recording to his playschool tape recorder.I wanted a ASR 10 but my mom said no.I was about to land a record deal with MCA and Kedar as a rap artist at 16 in 97.I didn't get to use actual equipment till 2000 in college.Using sound edit 16,sound designer II and Digi design Protools.I was lucky that a graphic designer sold me his schools all in one g3 and it had all the software to use in my interactive media major studies.I still have my Macs with all that software.Also building websites with html and fusion was awesome.Made my first platinum hit at college in 2000.Also we learned cyber security upon making software on Q basic and Ms dos.Wow how now using these tools are vintage.My crew and me were working on a website like Facebook at that time .This show is awesome never heard nor have seen this till 2022!smh

Cable? This was on PBS. Was there no PBS station where you lived, or did it not carry this show?

So crazy to think that all the way back in 1997 they were already experimenting with different groove/swing presets. I used to manually nudge all my notes back when I was programming in Cakewalk around this time.
@mikemeengs57202 жыл бұрын
I had to do the same on my ASR-10 sampling workstation. It took forever, but it was the only way to swing on that machine.
@jasongonzalez28562 жыл бұрын
Actually swing was being manipulated long before because of teddy R music Using an mpc or an sp1200 made this a wonderful style .Now it is not used because of the trap style.

I have always wanted to be able to write my own sheet music and now I know that there is a computer program that can do that for me. 🤔

This was really still on '97..? Damn. Pure advertising, well, that why this could go on that long I guess.
@huseman212 жыл бұрын
Ha, They are exaggerating just a bit. Even today nobody has been able to write software to just use a microphone to record an instrument straight to midi. They have improved on guitars, but that also takes expensive electronics added to the guitar but it cant track very fast.

I think with autotune in the mix, its entirely plausible.

What you described to me was demonstrated to me at a children's museum in 1992. I dare say its advanced somewhat since then

The video literally shows software generating MIDI from vocal audio... 25 years ago.
@opts92 жыл бұрын
Ableton Live 9 had Audio to MIDI built in, that came out around 2013 I think
@brandnaqua2 жыл бұрын
you can do it in Logic Pro using Flex Pitch & i think ableton has the feature too
