I remember my dad used to video chat with family in the early 2000s. When the Yankees beat the Mets in the 2000 Subway Series, he sent a picture of his ass to my uncle LMAO

The MS thing at the end was kind of stupid. Everyone had a DVD player by 2002 and most could read SVCD. SVCD has a high res photo mode and that is how I used to do it. The great thing about it is you could just mail the SVCD (which uses standard CDs) and your friends/family could view them. What's really great is that they still work! You can still do this in Nov 2016. I don't know anyone without a DVD player, except maybe BluRay, but I am not sure if Blu Ray players can deal with SVCD.

Been 2 years ago, but just had to throw in that disc-based systems are actually becoming harder to find these days. Many homes no longer have a desktop system at all.

@@oldtwinsna8347 I’ve got VHS, DVD, CD, and cassette players in my entertainment system, but I realize that these machines are thought of as garbage. Even though this system would be worth thousands of dollars when the devices were built and they all represent their formats in the highest quality.

reviving an old comment. it's 2023 and I don't think I know anyone that still has a disk player at all. None of my laptops have a disk tray and haven't in the last 5-6 years or so.

@@enda0man I have 2 standalone DVD players, a CD player component in my stereo and a DVD player/burning in my computer. I have a large collection of compact cassettes and CDs. They work as good as the day I got them. I have 4 digital devices with my music on that I can no longer access.

I love that weird webcam conversation where they communicate by chat and never really look at the camera or wave or whatever. And they sure are excited about their glasses and haircuts 😬

I don't know who I feel more sorry for, the poor sap who wasted their time and money on live streaming a webcam of their fridge, or the actual one poor sap that bothered to watch it.

Ditto. I have had a QuickCam Express (1999), QuickCam Messenger (2004), QuickCam Pro 5000 (2005) and QuickCam Pro 9000 (2007). I may have had one or two more in-between. I currently have a Logitech C615 (2016), though I have not used webcams in many years.
