I had a cassette of this made by a friend and we would drive all over town listening to this at full volume in my little toyota celica 1981-82 ish.....? Great underrated band.

Still have my vinyl...listen and play along to it every now and then...What an appropriate song for today..."here comes a great big wave, we'll wash this place right down the drain"... Floods due to automotive excess...Ballardian.

Under appreciated band. Great debut album.

Great song, the snare sound reminds me of Bowie's Low. Too bad there probably won't be any re-presses of this album in LP format any time soon.

Did these guys name themselves after the J.G. Ballard story?
@ryanjackson342810 ай бұрын
I'm going to say yes. The song itself is quite Ballardian. The following lyrics are almost right out of Crash, for instance: In the dark a thousand Cars hiss by my window A steel tide on a asphalt beach They come and they go I hear a beat in the motor seat That I could die too She says "A town is just a town, full stop." But what does she know?
@ihhaahhhhhaaa7 ай бұрын
@@ryanjackson3428 It's very likely. Other post-punk bands from the same era such as Joy Division did have songs named after books too.
@muckamuckofgleep7 күн бұрын
@@ryanjackson3428 Quite so - and 'My Mind's Eye' must surely have been written with regard to Poul Anderson's SF classic 'Tau Zero' ("turn it off - how we tried!")

Songs don't get much more menacing and forbidding as this. "Post punk genius"

Not that menacing at all.. more of an elation of resignation that the Comsats did so well

Does anyone know if there exists an extended version of this track? I love when guitar kicks in at the very end but its a shame that it fades out.

Great Track. Frustrating fade at end while guitar is in full gear. ✔ it out.
