The Concert Choir of Georgetown University gives the world premiere of the cantata Simon Bore the Cross by African American composer Margaret Bonds (1913-1972), with words by Langston Hughes. This work, once thought to be lost, was not performed during the composer’s lifetime and is based on the spiritual He Never Said a Mumblin’ Word.
