smita is excited as she reads the newspaper announcement of a concert by pandit ravishankar
and Ustad Allah Rakha'. Both Smita and her brother are taking sitar lessons. Her brother Anant is the best table-tennis player in the school and the fastest runner. He is only fifteen but struck with incurable cancer. The family comes to Bombay for his treatment at the cancer hospital and stays with Smita is excited as she reads the newspaper announcement of a concert by Pandit RavishankarAunt Sushila.
Her father agrees to get the tickets and the two of them are about to leave for the concert when her brother smiles and says lucky you'.
At the concert, Smita is spellbound, while listening to the unfolding ragas. She has a plan in mind. At the end of the concert, she nervously goes up to both, the Pandit and the Ustad and narrates her story with hands folded.
Both of them agree to come to her house to perform for her brother. The following morning, both of them visit the apartment, sit down on the divan, play for the boy, surround him with great ane beautiful happiness, as life goes out of him very gently.
Ravi Shankar KBE, whose name is often preceded by the title Pandit, was an Indian sitar virtuoso and a composer. He was the best-known proponent of the sitar in the second half of the 20th century and influenced many other musicians throughout the world
