Agree. We are now a society of idealism, ivory tower on steroids. This plane the green set love to hate represents nations cooperating minus losing identity. If it upsets you lot so severely, please agree to payments to compensate every single Airbus employee.

10:00 - Aw bless. I remember watching the BBC Concorde Special as a nipper when Capt. Norris was a First Officer. His impending promotion to Captain meant he'd be on the short-haul fleet for the foreseeable future - nice to see he made it back into Concorde.

Oh barracuda... showing your ignorance again? It seems that you only open your mouth to change feet! Here are some facts: The muzzle velocity of firearms span a huge variety of numbers. Many 9mm rounds (pistol and MP5) are actually subsonic but let's look at your claim that Concorde was not faster than a rifle bullet. .22 rifle bullets have a wide variety of muzzle velocities that range from of between 1,000 fps (680 mph) fps to about 1,300 fps (886 mph) for typical rim-fire cartridges. A 7.62 NATO round has a typical muzzle velocity of 2,700 fps (1,840 mph)while the M-16 .223 (5.56mm NATO) round has a muzzle velocity of around 3200 fps (2,100 mph). So the range of rifle bullet muzzle velocities goes from subsonic (less than 760 mph) to Mach 3 depending on the propellant load an the mass of the bullet. Concorde cruised at 1,350mph or 1,980 fps.(I know I flew on her in 1999) So, in fact, Concorde did cruise faster than a rifle bullet in fact almost twice as fast as a very common type of common .22 round... Oh and Concorde cruised at 60,000'. No available or planned commercial passenger aircraft has equalled it or is likely to. At 60,000' the atmosphere is only 10% that of sea level so pretty damn close to space. Oops... Do you get tired of being wrong? Apparently not. Time to change feet barracuda!!

11:38 I dont think they ever had to use the yellow knob on real flights. It had to be used when blue or green hyd system came offline for some reason, this way the failed system could be replaced by the yellow system that was normally not used by flight controls. I don't think it ever happened on real flight.

I sincerely hope the efforts to bring a supersonic transport back are fruitful & she'll be able to fly everywhere without any fear at all with out sonic booms effecting people's lives

Unfortunately you cannot fly a supersonic aircraft without causing a sonic boom; that's a simple fact of aerodynamic design...

Since it was BOAC or British Airways, I’m presuming there wasn’t any way for _Concorde_ to fly routes between the U.S. West Coast and Hawaii. (I don’t know but presume only domestic U.S. airlines are allowed to fly American domestic routes.) Certainly Los Angeles and quite possibly cities like San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle would have had a sufficiently wealthy base of customers to provide the demand for the flights. These would have been ideal as all but the last dozen or so miles on either end of the trip would have been supersonic and a very effective demonstration of their incredible time-savings that _Concorde_ would have provided, literally halving travel time from 5 to less than 2.5 hours. Likewise, trips between Hawaii and major coastal cities in Australia and possibly New Zealand would have likely been financially practical too and filled a demand for significant time savings to travel over such vast distances supersonically, turning an over 10.5 hour trip between Honolulu and Sydney into a 5 hour flight. If they could have provided connecting _Concorde_ flights between the U.S. West Coast and Sydney via Honolulu, turning about a 16 hour flight into about a 8 hour flight, including the time needed to transfer passengers and baggage to another waiting _Concorde_ or to refuel the same plane.

Faster than a rifle bullet, on the edge of space ??? Do these people really think that the general public is idiots ?? Faster than a rifle bullet so which rifle bullet?? 17 century brown musket ?? yes definitely ..With a speed of 1350 miles an hour Concorde is nowhere the speeds of todays modern assault rifle bullets in 5.56 and even the heavier 7.62 calibers..Why these Concorde pilots always lie ?? edge of space?? 56.000 feet cruising altitude space?? kiss my ass mister. Any altitude below 100.000 feet is not considered anywhere near the space Todays modern business jets fly at these altitudes + 50.000 feet . These documents are far from reality, full of emotional sentiments..

What an epic fail. Agreed that it is a super sonic flight which had a potential to make the world a smaller place. Having said that, so much research and money spent on it - All of that now feels shear waste considering that so few were made and a very limited few people actually flew on the concorde. Only BA and AF flew it regularly, and that too because the respective governments invested profusely on it.
