Seeing policemen now brings to mind the term "Starmtrooper" lol. Enjoyed the walk about, it's very close to Denham and Bucks where I used to take long walks all the time.

There's a little lane in Chesham called Mineral lane. The first house is called Mineral cottage. It has a couple of plaques. 0ne says built in 1821 and the other says site of Chalybeate spring. A chalybeate spring is one that is rich in iron salts. Chesham museum website says that the name of the river changed from Isen to Chess at around about the same time. Watercress grows in iron rich waters and Chesham had loads of watercress. I reckon the silly buggers capped the spring to build a house.

We live in Kettering, Northants, we can see the River Ise from our house, now wondering if it was named because of the iron ore around here. We have a lot of local history of ironworks in the area so it would make sense. We've really enjoyed watching your videos, really interesting stuff. All the best Fiona & Neil

I grew up in the village of Croxley Green just down the road from Sarratt and used to play in the river Chess as a child.

Such a lovely bit of peaceful countryside and yet it's only spitting distance from the M25, i'm surprised we can't hear it in the background. Lovely bit of river as well 👍.

The terracing could be neolithic or iron age farming. Fascinating video.

As usual, very interesting ! I suspect that the church was placed on an old settlement. Possibly in a part that was a Pagan site of worship. The Christian church had a habit of doing that. They tried to erect a Priory on a hill near to me.But that didn't end well, and they had to put it in a different spot. 🤣
