Ryan is a full on believer in the paranormal and usually takes the whole investigation more seriously than Shane, which is very true when they do their solo tours near the end of each episode. While Shane is the complete opposite of Ryan. He's a skeptic and taunts the ghost and/or ghouls anytime he gets since he doesn't think they can do anything to him. On his solo tours, he'll just fuck around with objects at the location while constantly yelling at the spirits to do stuff like throw him down the stairs, throw something at him, grab him, etc. There are rare times where Shane has been a believer but it's really rare.

I wouldn't even mind them so much if they were having some random spooky fun with a made-up ghost (not based on anyone real who has died). There is a reason spiritualism/séances/psychics took off post-WWI. They were exploiting grieving people (mostly women -- mothers, wives, sisters).

@Kaspar.C0LD9 ай бұрын
I just posted a long comment about this exact thing myself. To sum it up joint popping is and effect of putting pressure on a joint causing gas to escape. It's easily repeatable and since Leukemia goes after bones after treatment the bones will be a bit thinner -- meaning it would be _easier_ to manipulate a joint to cause gas to move around the synovial joint (just a lubricated membrane covered joint, like your knee or.... 😮 ankle) in turn causing the popping. Thinning of the bones could also make the joint more "cavernous", which would mean a larger area of force compressing out a bit more encapsulated gas making a louder popping/cracking sound. Satori even said "if he popped his joint he wouldn't be able to get it back in because Leukemia". You don't dislocate a joint and reset it to pop in the first place, so that claim makes no sense. I, for one, can open my hands up wide and close them in a fist and all my knuckles will pop, which I can repeatedly do. It only causes irritation or pain if I do it back-to-back 5+ times within a couple of seconds. With the span that Cody does it -ironically my name is also Cody- there would be little to no joint inflammation.

So, it's not on 'haters' (aka logical people) to debunk them, it's on people like Cody and Satori to prove they aren't bullshitting (which they are). Cody and Satori just make me mad. Despite what they say, they ARE doing this for money. They work with the Conjuring House and are getting paid for this. They are using people’s dead loved ones to make money. What specifically got me was the comment with Dakota’s grandfather and him “getting his memory back”. That comment made me so mad because watching a family member’s mind deteriorate and watching them forget who you are and everything they’ve gotten to experience is HEARTBREAKING!! And these two just brought back those memories for Dakota with that comment that they didn’t need to make! What kind of person finds out that someone’s loved one had dementia before they died and then says that that same loved one got their memory back, ESPECIALLY if this is all fake(which is most likely is) is such a cruel thing to do!! There are so many people who would probably pay anything to talk to their loved ones again, myself included, and Cody and Satori are using that against innocent people. It’s just so heartless!

So, not about Leukemia, but I have several degenerative diseases and the reason Satori cited wasn't just the cancer, but the deterioration of the joints/bones. That said... her claims are 100% bullshit. Having deteriorating joints makes it SO MUCH MORE EASIER to pop than if they were healthy. It's like saying... "I can't go ice skating because I have blades for feet"... uh... isn't that ideal? That makes it EASIER to ice skate. Or, "I can't bake this cake because I have all the ingredients and then some". It's nonsensical. And I despise the fact that they brought out the cancer card because now people are going to be more hesitant to call it out. I know, because I do the same. Sometimes when I want some busybody to leave me alone, I bring up one of my serious conditions and it makes it awkward enough that they leave - which is the goal. That's what Satori is doing. Shame on them.
@Kaspar.C0LD9 ай бұрын
I basically made a medical dissertation comment of my own along these same lines, but I'll leave most of it out and only re-comment a main part. Satori said if he popped his ankle he wouldn't be able to get it back in, because cancer. That's not even how popping a point works in the first place. So not only is her pseudo-medical reasoning completely wrong, she's completely unaware of how joints (primarily synovial joints, the ankle being a hinge synovial joint) even pop in the first place. She's talking about a dislocation. Plus, he's has a transplant and all that. The only reason Leukemia would have affect on him popping his joints would be prior to being treated, because of the bone swelling and nerve pressure which would cause pain _to_ pop a joint -- but not keep someone from being able to do so in the first place. Unlucky for them I'm not only a skeptic, I'm also a cynic -asshole- and have no problem pointing out the bullshit in someone's use of "but my condition". I'll feel sorry that someone had to deal with it, but it will not keep me from calling a spade a spade. Just a tinge of the 'tism, know what I mean?

While this is not leukemia, this was a very direct attack on my knee joint. I had a very invasive knee surgery that ultimately ended up with my tibia bone needing a metal rod put in it in order to help me ever be able to walk again. In order to get the rod in, of course, my knee had to be dislocated and the rod shoved in that way. The rod covers from my knee to my ankle. While there isn't much info about ankle boy's cancer, I can say with certainty that any popping of the joint would not debilitate him like she implied. It would be a miracle if my joints STOPPED popping and my procedure was monstrous! Also popping of joints has something to do with cartilage, not just the bone (I THINK!)

Or the video of Cody doing it 11 years ago without satori lmaooooo
@-tera-33459 ай бұрын
I commented about this exact thing on the first video, and it's somehow managed to remain one of the top comments there. The other comment I made there about Sam and Colby's follow-up being total BS invoking a false dichotomy got completely buried without being seen by anyone. (They seem obsessed with the idea that "if you don't have 100% definitive proof showing it being faked, then what we experienced must be 100% true", which is idiotic on its face, especially since we only have their own footage to go by.)
@KorAuster9 ай бұрын
So the thing is their rebuttals aren't rational arguments, they're emotional. Satori's not saying "Cody can't pop his joints, he had leukemia", she's saying "can you believe people are attacking this poor cancer survivor." This isn't an actual claim to fact check. The same goes for when Cody says they're being called aliens ("gosh aren't these people so absurd and crazy") or when Satori doesn't want to have her feet fetishized ("you're all a bunch of perverts too, aren't you"). Jacqueline's letter takes this maybe the furthest, where she talks to the audience as if they, personally, are being attacked. She spins it to them as if their identities and their experiences are being questioned when skeptics debunk Cody and Satori. I think it's also important to note the "professional" connections all of these people have. Obviously these channels don't want to alienate their audiences by being hardline skeptics or whatever. But they all (Sam and Colby, Project Fear, Cody & Satori) swim in the same paranormal reality entertainment pond, and I think they're also all trying desperately not to bury or alienate each other, like how Dakota is running so much mealy-mouthed interference. Cody & Satori have connections to TAPS and the Ghost Hunters TV show, as you've brought up before. You also pointed out how Dakota Laden got his start with Ghost Adventures. It's part gossip, part people airing sour grapes on social media, but Zak Bagans basically muscled out their Destination Fear show off of TV in the same way he got his original Ghost Adventures co-host Nick Groff sidelined and then blackballed entirely from the Travel Channel. To somebody like Dakota, this was probably an object lesson in the way the game operates between the various personalities, and it's why they're all acting more or less ambivalent about this even while their audiences cotton on to the kayfabe bubble popping for Cody and Satori. They all depend on each other to keep their careers going, and the professional networking to climb the ladder on the grift. You play nice with each other, so that way when you're scratching Satori and Cody's back and getting more people to go to the Conjuring House, they pay you back later on social media or with their "professional connections" to groups like TAPS with an established TV presence, or whatever other opportunities might crop up. You can also see the nudging in this direction in Jacqueline's letter. When she talks about how skeptics call what everyone is peddling into question so it's important for everybody to defend each other, you can read between the lines and see the warning about how they all know where each other's bodies are buried as far as what gets faked, what's pure entertainment, etc. It's the threat that they can close people out of that loop or counter-expose you if you don't play ball, the same way Zak played his "star power" at the Travel Channel.

They are both narcissists. Satori especially. Her overly sweet voice and how she to talks to everyone like toddlers (including her fake "spirits") is a manipulation tactic.
@Kaspar.C0LD9 ай бұрын
Just to add that people with leukemia or cancer, especially those treated and in remission (Cody's had bone marrow transplant), can 100% pop their joints. They even do it accidentally if it was bad enough. She also alluded that if he did so his joint wouldn't "go back in", which would mean she's saying you pop a joint by dislocating it. That's.... not how that works in the first place lol

The fact that Sam and Cody called over all these other paranormal investigators to watch that video and not a single one of them were skeptical or questioned it, but all immediately made reservations at the conjuring house should tell everyone what scam artist all of these paranormal investigators are. If you’re a serious paranormal investigator and you’re not just doing this too, get clicks and likes and make money which is fine. Go ahead and do that but stop calling yourselves, paranormal investigators and call yourselves entertainment, but if you are calling yourself, a paranormal investigator every single thing that happens should be looked at with skepticism. You should assume it’s not paranormal and try to prove that it is not paranormal. Once you’ve exhausted all other options then you start looking into could this be paranormal?

When we were in the basement we all heard a knocking sound and Cody instantly reacted, asking if maybe another guest for the tour had arrived. He went upstairs for a brief time and then came back stating nobody was at the front door. I now I have a different perspective on the “knocking” sound we heard.

I think everyone has some level of skepticism. Even people that fall for traps that this couple employs. I think it is all about proof standards. What level of proof do you need for something to feel real. It is the big reason I have never believed in psychic/mediums. Maybe there are people that can talk to the dead. But I highly doubt that I am going to meet one on some back-ally street that can read my fortune. (that doesn't implement some kind of background check or using cold reading techniques) I think some people that get into the paranormal do it because of some level of desperation. And that is what this couple feeds on. Desperate people that are not trying to figure out the authenticity of the encounter but what message they will get.
@pancakes86708 ай бұрын
They have to build a strawman because they like the idea of "Defeating" the skeptic, but cant actually defeat any real skeptic. So they create a caricature and tear it down. A lot of people do this, and its especially prominent amongst religious circles of the "Athiest Skeptic" who "Changed their mind and found God". People love the feeling of defeating a percieved enemy.

I know one person doesn’t make a difference, but I just can’t believe how they’re still protecting them. They don’t have to throw anyone under the bus, they can respectfully say that they do believe in their ability but understand why others don’t and they can’t explain why Cody and Satori aren’t willing to prove it, but they still believe in it.

They don't even do a weird mystical response like "oh being barefoot conects us too much with the earth and it interferes with the process, might even be dangerous". or anything like that. "THE SPIRITS MIGHT NOT LIKE SEEING SOME TOES". Honestly, the point of view of avoiding debunking is the only explanation I can make sense of as to why they wouldn't question the spirit's fear of FEET.

Regarding "believing" versus "skepticism" in the paranormal, one of my favorite skeptics said it best. Believe the experience, but not the cause. Yes there are charlatans out there, but most people who have had paranormal experiences, including myself, fully believe something happened to them they cannot explain. Their experience is/ was real to them. Their emotions associated with that are very real. But the cause is likely not paranormal. (I say likely because honestly? I think it's hubris to say we know anything for certain. Even scientific law is amended when new information is discovered.) While there are things out there we can't yet explain, so much can be explained by hoaxers, natural phenomenon like air pressure changes and drafts, issues with the body (including the brain), the way sound plays off objects, etc. There also natural phenomenon we once thought was either hoaxes or paranormal that we are just delving into as a legitimate thing, like ball lightning. So who knows what we'll discover is real in the future that can cause the things people are experiencing. Believe the experience (except in the case of obvious hoaxers), but question the cause.
