I'm an art major, and all throughout my career and study (especially art history) i always just... assumed everyone of early periods, especially Baroque, painted in very muted colors with lack of contrast. During that class is when I felt pretty dumb to remember that paintings do in fact need restoration periodically, but i never imagined they hid this much color and lightness. Its gorgeous and really gives me a newfound appreciation!

Just a tip (Sorry if I sound really dumb, but it works when doing drawings so I think it probably works here too): When doing the repainting, after certain amounts of time, take a picture of the painting (nothing too precise, but it should be in semi-good quality). Take the picture, and flip it (most phones have this feature). Since a lot of the time, when you make something yourself, your brain doesn't notice some minor mistakes, but when flipped, it looks like another art piece that you didn't make, allowing your brain to see any mistakes you didn't see before. Sorry if it doesn't really help, I just think it'll be useful when needing to repaint some of the paintings.

That's an old trick my high school art teacher beat into my head. He gave me a somewhat complicated drawing of a man in fancy robes sitting in a chair. First, I was to copy the original right side up as best as I could. Then, the next day, he told me to turn it upside down and copy it again. He boldly bet me that I would do a noticeably better job on the second attempt. It actually worked. For some reason, my eyes don't perceive it as a drawing when upside down but he did tell me that this trick doesn't work on everyone.
@hellspawn216 жыл бұрын
@@largol33t1 Cool story. I didn't find it through any art teacher though, I saw that some artists use this technique, and that it worked with me. Even though it doesn't work with everyone, it does work with most, so I do hope it helps this person. Thanks for sharing!

I stumbled across this video and found it truly fascinating. I learned an absolute ton just watching it. I had no idea the variety of skills that are art restoration company would need to have. In addition the way this video was filmed and edited was just beautifully done and I doff my hat to the videographer

Assim como o cirurgião cardíaco segura o coração do paciente em suas mãos. Sabendo o que está fazendo. O paciente não tem nada a temer pois sabe que ele não vai desapontalo. Parabéns restaurador você simplesmente é o melhor.

Obviously, you have an extremely high level of expertise and a wonderfully steady hand. I am a cabinet maker and I would say that for such a delicate piece of work you are taking off an awful lot of wood for a first pass with that router. Your jig is great, but it isn't especially powerful and you could get some unpredictable tear out etc. If you take two, or perhaps 3 passes, you will have more control, and there shouldn't be too much difference in time, as taking off less wood, you will go much quicker.
@ziinx58995 жыл бұрын
Do you mind telling me why he chopped off a lot of the wood? I kinda liked it that way.
@DrBoobY2K5 жыл бұрын
I think the old wood was unstable, in bad condition and no longer needed. As far as taking quite a lot off at once I think he found it quicker and easier than making multiple passes.
