Jim Coddington's commentary about Cézanne's attempt to grasp and convey his intimacy with his wife was touching.. 🥺 Warm approaches and cool recedes - art imitating life. I hope there was a lot of ochre-grade warmth in their marriage.

I love this. I wouldn’t have been able to see the purposes behind so many little details of this painting, but hearing you talk about it made me see it with different eyes.
