The carl jung synchronicity example was actually even more profound, the patient said she dreamed of a certain beetle, and then the beetle showed up at the window. What was special was that the species of beetle was not native to the area at all, and the chance it would show up was almost none, but it did at that exact moment

On the topic of “the singularity has already happened”, I remember I read something somewhere that’s really scary. This is moreso appropriate if you boil the singularity down to “the point of no return” for humanity, and possibly the earth. There is some relation to technology, but even if this doesn’t qualify as the singularity, I think it’s worth some though. If all of society were to collapse and fall back into the Stone Age right now, we wouldn’t be able to build back up to our current level ever again. We’ve depleted the earth of so much of its natural resources and wildlife, that it would take centuries for it to repair itself. Humanity would be back to square one, but with significantly less to work with, and a extremely damaged planet. All the natural flora that brought us food and wood have been evolved to need the attention of humans to thrive, and trees are significantly less common than they would of been at the start of humanity, meaning we have less to build with. And any natural metals left are so far underground that we couldn’t reach it with Stone Age technology. We would never get past nomadic tribalism. And I think that if there’s a point of no return we are already past, that’s it. I guess it’s not exactly the traditional definition of the singularity, as that usually refers to AI or humanity’s relationship with technology, but either way it reminded me of this.

Ok but to be fair, we would still have access to all the resources we have pulled out and left here in the surface. Iron and steel could be easily sourced from city ruins and over time we would become expert recyclers. And about nature, it wouldnt really take that long to heal. Sure, it would not be in a human lifespan, but say 1000 years is more than enough for all the forests in the world to recover to their pre industrial condition. And 1000 years in evolutionary terms is not a long time. Anatomicaly modern humans have been arround since at least 200 000 years.

11:50 I actually spent a few years working under someone researching algae biofuels at Brooklyn college. Algae biofuels are very similar to other plant based biofuels like corn and are quite effective sources for fuel! The main reason that they're not as widely used as corn is 1) there are already so many people growing corn that it's much cheaper to harvest and collect. 2) algae biofuels are most efficient under certain levels of stress. Just like humans, when algae is under stress (stress is caused by limiting light or other food) they'll produce tons of different chemicals that they need to survive under those conditions. those chemicals, like beta keratin, are really valuable to humans and can make algae a very valuable biofuel. there'precursors tl;dr: people don't use algae for biofuels because corn is just as good and already in heavy production. not because of big oil. algae is however useful for medical supplements and is currently being researched for their production.

There's a famous theory in psychology (I can't right now remember it's name but it was mentioned a couple of times on classes in college) that the reason these types of things happen, is because our brains have already been conditioned (through evolution, instincts and standard methods of conditioning like education) to follow a certain pattern or scheme throughout a specific amount of time (some say days, others say a lifetime). It's basics can be explained with methods like body language to detect lies (as some people become so aware of this conditioning that they can detect irregularities on these patterns) or some cases of deja vu. We all have the capacity to develop this abilities, but we just don't take the time to observe to do it consciously. But we can do it unconsciously, that is why there's certain instances where you for some reason lock eyes with a stranger, look into a place where someone might be doing something embarassing like picking their nose, or guess by "pure luck" what someone will say next.

"Soul Healing" In psychology, when mental issues manifest in physical symptoms, these symptoms are called psychosomatic. Sounds esoteric, but it really happens. Most people have probably had at least the mildest and most common ones, like getting a stomach ache from fear/apprehension. Getting diarrhea from stress and other psychological issues is so common it has its own name: Irritable bowel syndrome, IBS. But it can be other stuff, too! Fewer, itching, stuff like that. There have even been cases of psychosomatic paresis or even paralysis. One example I was told by a caretaker working in a psych ward was a woman who was extremely clingy when it came to her daughter, wanting her to live in her house, even after she married. When the daughter and her husband got their own place, the woman became paralyzed so the daughter would have to take care of her. Now, this is not the same as hypochondria. She wasn't pretending to be paralyzed. At least not consciously.
@NicknotNak2 жыл бұрын
As someone who has dealt with this stuff, ill add to this~ Psychosomatic pains are typically caused by stress and can include everything from heart and respiratory issues to just plain muscle stress. This is different from psycogenetic pains which is very similar but instead of being caused by stress, it typically stems from under-treated mental health issues. These are still usually called psychosomatic, but thats just people being too lazy to differentiate them properly. If you have anxiety that gives you migrains, you treat the anxiety. If you have life stress that causes you an upset stomache, you take an tums. Its just the focus that changes. Hypochondriacs dont pretend to have issues, they are terrified of having illnesses/injuries. These tend to be people who get a bug bite and go to the doctor to ensure that it isnt a venous spider bite, when it just ends up being a mosquito. Basically if they end up going to the doctor constantly over their worries, they are Hypochondriacs. As far as i know, this is now a fancy disorder (illness anxiety or something of the like) and can be treated. Maligering is when you pretend to have an illness for whatever reason. This is an act- no mental issues are associated with this. Most of the time this is when people are pretending to need assistance for either pity, financial gain, or some other reason. There is just some more information, and there is so much to research if you are interested!

Absolutely. I myself experience acute neck pain (an already common area of tension for me) when I am immediately stressed out. One time, I was driving and saw a cop car on the side of the road. I passed it, and not a second later, he pulls out, all sirens and lights. For half a second, I'm afraid I'm going to be pulled over, only for him to pass me and speed on ahead, obviously responding to a situation. But for several minutes afterwards, an intense pain blossomed in my neck afterwards that eventually mutated into a migraine (which I'm also prone to). Regarding stress reactions in the body, my husband gets a pinching feeling in his chest that he used to think was heart issues, but now knows it's probably stress combined with high blood pressure and a little weight on his abdomen. He once knew a girl who would get so violent ill from stress, she'd throw up. I've known people who get itchy from anxiety. Additionally, I have personally experienced dissociation (not quite sure if that's the right terminology) from prolonged stressful environments. When I used to dissociate regularly at work, I would feel myself slipping and go to the bathroom to decompress for 5 or 10 minutes. This usually worked, as did running my hands under ice cold water. And usually when I did this, while I'd be dissociating, I'd still kinda see the route I was taking to the bathrooms. Like, I was still seeing and taking in stimuli, but through a fog. Not visually, just like my mind was making what I was seeing not important enough for me to react to, even internally, if that makes sense. But this one time, I got stressed, started feeling that slipping feeling, and darted to the bathrooms at the back of the building. Next thing I know, I'm closing the bathroom door and locking it; I didn't remember the walk from the front of the store to the back room where the employee bathrooms were. I walked past 6 aisles and through the produce section, and had not even the foggiest memory of walking there. I'm glad I don't experience that anymore. I don't know why I stopped dissociating, I'm not on any anxiety medication or anything; it just stopped. Now I just suffer from acute neck pain. Yay.
@KaeYoss11 ай бұрын
@@beemel5734Sounds like a blackout. It's not a loss of consciousness, but you can't form new memories. It can happen with alcohol and drugs, obviously, but also with stress and trauma. The mind has some really weird ways to deal with stress and trauma. Do you still work at the same place? Is it still as stressful? If the stressors are no longer present, the coping mechanism won't kick in, either. It sounds like it only happened during prolonged stress. Alternatively, a different situation in your life might have improved, lowering your base stress level, so the stress that used to tip you over the edge is no longer bad enough to do so.

These videos are amazing. I need to share a story of mine; I am currently 32 years old, and have been a big fan of horror for a long time. I'm not easily phased by fictional horror, but for some reason I found the three pictures you showed on screen for the 'Cameraheads' segment really off-putting. Particularly the man's face in the middle. I don't know anything about the Cameraheads conspiracy, and I could not place why it was bothering me so much. After all I've seen plenty of spooky and goofy faces in many horror films and games before. None of them gave me this particularly 'weird' feeling that this one did. So I actually stopped and did some brief digging. What I learned shocked me in a very personal way. Those images are taken from old episodes of a TV show here in the UK called 'You've Been Framed'. It's one of those shows where you could send in your home video clips, and if they get shown on TV you get money. I think it was £500 back then. The format of the show was similar to modern day vine/tiktok compilations I suppose. The images that are associated with 'Cameraheads' in this video are from an old episode of that. One that is known in my family, because when I saw that man's face as a little kid it scared the heck out of me and stuck with me for months. It put me off watching the show because young me was afraid I might accidentally see 'that man' again. As the year passed I remembered the experience, but not the exact look of the guy, but holy shit there he is again after all these years. For those curious, you can see the clips in a KZbin video. Search for a video called ''You've Been Framed: Ugh! Creepy Scenes!'' by a user called SuperSmasher 1. There you will find a 1:23 video that contains the footage within it. Hot damn Wendigoon, thanks for the blast from the past. I'm super stoked to get caught up on this series, and now I'm curious about why I need to keep Cameraheads in mind for Tier 9. Can't wait! :D

most likely true. i went to a science high school and our final project was a thesis on some new technology or whatever. the professors always told us not to do biofuels because although they were easy to do (theres been several dozen papers by graduates on different biofuels) none of them got picked up or continued afterwards. which is really weird, as companies regularly buy papers from students who do inane things like banana peel baby wipes and orange peel wood polish.

About the gospels theory: The theorists overlook one important factor that kinda shatters their theory. The disciples were close to Mary, who was present during all of the pre birth events because you know... She kinda gave birth to Jesus
@edgehead26953 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Aside from the actual birthing of Christ, she only appears a few other times, which is something few really remember, myself included.
@mworld26113 жыл бұрын
Im pretty sure (cant remember the passage rn) Jesus also tells one of the disciples to care for his mother. So it only makes sense when writing about Jesus after he ascended for them to ask his mother about his life.
@Lowmanification3 жыл бұрын
It is debated who actually wrote the gospels, but it is generally accepted that outside of the gospel of Matthew none were written by eye witnesses to Jesus' life (and even Matthew is a bit contentious). The gospels seem to be the written form of oral tradition about Jesus' life and actions and are believed to have been formalized about 50-80 years after his passing. While it could be possible that the Q source was written by Mary (or honestly ANY of the disciples given this new knowledge), without an actual text it is impossible to know.
@HerveyShmervy3 жыл бұрын
@@Lowmanification accepted by who? Plus you forget that yes the gospels were written long after (John, the latest gospel, was written around 90AD) Jesus' death, however the people of that time could remember more about their past. Even if they were 80 years old or so.
@Lowmanification3 жыл бұрын
@@HerveyShmervy Bart Ehrman and his supporters are the only ones I can think of by name. However, it should be noted that Ehrman, despite being well qualified, has been criticized for overstating the certainty of his conclusions. Zondervan Academic has a pretty interesting article on this topic which lays out the evidence for the gospels authorship. Unfortunately it isn't well sourced itself, but it shouldn't be too hard to use it as a jumping off point for future research if you desire. After reading through it again myself I noticed I was mistaken about John in particular, which does have much more support for being written by the apostle than I initially remembered. Sorry about that! Honestly though, I feel like we will never have a definitive answer to any of this unless new documents are unearthed. One thing to consider though for your hypothesis that Mary is the Q source is that John was directly charged with caring for Mary however his gospel does not appear to take information from the Q. Just something to consider.

I actually have JFK Reloaded its a pretty decent simulator, and it was actually designed to disprove the conspiracy that Lee Harvey Oswald wasn't the only shooter. The way the simulation works is that there's a sort of a check list that you need to meet in order to perfectly replicate the shooting of JFK and a scoring system to rate how perfectly you replicated the shooting, I believe the current high score is 700/1000. My high score is 525 as its actually really hard especially considering I'm not an ex-marine sniper like Oswald was.

Yeah, Q source was taught to me in religion classes -- it wasn't some special better source, but hypothesized to be a collection of Jesus' sayings. Basically, if you look at Mark, Matthew, and Luke's gospels, you'll see some of Matthew and Luke's gospels directly reference Mark, and Matthew and Luke seemed to also both reference a second text [the Q text] which was the sayings. This was a pretty standard hypothesis in theological schools that were deep into literary Bible analysis. The interesting thing to me is that Q Source is starting to become disputed from similarly religious Bible scholars that the evidence just points to Luke also referencing Matthew.
