How does this have so little views!? Fantastic video, as always. Your production value is mad, for a relatively small channel. I learned a lot and actually appreciate the film more now. I was never among the people raving about it, though I did definitely like it.

Appreciate it! Yeah, I seem to be slowly gaining some traction with the content I'm putting out. I feel like next year will be better because there just aren't a lot of popular films to cover right now!
@imaginekudryavka9485Ай бұрын
@@FrameVoyager You'll definitely get there. With some newer channels, I subscribe more for the potential I can see in them, even if they're rough around the edges. Your videos are already top notch, well researched and edited. So at this point it's a matter of time. As long as you keep uploading regularly, a video is bound to hit the algorithm just right, and when people like what they see, they'll go through the back log. I like that you're making very varied videos on a current topic (isn't the next one just about the director?). If it was all just Joker Joker Joker, like the movie itself, 5 videos would feel like too much and might turn people off who aren't interested in it particularly. Doing too much of the same thing can have a large effect on grow - if a lot of people are brought in at once but most don't stick around because they think it's a single topic channel, it's gonna look worse for the algorithm than not getting all those viewers in the first place. That's how I've understood it. But I trust your judgement and ability! Best of luck.

Oh totally agree. This is actually a new strategy of releasing multiple videos together. That seems to get a lot more people coming in to binge-watch them. A modern classic movie that should've stayed standalone. Joker is a movie that uses a popular comic character to warn people that society will beat them down, especially those with mental issues, and that we need to be more aware that stories like Arthur Fleck's play out all too often in the real world because the faults in the western world. And it works, with great performances, a genuine sense of sadness, and a heartwrenching plot that somehow manages to make you feel bad for the man who becomes the Batman's most iconic adversary. Todd Philips showed he could make a great dramatic genre film with Joker, and the possibilities of where his career could've gone were endless... ...Unfortunately, Todd decided to make an unnecessary wackier musical sequel and the first film wound up a victim of the sigma male epidemic of the 2020s. The things that our entertainment becomes known for, amirite?

16:23 I'm firmly in the camp of larger sensor = better depth of field effects and can explain it like this. The way to get finer depth of field (and therefor a blurrier bokeh) is to have a bigger difference in the distances to foreground objects and background objects. In other words, you can blow the background out of focus by focusing closer, but that requires you to move closer to your subject. doing that would require either a wider lens or a physically larger sensor. In this situation using the larger sensor wins, all other things being equal.

The larger sensor has less cropping. Small sensors, a 21mm lens would be needed to get a 35mm feel... Think of the crop on a 3/4 dlsr.
@FrameVoyagerАй бұрын
The only time this would become an actual factor though would be at the extreme ends of focal length. And usually for cinema cameras, we are talking Super35 or above. But there are still ways to get pretty much the same look on a smaller sensor. The one thing with the larger sensor is that you get more data which. But I mean the Alexa mini has been used in so many great films that you honestly don't notice the difference in it that much. At the end of the day, it really comes down to vision, skill, and all the tools working together for whatever is best for your project.

Todd Phillips thinks he’s a genius when he’s a pretty average bro. If he didn’t want to make a super-hero movie he shouldn’t have. Hell, it’s clear he didn’t want to make a Joker movie because Arthur Fleck is not the Joker. Not in any way. And beyond that, Arthur Fleck is not an interesting character. This original character and story that they squandered the Joker IP on is like a child’s finger-painting version of a movie like Taxi Driver. The whole thing is, artistically speaking, an ill conceived waste of time.

Todd Phillips talks about himself like he’s some kind of a genius. It’s too bad he’s not smart enough to tackle these kinds of topics. If he didn’t want to make a comic book movie, he shouldn’t have. He should own that pretentious stance, but of course he still wants to make money so he weaseled out a way to do that. Hell, it seems like he didn’t want to make a Joker movie, because Arthur Fleck isn’t the Joker. On top of that, Arthur Fleck and his story isn’t even interesting or original. It’s like the dumbest version ever of the tragic-backstory-makes-the-villain-sympathetic cliche. It’s like a child’s finger-painting of Taxi Driver. Artistically speaking, it’s an utter waste of everybody’s talent. Except Phillips, for him it was like being carried on everyone else’s shoulders.
