@@jaster2211 if your argument is Caleb Williams' father molded him to be a QB the best comparison would have been Todd Marinovich's father, Marv, who was a former USC lineman and many wll argue, from the time Todd was born, Marv did everything to make him a top QB prospect. If you see a comparison of not wanting to play for the team with the #1 draft pick. John Elway and Eli Manning did that. No need to bring a basketball father into the conversation. When there are other examples in football.

The Bears have a pretty solid team. Trading Fields for a rookie would be a huge risk regardless of how good he played in college. But hey, it’s the Bears..🤷🏻‍♂️
@Cold__Soup

What are you talking about trading Fields for a rookie? The bears have the number 1 pick Fields isn’t being traded for Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams will be drafted by the bears and Fields will be released. This rookie you are talking about played better in college than Fields ever did as well. At the end of the day every rookie is a risk.

I finally watched this video and I feel it is one of the better videos there is on Caleb, because SGS details his early history, where others do not. The guys whole purpose in life is to be a Great Quarterback. That's what drives him. The only type of bust he should be headed for is in the Hall Of Fame. Nail color dos not mean SQUAT when it comes to reading defenses and spinning the ball. This guy does not seem like a quitter. He is aware that he is wearing Robo Quarterbacks number 13. Todd Marinovich, trained from the age of 3 to be an NFL QB by his father, an NFL coach. Todd Marinovich was a first round draft pick, but the dude wanted to smoke pot and surf. THAT is not Caleb Williams.

As a Bears fan I vividly remember us having a QB from the Bronco's who played like he didn't care. I didn't want Fields to go, but now that he has I want to see them draft Williams. I couldn't care less if he paints his nails or not, but he may want to avoid painting "F" The Cowboys or "F" The 49ers, or any other team in the NFL, because these defenses are a different beast. I hope he cares, I hope he strives to be the best, because it's not always seemed that Bears QBs do. My only red flag is him not having an agent, and his fathers involvement. We've been there before with Roquan Smith and his hold outs. That is disruption and petulance we don't need. I hope Williams comes to Chicago, knuckles down, plays good ball and brings us some success and excitement. If he does I'll buy his jersey. Go Bears 🐻

There's a lot of the Dunning-Kruger Effect going on here in these comments. Geniuses quoting natural law, whatever the hell that even means on a football team.... Who cares if Caleb Williams paints his nails? It's got nothing to do with business. If he cries after a loss, well I've seen plenty of football players cry on sidelines after a loss in both HS and college...so what? Did Williams quit the game after that loss? No he didn't so maybe, just maybe that should matter a bit more than the tears he shed. I just don't think he should play for the Chicago Bears...it is a substandard organization that QB's go to fail, not succeed. Their history is loaded and I do mean loaded with failed QB's. If Williams is smart, he'll pull an Eli Manning and tell the Bears thanks but no-thanks and play elsewhere, which would be quite hilarious to watch happen.

His performance in 2023 was consistent with 2022. His effieciency increased, his rating increased, his completion percentage increased and yards per reception increased. His total TDs went from 3.7 per game to 3.4 per game and his passing yards went down from 335 to 333 yards per game. This whole "step back" narrative is dogshit. People with smooth brain math skills wee the lower numbers and don't take into account that USC played 2 less games.

Here is the delema...It is something you cannot overcome and no college football has ever experienced this. The world class defensives and world class defense backs. An NFL QB needs to release the ball withing 2.6 seconds. Very difficult. And here is something they have never been tested on.. When your eyes see a play develp, it takes .7 seconds for tour brain to get the visual message from your eyes and then convert it to create movement of your limb. This is the natural avg. If a QB's brain is not as fast as that, it is something that cannot be improved. You can change you genetics. This is the problem Just Fields has and why he seems to hold the ball to long. His brain to not signal his arm fast enough. You can develop pure timing plays where he does not have to make a decision if he is covered and count 2 seconds and throw the ball to a spot on the field regardless of who or what is there. Tom Brady practiced this by using a blindfold with Gronk for 1 hr after every practice. He did not need to do it, but it nice to have that in your hip pocket. Great for lobbing passes to corner of endzone ! We will see, I wish nothing but the best for every QB and every player to succeed in my favorite sport. I love when great teams play each other and have great games.. Otherwise I would be watching soccer for 4 hours that end up 0-0

It doesn't take 7 seconds, maybe 2 seconds. Still Pro ball is way faster than college. Lot more to know in an instant before the snap. All the possibilities and probabilities. How to look off the safeties, Where the heat is coming from if it is real or not. Where to go with it Even passing lanes between six five lineman is a fraction of a second window. My favorite sport too.

Refusing medicals have hurt the Bears ability to move Justin Fields. They won’t ship him until they know there isn’t anything of note. The time between the combine and those visits is when Free Agency happens, so IF the Bears were gonna take him, they couldn’t be sure until the visit. Skipping medicals is a bigger decision than folks realize. Bears GM Ryan Poles had to rescind his very first Free Agent offer after a failed physical of Larry Ogunjobe. Those tests reveal injuries players may not even be aware of. It happened to KoolAid McCinstry this year. Nobody cares about the fingernails, it’s the focus on being a brand, rather than being a football player that is a concern. Anyone who drafts him is signing up for constant battles in contract talks and pushback in doing the stuff everyone else does.

About the crying. When you’re a leader of men people follow you. You must put up a strong front for their sake to keep them strong. You must have emotional maturity. This may sound like male toxicity to some people. But it’s the truth according to natural law. If CW was a receiver I wouldn’t care. But he will be the leader and the team will follow him.

Caleb is not your normal jock. Caleb was a linebacker in 5th grade. And he was knocking other kids out. So the coaches moved him up to play with the 8th graders. Yes, at 10 years old he was playing against 13 year olds. And by 10 years old, Caleb was already tired of his team losing. So he told his parents and coaches that he was going to play quarterback so he could control things. At 10 flipping years old he wanted ALL the pressure on him! Caleb has been toning his body doing Yoga exercises since he was 14, always keeping his body in shape. Caleb was also enlisted in media training at age 14. And at 14 he became the starting QB at his high school - as a freshman - over the senior kids on the team. Yes, a 14 year old leading 17 year olds. He wound up being the country’s top-ranked high school QB when he left for college. On his first play in college he ran 60 yards for a touchdown. His team was losing when he came off the bench and beat rival Texas. He was their hero right from the start. At the end of that first college season, he was being talked about as a future Heisman winner, and sure enough, he won it the next year. By his third season he had a resume of quarterback numbers as good or better than most college quarterbacks ever. This is how you earn the label “Generational”. Yes, being a Generational talent in college does not mean you will win the Super Bowl in the pros. Yes, Namath and Manning achieved it, but most do not. “Generational” typically means a “Can’t Miss Product”. It means you have the potential to be Great in the pros. And in the pros, everyone wants a Great quarterback. But no matter how good you are in college, it does not mean you will make it in the pros. Colt Breenan and Tim Tebow are perfect examples. Those 2 put up MONSTER numbers in college, but could not do it again in the pros. The pro game is just HARDER. For one thing, you are playing against the college all-stars. Caleb can run past linebackers and run through defensive backs in college but may not be able to do that in the pros because those guys are bigger and faster. His throws are not going to be as easy because the receiver windows are much smaller and the DB’s can make up ground quicker than in college. And then there are the defensive coaches. Defenses are much HARDER to beat in the pros than in college. Dozens of QB’s enter the pros every year but only a dozen ever seem to be any good. We have 32 teams but less than half of those QB’s reach greatness. For whatever reason, the pro game is much harder to grasp, the playbooks are too massive… the defenses are too deceptive… it's just a more difficult brand of football. So what we end up with at draft time is a 50/50 situation: the player may be great - or he might be a bust. Or more likely, just good enough to keep. The player with Generational talent has more upside, so you draft those players first. Or you trade what might be one great player for a bunch that might be good. Yes, in 3 years they just might be talking about what went wrong with Caleb. But those who draft him hope not. And they are going to take the chance on Caleb being Great before another team does. Caleb’s heart is in it, he’s super talented, we just have to see if translates to the pros.

Really good post sir. You are right about everything you said imo. The college game for the sport of football is just SO much different than the professional game. Other sports like baseball, basketball, hockey, and soccer are much easier to predict success from college to the pros. Throw in the fact that the QB position is the hardest position in all of sports to play professionally and you see why there are so many busts in the first round and then there are guys who are drafted later that find success in the NFL. Being a pro pitcher is the closest thing to it and it really isn't that close. I really think a small change they should make to the college football game would be to move the hash marks in to where they are in the NFL, will that fix everything when it comes to evaluating QBs? NO, but it would make it a little easier. The fact is there are some QBs whos skills are more condusive to the college game and some who have a skill set that is a better fit for the NFL. Figuring that out is what makes it so hard. 🐻⬇️ ✌️✝️

@@keithk1559 I posted that before I saw her video. Looks like I was wrong about him being #1 coming out of high school. She did a real good job of showing his early history. Easily one of the BEST videos on Caleb. You might be right about the hash marks, as it would make their play more consistent with the pros.

For the Bears... it's not about having THE greatest QB ever yet about having a good team and good QB to win any SB's they can. People forget it's all about winning a SB(s) or why play?. MANY HOF QB's NEVER won a SB.... ask them how they feel about that.
@moonytheloony6516
@moonytheloony6516 Ай бұрын
Yet the majority of the 58 Super Bowls on record have been won by HOF QB's and QB's that are a lock for Canton. By majority I do mean over 40 of those 58 Super Bowls. Zero non HOF QB's have won back-to-back Super Bowls. Zero. They do however account for roughly 12-13 Super Bowl titles....out of 58. With only one of those 12-13 QB's, Jim Plunkett, winning the Super Bowl twice....40 years ago. Meanwhile the number of non HOF QB's that have lost in the Super Bowl is much higher....Lamonica, Morrall, Kapp, Kilmer, Morton, Ferragamo, Jaworski, Woodley, Eason, Humpheries, O'Donnell, Chandler, McNair, Collins, Gannon, Delhomme, Kaepernick, Grossman, Newton, Anderson, Esiason and probably Matt Ryan. That's roughly 22 non HOF QB's who lost Super Bowls with more than half of them losing to HOF or future HOF QB's. So what do we know from the evidence? As previously stated over 40 of the 58 Super Bowls have been won by a team that has a HOF QB or a QB that's considered a likely inductee in their first or second year of eligibility...which is over 70%. So it's not only ideal for a team to obtain a HOF caliber QB, it's the only way to earn a dynasty as demonstrated by Bart Starr (still the only QB to win 3 consecutive world championships) Bob Griese, Terry Bradshaw (twice), Joe Montana, Troy Aikman and John Elway ....with Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes joining that HOF list eventually. The Bears greatest era, the 1940's, brought them a decade best 4 NFL Championships led by their only HOF QB in Canton, Ohio....Sid Luckman. No Bears QB has even come close to that accomplishment because it's an organization that has historically placed little value on the most important position of any football team which is the QB and it's cost them dearly. Since Luckman's retirement in 1950, the Bears have won just two world championships over the 73 seasons that followed. And right now the Bears are in the midst of their worst championship drought in their once-storied history...38 years...this number will continue to go up in the foreseeable future. That's what happens when a team fails to grasp the importance of getting a HOF caliber QB over several decades. Ask the McCaskey family how their...ahem...QB philosophy has worked out for them. Exactly.

@@moonytheloony6516Thanks! Longest written response I ever got! Point taken. I still add/consider the TEAM had more to do with QB's success. IMO at least 1/3 including Bradshaw were borderline HOF QB's and Bart Starr? Yet the need for an above average QB AND PLAYERS wins that ONE on any given SB Sunday, mi amigo!

If he paints his fingernails and cries after a loss then so be it. If you don't agree with it then don't do it yourself. Like I always say, get a life and you'll stay out of others.

And the fact that Washington is his home... maybe playing for the Bears is not meant to be. I mean, it wouldn't surprise Bears fans if Bears ownership made another draft flub.
