The listeners like these performers, so they seem to be fulfilling a role in entertainment, so what’s the problem? I get it that it sucks to see the landscape of music today, but if people are happy with it why fight it, just listen to your own music. Personally I’m not a fan at all of mainstream music from the tiktok era, it’s gross, but I recognize that times change and they always have and always will and I can choose to not participate

I honestly think the world would be a better place if 90 percent of mainstream rap music just didnt exist. The reason Ice Spice gets negative comments sometimes is a lot of people are TIRED of seeing women rap about boys and their bodies while twerking. Its so depressing to know that theres such talent out there but this is what is dominating the mainstream and effecting young peopls consciousness. What is really sad is to think about these rappers and think maybe they could be one of those artists who are capable of doing more but they keep pushing out garbage.

Drill is normally gangs threatening other gangs but in a vague way. At the end of the day, mainstream either consists of violence, sexual themes or materialism. Very rarely is it about anything else. There is the genre of scam rap that was unique for a while where they talk about fraudulent activity. I guess to summarize it even better: illegal activity, sexual themes and materialism is what most music talks about.

I personally think that one of the main reasons people like Ice Spice is because she s a refreshing personality. she can take a joke, she doesn't start drama or sneak diss which a lot of female rappers do, and she keeps to herself. She seems super nice to a lot of different kinds of people and she doesn't try too hard to be something shes not, ppl poke fun at her all the time and she always turns it into a joke/profits off it while a lot of other rappers would make it into something else. Her aesthetic is cute and different and she embraces it and doesn't try and hide who she is. Shes really real and doesn't do too much which is so refreshing when so many others quickly turn into preachers or weirdos so quick.

It's clear that some modern female rappers use sexual imagery, even bordering on soft pornography, to gain attention. This is a complex issue, with some arguing it's empowering, reclaiming sexuality in a public way. Others question its impact on younger audiences and whether it perpetuates objectification of women. Ultimately, the goal should be an industry that values talent above all, while artists, male or female, should feel free to express themselves without resorting to such tactics for notoriety.

You probably just broke things down a lot better than most. She’s definitely benefiting from a few privileges while also dealing with all the downsides of being a female artist in rap. I think people are noticing now more than ever how an image/brand can carry you further than your actual talent. She really does seem like a cool person so it’s no attack on her but she definitely qualifies as “mid” 💀 at least to people trying to be as objective as possible and aren’t just straight up fans.

Madonna in my opinion was the originator of showing the world that actual musical talent, or in her case the lack thereof, can take a backseat to one's image or brand, Madonna gave the musical world a masterclass in the art of the selling of an image rather then the selling of bona fide lyrical, musical or song writer's talent all of which she clearly lacks, and this is coming from a lifelong fan as well as a one time member of her stylist brigade.. Don't get me wrong Madonna has a true and lasting talent which is her unique abilities to morph into the moment reinventing herself through dramatic physical recreations that kept the world uber intrigued with her every breath, but for a person who was once in the Alvin Ailey dance troupe family, albeit a much lower leveled group of dancers, all one need do is rewatch all of her earliest music videos to see for a profession ally trained "dancer". Madge never dances in her videos, that is other then that embarrassing box step move she does in the Lucky Star video.. She has always relied on backup dancers and her ever changing looks to win audiences and myself over.. She forged a new path for ALL female artists to now follow and they overwhelmingly have exemplified by her protege Brittany Spears and the countless others who've used Madonna's formula to parlay incredible success despite not having much vocal or musical talents..

@@MrTylerleonard13everything you said about Madonna’s “lack of talent” is ridiculous she is an excellent songwriter and is credited by many artists for helping them write successful songs and Madonna is literally famously known for her dancing skills her tours are an example of that she has actual musical talent but is downplayed by many because of jealousy and edginess
@MrTylerleonard13
@MrTylerleonard13 11 ай бұрын
@@missthangd4311 First off love your screen name but if you reread my original post from this vantage point you'll better understand my meaning. I am from the NYC Club Kid era and so not only was I well acquainted with Madge personally but I also knew tons of people within the club scene, not just the voguing community she would later also exploit without thanks or credit, but I also knew her stylists other back up dancers and club personalities that she literally would come into contact with and turn around a steal their ideas and "reinvent" herself which is the ONLY thing she's ever really been famous for.. Whether or not she's a competent songwriter is NOT something I can judge but if it was, as you stated, her unique talent I would offer why is she not in the songwriters hall of fame or otherwise awarded for this special gift of hers.? When I say she lacks talent I mean for someone who rants she was an Alvin Aily trained dancer show me one video in which she EVER actually dances there are none and as for her singing or vocal talents well she's no singer she is however a master saleswoman period. It's not an insult in my mind because Madonna achieved her every desired aspiration but even she admits that the lack of respect by the music industry has been a source of pain for and this is NOT something I just made up she has talked openly about this for decades after being snubbed time and again at the Grammy Awards etc.. In the final analysis I admire her, respect her determination and believe she did achieve many firsts including becoming the first real solo female superstar in history creating a path for so many others who followed her she just isn't a good singer though..

@@missthangd4311 nah, Madonna was never a musical genius. Never a good songwriter and honestly not even a good singer. She doesn’t even have a nice singing tone tbh I think her tone only worked for the 80s 90s. What she is though, is smart and hardworking. She’s very creative when it comes to business and concepts. And very smart at how she executed her career, especially in the beginning. But there’s a reason nobody talks about her in conversations about amazing musicians… because she isn’t one.

A couple things. 1. I hate that people didn’t like the music cause it was generally pretty mid but because they got to see her personality, all of a sudden it’s good now. 2. On the flip side, I hate the people that was hating and making memes about her but was in their rooms by themselves saying “that N a Munch💅💅” it’s sassy asf. 3. 7:10 is right and I don’t care what anyone has to say about it. There are MANY darker skin female rappers way better than Ice spice and my biggest example is Flo Milli. Arguably one of the best female rappers out there. Many of her songs have blown up on tiktok but no one ever gave her the chance to be mainstream. You don’t see drake giving her props, or was on xxl. People like ice spice because she’s an “underdog” breaking through mainstream, but that’s every female artist in a male dominated field. Darker skin women don’t get to drop mediocre music and break into mainstream media or are given the benefit to “get better” nicki Minaj, meg the stallion, flo milli, hell even the city girls had to come in with talent and put in the work before anyone would give them a CHANCE. If you were to look at a list of all the female rappers and listen to their music, you would see that almost all the light skin rappers make some pretty mid music and the darker skin women may not have multiple bangers but definitely better talent.

Everything you said is real truth! It's so annoying seeing music that came out of the Black community and specifically the struggles within it be watered down and lightened for the mainstream. There are a lot of dark skinned female rappers who have bars but no mainstream success. However, the community needs to do better. I see too many Black people hyping up mediocre rap while also complaining that the industry is watered down. We need to start setting our own standard for the quality of music that comes from our culture.

The Bronx has been a creator of musical talent since the beginning of hip hop. Hip hop started in the south bronx. However, the best way to get out the “hood” is by getting an education (college, grad school, phd potentially) in a profitable field. Im from the Bronx and the number of people I grew up with that “made it big” from soundcloud or instagram is zero. Only the people for finished highschool and completed college seem to be doing well financially. It is still incredibly rare to make it big. She comes across as extremely relatable, kind, and someone who just grew up in the age of the internet like all of us! Plus I personally love her music- it’s fun to dance to and rap along with my friends. It ain’t that deep, she makes music for people that get her.

She was promoted in the streaming algorithm. So for apple music for example, didn't matter what artist you would look for in the search, in 2022 her name would show up. Gives her exposure and more likely chance people will select her to see who it is. That's what they're doing for artists in the industry these days. She is def an industry plant. My issue is she became wayy too basic too fast. the artistry growth didn't seem genuine. She has a lot of potential though

She can definitely get into acting or pop music. Hip hop is not the best genre for her. Hip hop music will not bring out the best in ice spice if she sincerely wants to do music. There’s to much ignorance in hip hop these days for any woman to truly thrive without being sexually exploited in an unattractive way. If she goes pop she will be okay and make better music.

I learn about more artists from your videos, I swear! And I am an old, old lady by online standards. I grew up in the 90's with artists like Wu-Tang Clan and Nas, but I spent a good chunk of my childhood firmly planted in front of old school Mtv, so I was also exposed to a lot of earlier 80's rap through Yo! Mtv Raps. But I like to hear what the next generations have to say, and your channel gives such a great variety of artists a chance to shine, and I just love your quietly enthusiastic passion for music. I just saw your stuff on my KZbin homepage one day, and I decided to check out one of your videos, and I am so glad I did! Since that day, only a few weeks ago, I have watched dozens of your videos, and each time I come away with new knowledge and appreciation. It's so easy to get stuck in a rut and declare "oh, music just sucks nowadays, things were so much better back in my day," but you've proven time and again that this just isn't the case in so many instances. Thank you for all the hard work and effort you put into your content. I genuinely love your channel and I am so glad you do what you do. Keep up the amazing work!

Joe budden is like majority of black and Latin men from urban communities in New York who are very predatory and praise women for being hypersexualized and they come a dime a dozen in New York. Just walking down the street in New York they don’t think or ask about your age they just see a young vulnerable woman or a fat ass of any woman regardless of age that appeals to their personal sexual desires and validate them based on that. It’s a huge cultural issue in the black and Latin community in New York and overall. & once they’re done praising ice spice & sexually exploiting her they always are looking & waiting for the next piece of fresh meat. & to them they believe “the younger the better”.

The problem with Female Rap artist that most ppl complain about is content flow style. While Nicki Minaj does have appearance, the reason she hooked me back then was her ability to keep up entertained with wordplay like she, like she's the female weeezy. Missy Elliot was a big girl, still used lyrics to capture us... It's just today's age of vanity and appearance that makes these rappers win with appearances

It's the hooks for me. I don't listen to much Kenzo but from the little I heard it's straight lyrics which is good if you're real drill artist/fan. Most mainstream music isn't hardcore anything, it needs to be relatable, easy to sing along and dance to. Just my two cents. But they all go hard imo.
