Was a manager for Amazon for a longgg time before I quit. I had this same policy in my fluid area. Idc what da hell ya do, get the job done, dont get in trouble, dont cause drama and you can take as many breaks as you need to. It was almost like…. the workers had more energy, didnt feel abused and werent burnt out every day. But sadly the other managers just cant grasp this simple concept man.

@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley Жыл бұрын
"Firm but fair" is what I described one of my managers when I worked fast food. She was nice and didn't mind us joking, so long as we got our work done. But that last part...that's unfortunately the part people like to take an inch and run a mile with. Things would get too rowdy and things would back up and she'd call people out on it. Cue the smacked teeth and rolled eyes, like these people don't know what they're supposed to be doing. You're in the wrong, why are you copping an attitude like a child? Do what you're supposed to be doing and nobody would have to tell you off. People like that lead into having to be micro-managed because they took the bosses' kindness for a weakness and it sours good managers into bad ones, hurting everyone.

I used to work nights at Walmart and we had one of the best managers I'd ever worked for! And when she was on we'd finish everything early, cleaned up had everything looking proper for morning and store managers and we were all sad when she left the store. Managers like that help companies grow and keep moral up, but they're not appreciated by the company it's a shame.

Ive been a restaurant manager for many years and this is how I am now. At first I was not like this and drove my employees crazy. Lost some good ones because I was more afraid of doing good and not getting in trouble with my boss. Now I’m laid back and chill. As long as the work is getting done who cares if somebody takes an extra 5-10 min break. Nobody needs to be working full tilt every second they are on the clock. I get more and better work now than I ever did before I realized this. I jump in when needed and everybody has a good time.

I can't even describe the level of resentment I have for managers, who literally dont even know how to do the most basic parts of the job themselves, make near double my pay just by telling me to do said job. Working alongside your staff, helping where needed, and just generally not being a soul sucking robot goes a long way in keeping them with the company and making them more productive and happier workers in the long run. You don't even have to be all laid back like this just please, remember we are all just people

Cool managers are always a blessing to work for. To be honest, I feel what makes a manager is who that person truly is at heart. Most managers are miserable, power hungry individuals, while there are a few who are super chill. How you feel on the inside is what comes out when you have power. Leadership and communication skills should be a must in every line of work. Don’t make the workers miserable because you’re not happy with yourself.

Thing is, some people (not all!) WILL see that as a weakness and play will abuse it. These are the kinds of bosses that even the most defiant workers do their best for.

I used to tell my staff as long as that truck is done and the carts is done I don’t care what you do because whatever happens on cap team 2 stays on cap team 2

Exactly!!! I come from cap 2 back when we had to throw the trucks and work the freight we just unloaded. All of my managers then were cool, and were in the trenches with us. Eventually I moved to the front end as a CSM, and I tried to run my team like that. If we were short on cashiers, i would jump on a register and try to run the floor. If we didn’t have cart pushers, guess where I was? Outside with the mule, pulling carts in the bay. Now, I’m in OGP and I hate it because one of mt team leads is one of the laziest people. The whole team can be drowning in picks, and they won’t even go out to the floor to help pick. Instead, they call people from other departments, which are already running on a skeleton crew, over to help with picks. When I was a lead, i always tried to live by one motto: I would never ask my team to do something that I myself would not do.
