4 wheel drive isn't the only way to get through rough terrain. In light weight vehicles with the right torque, 2 wheel drive is more than sufficient.

Can't go play in the waves though, moisture = potential problems, where as an ICE would just be so freaking hot it would vaporize any water to get near to it as long as the air intake was above the water line

I like it! I can see it going into production with a detachable light weight quick remove roof, doors, that remove in one piece and folds up for easy storage with the rear hatch back roof being about the same.

It's not trying to be a petrol. The most unique and yet retro electric car I've seen... electric company's should pay attention to this business model. It doesnt have to be a standard car. If I were ever to buy electric and I dont see that happening yet.. it would be a funky vechical like this. Something different!! Great vid

This buggy is great looking fun and is the future, etc; but to be honest; I would have kinda liked to see her drive the old school one, with all the cave man mechanicals, real manual transmission with bottom hinged pedals like on early 911s. That really with out question would've been more of a hoot, no? & I hope VW compensated you well for featuring their product! Very nice of you. I have heard that someone is trying to do what you were saying, you buy the base then you have Options of body styles and the goal is that you can have multiple body styles and interchange them as you need or want . Going to the beach put the dune buggy body on the base , going on a trip mini van body , meeting supercar blondie sports car body and it takes just a short time to switch between body styles

As a BEV fanboy I kind of agree with old guy here. When it comes to Loose Sand the much heavier Battery powered EV will sink much worse than the Petrol Buggy. I'm not sure brute force instant torque really helps or makes the problem worse. Would be interesting to see more refinement work done for Loose Surfaces.
