I wonder if you can use Banana to XLR cables to send an output signal to a Pre-Amp? Like my S.M.S.L Ho200 for example.

Seems like a good option for DIY active speakers. Say, behind a MiniDSP Flex used as a preamp and for eq & crossovers. About $100 to drive each driver pair is a good price. To amplify a 3-way stereo pair is only $300. Plenty of power when directly driving each speaker cone. Especially for high efficiency designs. Archimago has a nice review on his blog. The TI chip amp measures very well. The VU meters are nifty, and a stack of these with separate VU meters would look pretty cool.

Can the op amps on the A08 be upgraded? I’ve seen op amps upgraded in the A07 to Sparkos op amps. I’m wondering if the same could be done with the A08. I’m also looking to upgrade the power supply. Any recommendations? Great review!

I have not had a chance to familiarize myself with their entire product line, but it's all small chip amps they're going to give you a similar result. Remember you have to double the power to get one extra DB. By the time you tinker around with a bunch of upgrades you could have almost just bought a more powerful stereo receiver.

My dad has in ceiling speakers in his house that doesn't work and wants me to put a new system in to make them work again. This amp might be a consideration for a low power amp to use to get some music playing in the house. Do you know of a good passive device that will sum stereo 3.5mm headphone cable to mono component cables?

You might be better off with a whole house audio amplifier, so that has six or eight channels of amplification.

@@DIYAudioGuy that would be awesome! I think its 4 or 8 speakers that just go down the hallways to play tunes in Whenever it cools off I'll inspect the attic and find the scope of work. It would be cool if you could make the speakers individually addressable to play any combo of one to all speakers but I doubt my dad would want to pay for it to be that advanced .

Surprisingly lot of the people who own aiyima t9 pro suggested getting 48v since it reduces the heat on the device perhaps that's because of the load it needs to drive the speakers example: it's easier to drive my 90w speakers @3ohms max 450w with 48v 10a pwr sply 90w speakers @8ohms will generate more heat due to resistance 😅 so if you look at it if you underpowered or overpower a speaker the amp will heat more and possibly die or kill speakers over time 🙄 I'm looking to drive my 3ohms car speakers 😑, I bought them and the car manufacturer gave me new speakers as replacement also. 90w continues 450w max power I'm just not able to find suitable amp to drive them 😥 I've seen people hooking up 1000w speakers to a 100wx2 t9 pro and saying "look it works" 🫤 A little help here would go a long way please 😅

It's a class D amp, and it should be a pretty efficient one at that (the main reason it can get away with the use of a small heat-sink). I'd multiply the PS wattage by something like .85 to determine how much power I'd actually get out of the amplifier. And there's the question of dynamic power (after all, we use these amps to listen to music, not boil water or weld ;-)) - for that I think a rough idea can be obtained by ((0.85*Vps)^2/4)*(number of channels) for an efficient class D design. For a 36V supply, that works out to just over 230Wpc into 4 ohms. If the PS can deliver up to 13A dynamically, it might be possible to obtain that level of dynamic output from this amp. These amps continue to miss the mark for me IMO. Give me one with a programmable DSP chip, and USB and optical input/output connections. Then I'll be REALLY interested 🙂

That's an awfully small passive heatsink for something that dissipates 315 w. I would absolutely be strapping a 60 mm fan to that heatsink. I remember having a PC back-in-the-day whose processor dissipated 120 W, and the heatsink was absolutely enormous and took up nearly the entire interior of the computer case. I am not a huge fan of passive Cooling. Active cooling gives you an extra measure of insurance

I don't think it'll matter that much for normal listening. It's not like you're going to hook this up to subwoofers and enter an spl competition.

@@DIYAudioGuy oh buddy, I totally would LMFAO. I get what you're saying, it's just that I'm the kind of guy that pushes any amplifier no matter how low its power ratings are to its Max I'm also the kind of guy that took that 5 lb block of copper off of my processor and converted it to water cooling. I'm also the type of guy that ran ductwork to my trunk from my vehicle's air handler to force cooled air over my amp. In the wintertime this is switched to outside air since the air handler is delivering heat in the winter. I just really really really like cold Electronics.
