The Coolest Hotel in BC. Adventure #41

Arundel Mansions is a hotel located in New Westminster, BC. It was built in 1912 and the owners have tried to keep everything in original condition. As soon as you walk through the front door, it is like walking into a time capsule. Any time I am staying close to Vancouver, I will be staying here

I grew up out on the West Coast and remember when this building was painted all pink and was just an apartment building. I used to go in there because of the Elevator and go for a ride, to see it actually restored from the way I remember seeing it is really nice to see. This was back in the 1980's that I remember seeing it like that.

I wanna stay there with my cat this summer. Talking of 1912, have you been to the Sylvia Hotel? It,s not that affordable, but it's worth a visit. The best hotel in the world in my opinion. And they hav emonthly rates, and are cat friendly.

Haha Dustin mom and dad have that type of light switch in their house! Just one left for the front porch but it still works. The house is anywhere from 90 -100 years old records were not accurate back then.

Strange thing is. I have lived in Greater Vancouver all my life. And yet. I didn't know this hotel existed in New Westminster. I thought an old relic like this wouldn't survive as long as it did. I thought it would be one of those old buildings that was torn down for new apartment buildings to take its place. For New West to have a hotel well over 100 years old and in superb condition, is quite an achievement.

New West has a lot of history that people don't know about including that it was the first capital city of BC. As a 5-year resident of New West, I like that we haven't been overwhelmed with tourists like Vancouver, but at the same time I am always shocked that people who grew up in the lower mainland have never been to New West and/or know nothing about it. Lots of super old buildings and homes here and a beautiful city.

I don't know, as cool as this hotel is, I stayed in the Leland once in Nakusp. BC's oldest continuously operating hotel. Its also worth checking out.
