When you visit Paris, keep an eye out for some of its funky statues. The city has so many unusual ones you won't believe what you can find.
Sure, you know about the (several) Statues of Liberty in Paris. But there's so many other figures that, some that will make your jaw drop (to let out a laugh, often).
There's one where women go to stroke his crotch, making it a different color to the rest of him. Another one with shiny breasts. Or a guy stuck halfway coming out of a wall.
Then the statue that has become a shrine to Princess Diana. And the very first statue of a black woman in Paris, erected in tribute to her tragic fight against slavery.
These are bigger-than-life moments that are must-see things for your next trip to Paris!

This was really enjoyable. I only recently discovered this channel, and I'm so happy that I did. I think your videos that include your views on art, literature and history are particularly strong. So, Please don't be shy about those subjects. I am basically addicted to reading French literature, in French, so I can't comment on a video that shows "Le Passe-muraille" without recommending the collection of short stories that provided its name. Marcel Aymé is a joy to read. His poignant mixture of humor, insight and charm is a must for every student of the French language.

Hey, I'm glad my videos are appealing to you -- and particularly appreciate the encouragement about including elements on art, literature and history.... It's often hard to know if there's much interest for that, when so many people just want to know where to get the flakiest croissant!

@@amusingaida I can see how that would be a challenge. Flaky croissants and Flaubert both have considerable appeal, almost equal in my book. It seems like your creative instincts will lead you where you want to go. People fall in love with France for many varied reasons, so you'll have a lot to choose from.

OMG, you have capture one of the things I miss most about Paris, public art - everywhere - and much of it with deep, thoughtful meanings. Anything I'm there, I go on a "hunt" for statues and public art I have not seen before - and I always find some. Merci.

Thanks -- I see we're both curious about it. Paris has a surfeit of statues, so there are some really interesting ones in there. True of several other cities I'm sure. But Paris is still planting them, and the whole city is a garden of statuary.
