Tim you don’t need 3 phase you can buy a vfd variable frequency drive for 500 or less that takes 2 phase 240 and kick it up to 3 phase or a rotary phase converter it will take a year to get 3 phase power go the farm property as there is probably not 3 phase power on that street

...and mucho $$$$
@sebastiencurrie6897 Жыл бұрын
I second this! I've installed numerous VFDs in the automotive equipment industry, just make sure if you decide to go this route, the VFD is double the HP of the load motors. Otherwise the drive will burn out. You will need a VFD for each piece of tool/equipment. And there are endless benefits as far as controlling the equipment/protecting it.
@sebastiencurrie6897 Жыл бұрын
Entry level drives are as cheap as 1000$ that is cheap considering the benefits and diversity
@Tate6788 Жыл бұрын
@@sebastiencurrie6897 very cost effective even if you buy new the cost for the utility company to directional bore or trench in a 1000a 3 phase service from the closest accessible supply would take a year minimum and be big bucks 100k plus figure 3 or 4 3 phase devices with appropriate vfd and labor would probably be less than 7500$

Hey Tim I use to live on a farm and the reason why chickens like to sit higher up at night is predators like foxes and coyotes like to eat chickens and also ferrets like to eat them they are only doing what they do naturally to avoid getting eaten. You should build something for them to perch on at night and believe me they can fly up to higher places I have seen them do it before I’ve been surprised by it I would suggest making or building something that they can perch on like I said make it somewhere that’s not in the garage. P.S my Dad got out of farming years ago because he was getting too old so it became too much for him I just remembered a lot of the things we did so our chickens didn’t go into places we didn’t want them.

Hey Tim a lot of shops out my way if they're running equipment an example is there's a machine shop out by me and also a granite countertop manufacturers..... It was cheaper for them to use a generator for their 3-phase equipment then it was to tie into the grid... The rest of the shop is running off of single-phase. That being said cconsider what the total cost difference is to use three phase service. Most utilities have a demand charge for three phase service, it could be insignificant or more than double your bill. Kilowatts are kilowatts; IF single phase power is substantially less expensive consider using a phase converter.

Tim, for the time and money it is going to take to get your power company to run 3-Phase power you would be much better off to buy a phase converter. If I were you I would reach out to fellow KZbinr Keith Rucker and talk to him about an American Rotary Phase Converter. You might also consider reaching out to Jay Paydirt about your 1693 parts problem
@goptools Жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, pretty sweet having a brand new Detroit! For the shop power, you might want to consider getting single phase power and using a VFD for any machines that need three phase. You would have to determine if the savings from using single phase would offset the cost of the VFD's. A lot of creators in the KZbin machinist community use them. You might have some luck finding the Cat oil lines on eBay. There are some on there but it looks like you need the Cat part number to make sure its the right one.

Putting a new engine in a truck that has a lot of life left in it is a wise move especially since rebuilding one yourself is challenging eill you get your shop built.
