@@asuraspath2262 The "Just because you are correct doesn't mean you're right" line has nothing to do with two different uses of the word right. Its also context based like everything else translated from Japanese. Its a translation error as it translates what Shirou says word for word in UBW making it sound convoluted in English. Shirou specifically uses the same word for correct/right twice (正し--tadashi) which in the context of the scene refers to being right(eous). The official translation is mediocre and could have completely avoided this if they worded themselves better when translating it. For instance you could translate it as "You might be correct, but that doesn't matter" or "Being right isn't everything" to name a few.

Spartan120 I actually believe “just because you are right doesn’t mean you are correct” makes sense let’s take for example thanos in avengers he wanted to destroy half of life so the remaining life could live well and that’s actually correct because of all contamination,war and resources etc but It doesn’t mean it’s right ‘cause well killing half the planet is not right but he still was correct on his plan the phrase applies more to anti-heroes who do good in a bad way or they are doing something correct but not the right way

@Rothvic Solevanti What are you talking about? Miyuverse shirou is fighting to protect his sister. His whole reason for fighting is to save miyu and the only reason he lost is because the Gilgamesh (card) in his war is not arrogant which means she would use EA immediately to win. In UBW Gilgamesh is arrogant and doesn't want to use EA on UBW shirou cause he thinks he's not worthy.
@Flaris
@Flaris 5 жыл бұрын
@@mr.searcher3507 True. The end points of those fights are defined by the opponent. In a sense UBW and Oath Shirou are near identical in what they can accomplish. Both of them were in a set position to win. UBW could cut off Gil's arm moments before he could utilize Ea. While Oath fell short because Angelica was willing to use Ainsworth magic to extend the fight and then utilize the winning move. And even though one won and the other lost the fight, they both won in accomplishing what they set out to do in the first place. UBW wanted to stop Gil, stop the grail, and even save Shinji. Oath wanted to get Miyu away from his world and the Ainsworths. It is simply that one needed to win and the other just needed to not lose before Miyu left.

He has basically all of Archer's power, he is directly supplied mana from the Holy Grail and his projections are superior to any other version of his as they allow him to project divine constructs, something no other version of Archer/Shirou can do. Also note he can project divine constructs WITHOUT the Archer card.

I felt very differently reading the visual novel to completion. I felt the Fate path was ultimately the "good ending". Maybe I was extrapolating, but I felt it was the only path where Shirou, fully, grew up. While all three of the girls reflect some inner turmoil of Shirou's back at him, I felt Arturia's was the most essential to his character, being the one who share's his core ideal of the flawless hero. The "Hero of Justice" he aspire's to be, less directly, is placed in front of his eyes, and he experiences her failure through her memories, and yet when he reflects on it near the end of the path, he "must admit, there could not have been a greater hero". I always took this to mean, Arturia, succeeded at her mission, and was the "Perfect King" she aspired to be, but even that left her feeling she had failed. I also felt it implied that this was in fact, the fate of all who had become servants. In effect the were all men who became legends, but lamented they had not become gods. All this to say, my take away from Fate, was fate itself. Not that all things are inevitable and chosen for you, but that no matter how hard you fight (Shirou), no matter how brilliant(Rin), gifted(Sakura), wealthy(Gilgamesh), wise(Cuchulain), or good(Arturia) you are, there are mountains you will not climb, struggles you will not over come, tragedies you won't stop, but you should fight anyway. Because the most beautiful thing about humanity, is our heroes, legends that light the abyss, like stars in the sky, and in the end, heroes are the ones who challenge fate, even if they always lose. I felt that only Shirou and Arturia, in the end of the "good ending" of the Fate path, learned this lesson.

I really like how the Miyu--verse Shirou adds to the equation. The different situation of the world he grew up in and his experiences shaped a very different person. It's weird how that Shirou was more isolated and yet wasn't as alone. By having someone to look after in Miyu he experienced changes. He had to keep her hidden and every day was a challenge against what ideal of being a hero he actually had. With her he saw the price that had to be paid. It wasn't just sacrificing an abstract few for an abstract many. It was being tasked with sacrificing his adopted sister's life for the abstract many. That's a different thing entirely. There are many versions of Shirou and I like many of them. The Oath Under Snow version may be my favorite though. He loses so much and has to drag himself up to try and save what he still has left. Using Archer's powers efficiently while turning away from the ideal that lead to that version of Shirou becoming a counter guardian in the first place.

also i believe ur not mentioning how much Miyu plays a role here... she’s the idea of the few that needs to be sacrificed for the many and she’s a young girl who hasn’t known how to live her life yet. we see scenes that Kiritsugu is willing to use her to save the world but Shirou slowly begins to develop feelings for Miyu and realizes that she’s just a child and chooses to raise her and let her at least experience what its like to live and be happy. Thus making the wish to teleport miyu to the Loli world where she could be happy

I think the reason why he can't use UBW in HF (He mentions this when he uses nine lives blade works VN), is he says that archers world and mine is different so he cannot reproduce it. I think this means that because he never naturally learns projection (or visits archers UBW) so his internal world is fairly empty. he can use 'only the noble phatasms that Emiya Shirou has recorded' (similarly to the Fate Route where shirou can only project Caliburn, Avalon, Kanshou & Bakuya). He can't use archers UBW to get NPs to produce because of his seals applied to his left arm, after unsealing archers arm he can replicate Nine Lives by taking it from archers UBW whilst his mind fractures because of the strain of overusing projection. The reason why Shriou from OUS is so quickly being corrupted by Archer never had avalon inside him (Kiritsugu never joins the 4th holy grail war due to him looking for a holy grail to save mankind and the Matou head dies along with Zachary Ainzworth, whilst the Einzberns and Tohsakas we are unclear on their existence) meaning he could never learn projection and UBW properly so when he realises that his basic reinforcement magic (the only one that he seems to be able to use). When he got given the blank card just after Sakura is killed he sees a future self as hero he asks him to use his body and soul as the cost to ground and use archers skills. Which he accepts of course his appearance using the archer card is similar to angra mainyu in fate hollow attraxia (I think of this shirou as an avenger at heart). The reason he is so much better than other card users is he is let archers memories and skills possess him completely to the point OUS Shirou's soul and body (shown when he tries to use UBW the second time and his right arm and hair turn into archers body) is being overwritten by archer and eventually would become a young version of archer. This isn't true for anyone else they just use the characters instinct and reflexes for attacks. This occurs when Zachary Ainsworth using the Saber card uses excalibur one handed (This is implied that it would fail and break the arm of the user) Or when Angelica using Gilgameshs card uses his mountain felling sword inside against gils new incarnation (his kid version). In the same fight she tries to use the Enkidu aginst gil who takes control of it and pisses him off by trying to use it. Heroic Spirit Emiya liked this version of himself enough to agree to this contract as he thought his ideals were not so contrived and not so unattainable.

No the reason he cant use it(deploy it) is because their iinner worlds are different.Shirou in UBW fully understands himself and his ideal.That is what allows him to use UBW.And that relization happens when he is laying on the ground after being "cornered" by Gil. He always knew Projection(before the start of the series(except OUS Shirou whoI dont think ever learned it).. And he can "easily" project NPs only Archer has seen.That is how he projects Caladbolg and Rho Aias in HF.Even when he used the fuull capabilities of K&B he used Archer's "prerecorded" info.

Miyuverse Shirou is not transforming in Archer, its because projection beyond his capacity, he has Archer experience and Miyu backing him with more mana that what he can use in a lifetime but his body is not at that level,only then he starts to get his skin burned and his hair white, and damaging his circuits possibly beyond repair, I mean is a natural process for him after using enough projection, Notice it only happens after he loses the Archer card, because he is using it by himself not with EMIYA "body", when installed the person is partially overwritten by the heroic spirit allowing to do feats in servant level because their existence is somehow recognized as the heroic spirit and not the person installing it; and while they don't get all the heroic spirits power virtue of getting rid of their egos, Zachary only used Excalibur one handed because he only had one arm

HF Shirou actually CAN use UBW. Rin says so herself in the true end epilogue. It's just that he needs to train his body a bit, because his powers in the route are stolen from Archer's arm and he has a completely new body to adjust to. Despite that, Shirou has to use his own version of UBW to draw weapons from throughout the route. As for Oath Under Snow, Shirou doesn't use Emiya after defeating Zachary who acts as the Saber. He has to give up the card to send Miyu away. Illya's statement about self destruction is purely that Shirou has been abusing his powers so much that he's so damaged he can't invoke UBW fully anymore without risking death.

I like Oath Under Snow Emiya Shirou the best. I think like me, most people find Miyuverse Shirou as the most relatable. Because, deep deep down, all humans are selfish, and most people would rather save the people they love, over the world. This is the main reason why I like Miyuverse Shirou the best, because he's human, he's selfish, and he's not blindly trying to chase an Ideal or become a symbol. Most of all though, he doesn't try to justify his ideal, he doesn't try to push it on another person, he understands the consequences of his actions.

I think you have a weird idea of what human means. Humans blindly chase ideals, fetishise martyrdom and victimhood to become and fabricate symbols (Even going so far as to call themselves and their lives a symbol of something). People also justify their ideals with mixed results, and most of all, people absolutely do push their ideas onto others. Democracy is founded on this principle, it's just worded and applied differently. Your humans are aliens, don't exist or you live in a Utopia where none of the above happens, if so tell me the address so I can join you please.

@@BygoneT I would say that he's the realization of a Human when reality hit. Life is not easy, when we were little, we had big ambition and dream. However, 99% will realize that was just a fleeting dream when we grew up. This is why Miyuverse Shirou was relatable because of that realization alone.
@BygoneT
@BygoneT 5 жыл бұрын
@@zhaoyun255 I'm very sorry, I can't find an example of a Shirou that hasn't had to deal with reality. The entire point of his character, at least in the three original routes, is to see what happens to ideals taken to the extreme, when they clash with reality. Of course, I assume what happens is that everyone understands things aren't as simple as we thought it was. Some people are just more stubborn and don't let go, of those that don't, a few make it. (I say a few, but there are various tens of thousands of these people) Something being relatable is a concept that always made me think. People relate to what's similar to them, most of the time. But for whatever reason sometimes we relate to things that are completely alien to us. I don't think it's something you can logically do (Relating, that is), unless you're so broad a person you can connect with everyone's struggles. For example, UBW Shirou is my absolute favourite, even though he's an absolutely insane person at his core. And the reason I do, is the same reason I scoff at people who say HF Shirou is "Adult Shirou", "He has finally grown up and left behind his childish Idealism of saving people", and other such idiocy. Almost every single person on the planet has something they are emotionally, or in Shirou's case, existentially attached to and that something they won't let go. For some, it's the idea that somewhere out there, there's a "Right person", who is magically compatible with us so much, you have to put in 0 work to have them like you. For others it's something else. But calling Shirou immature because he values *saving close people's lives* over everything else, is insane. These same people then turn around and demand that police exist for the sole purpose of sacrificing their life to protect them. I can absolutely agree that I relate more to OUS Shirou more than his Fate version. But I can't simply discount UBW, because despite what people say, Ideals control their lives. And Shirou learns to live with it.

Where as in Oath under snow we have Shirou seeing Julian being this hero but at the cost of killing Sakura and taking Miyu away, around that same time he realizes saving the many is breaking him thus he says before using the Archer card, “my ideals are shattering” he uses the card in response to not caring about saving the many anymore and instead chooses willingly to save the FEW and call himself the “villain” because he’s against the world

In fact, by saving Sakura he is also saving the world. While he has chosen the path that causes the most damage to the masses and with the least likely chance of working, he is still in a way being a hero even if he thinks he has no right to become one anymore. Unlike OUS Shirou, who rejects his ideal and chooses to stand against the world as a "villain", HF Shirou is simply finding a balance between doing what is logically and morally right and selfishly clinging to the ones he values. Basically, he just learned to prioratise. PS: All of this purely my interpretation and you're free to ignore it if you wish.

Something that I've constantly been thinking about: Archer came from a route similar to the Fate route, but without achieving the same end as Shirou, without helping Arturia. But in Archer's route, Archer EMIYA never existed. Now, in Fate/Stay Night, Archer is summoned, and this subsequently leads to the various routes. Therefore, Archer is the ultimate unintentional wingman to Shirou. Shirou Emiya is Shirou Emiya's greatest wingman.

Great video, but there's one point that seemed wierd to me. I wouldn't say that Shirou is "privileged" in a traditional sense of the word. The only thing out of the list that was just granted to him was the Emiya household and Taiga (and even there he's more of a caretaker than she is). His job, fitness and magic abilities are all fruits of his hard work and his forgoing of any kind of entertainment that's normal for a kid his age, not to mention the crazy sleep schedule.
@LeonGun8
@LeonGun8 5 жыл бұрын
His job is through contacts even if he doesn't realizes it. His boss is literally drinking buddies with Taiga and the Fujimura Clan. In fact, Taiga and her dad alone already give him a big advantage in life because he quite literally has a Yakuza boss who ensures he lives an easy life, that's why he doesn't even have to pay the bills of his house nor deal with anything beyond household chores. I may also add that they do mention other details like the fact the Head Priest of the Ryuudou Temple is also friends with Taiga and Shirou, and Shirou liked to take summer breaks training with the other monks (so that's yet another important member of the city he is friends with). So yes, he IS privileged. His problems are not financial and one might even say that he has more money saved than Rin (Rin is confirmed to be barely scraping by on her own savings due to her expensive jewel magecraft and Kotomine losing all the Tohsaka family's stores). Sure, his physical abilities and what little he has of magical abilities are his and his alone, but none of that has to do with the concept of being privileged. He doesn't have to practice magic, Kiritsugu made it so he never had to and barely taught him enough for him to be forced down the path. And you can be a rich kid with "first class problems" and be fit at the same time.
@darthskele
@darthskele 5 жыл бұрын
He's privileged to even have the opportunity to do those things. He imposes those things onto himself as a form of training, but what if he didn't have the shed or the Emiya household? I doubt a well-mannered kid like Shirou would ever impose himself on anyone's personal living space to perform his training, not to mention the fact that public magecraft is dangerous to perform and might himself and others hunted by the church. He's *lucky* to have that large house. There are Japanese kids who basically live in boxes their whole lives because real estate in Japan is ridiculous. Shirou is a hard worker, but he has room to pursue these things. He has no siblings to look after, no illnesses he needs to nurse or medical expenses for things like cancer or pain killers for back problems due to poor genetics. There's people my age who need to take epidural shots every two weeks because of their poorly built spines. Shirou doesn't ever have to worry about such things, he has all the time and the potential in the world to reach his self imposed goals. Shirou has no parents who will get in the way of him trying to be a hero. That's why he's able to bring his whole harem to live with him and not get flak for it. He is able to sleep in his shed as much as he pleases. Any well involved parent would put a stop to his foolish behavior. Of course, as the audience, we know it helped him in the long run, but to them, they'd be seeing their son risk frostbite and colds for sleeping without a blanket in a frigid and dusty shed. Shirou has a decent character, but don't deny that he doesn't have privileges over other protagonists.

The only issue i have with this video is that you didnt use the visual novel Shirou and instead focused on the anime adaptions. It gives a somewhat skewed version of his character in that Fate Shirou is not chasing the heroic ideal like Archer did in his timeline, he was chasing Arturia. He eventually squared away the same realizations of UBW and HF Shirou, so the 3 Shirou's conclusions in the 5th war itself are merely the catalyst for the transition they would make for the rest of their lives

In a sense the Fate route is the season or episode one and burdened by having to build up the world, which is probably why Ufotable opted to do the second and now third routes because redoing Fate would be more retreading then anything and while Deen's take wasn't perfect it told the story well enough (for the most part). As far as VN vs Anime goes the really big difference in regards to Shirou is the inner monologue losing that in the anime some see his actions as reckless when their deeper then that as far as his motivation for doing them goes. That said the conclusions and observations in this video still hold true for VN Shirou I think, the VN just goes a ways more to explaining it. I'd argue that OUS Shirou is a deconstruction of a deconstruction since OG Shirou in some respects is a deconstruction of the Shonen "Heroic Spirit" trope that like you point out is that spirit or dream meeting reality hard and the friction and conflict that results.

I was admittedly a little confused by the alignment chart at first. Claiming HF Shirou to be selfless when one of the bigger parts of the route is that he is being selfish threw me off a bit. He is potentially jeopardizing (which becomes sacrificing as the route goes on) the lives of many people in Fuyuki, all so that he can be with Sakura. However as you continued to make your points, it became clear to me that I was coming at this from the wrong perspective. I was looking too broadly when I should have been fixed on the perspective of Shirou as a character. Perhaps I shouldn't be watching character analyses videos first thing in the morning.

"heroism may be at the core of who shirou is" Although this is a fairly well put together video for the resources you have, I feel you either ignored the VN stories or haven't read the VN. Either way, they Shirou in the visual novels is vastly different from the anime, sadly. And I think the quote above kind of encapsulates why the anime only people see him as some sort of idealist. The reality is that in the 3 main routes Shirou is not striving to be a hero. Theres a few main things you mentioned about him that told me that the anime never really got the point across of just how damaged of an individual he is. Shirou strives towards the ideal bestowed upon him by Kerry not because he wants to be a hero, but because its literally all he has left. Several times Shirou is confronted by characters along each route telling him how insane he is for putting himself in suicidal situations just for the sake of maybe saving someone. It's not actually a sense of heroism that drives him to do this, its suicidal tendencies. When the fire came along, its not shown in any of the anime, but there were several people who asked him for help while everything was burning. Shirou tried his best but he was honestly helpless being so small and inexperienced. He saw several people be burned alive right in front of him as he was helpless to do anything. It was never clear how hurt he was during the fire but it is more than what was shown in the anime. On the verge of death and after seeing all those horrors, this is where the boy we know as Shirou Emiya accepted the fact that he is going to die and that he wants to die, not because he is injured beyond fixing, but because he didn't want to live anymore. It's mentioned in the VN but I think it's only tangentially addressed in the UBW anime. Right here is where Shirou "dies". The only thing that keeps Shirou form giving up on life entirely is the fact that he gets to see Kerry smile so wholeheartedly and he decides that he wants to experience that himself. So once Kerry tells him that he wanted to be a Hero of Justice, this is where Shirou decides that thats what will make him whole again. Unfortunately he is still extremely damaged from the fire and is arguably inhuman at this point. The fire left him so traumatized at his powerlessness that he from then on decided that he will live his life for others and will try his best to make up for it any way he can. But, Shirou has a fundamental misunderstanding of how to accomplish this and along with his trauma of being one of the few people to survive the fire, he is haunted by that event and the people he couldn't save. Survivors guilt is an understatement to be honest. As such, any situation where Shirou could possibly offer his life in exchange for saving someone else is a valid excuse to run in and attempt to die. Anime only people equate this with Shirou being dumb and escaping situations due to being the protagonist and having plot armor, but the reality is he goes into suicidal situations with the HOPE that he may die so that his existence can be justified. So that there is a reason for him to have been one of the only ones to survive. To give you an example of how inhuman hes become, Shirou wasn't just really good at archery club, if not the captain wouldn't have been so adamant about having him back and Shinji might not have been so jealous. Shirou literally never missed. He had become so close to a tool himself because of his lack of self that he was able to consistently hit the bullseye every time. The only time he missed was on purpose solely to see if it was possible. There's a lot more that the VN goes into about Shirou's twisted POV but the results are slightly different from what happens in the anime. Stay/Night - Saber teaches Shirou to let go of the past and attempt to live for himself. She makes him whole again and in turn he no longer feels the need to pursue being a hero of justice. In the true end of Stay/Night and through what Nasu has said through interviews, this Shirou never becomes a counter guardian. He does however have a new purpose, meeting saber again, and devotes the rest of time running to see her again.

I don't think that's EMIYA Alter. In his head, though he finds it detestably, Alter actually justifies his life as a Counter Guardian, more so than Kiritsugu or EMIYA after UBW. Alter has been so broken through his encounter with Kiara (and allegedly Sakura, though not confirmed) that he has rationalised in his head that killing the Evils that threaten Humanity is all that matters in heroism, regardless of the cost, fully embracing the doctrine of the Counter Force to the point of self-indoctrination. In the visual novels, maybe around the point in Heaven's Feel where Shirou fights Berserker, he notes that his and Archer's world have become incompatible and he can't conjure up Unlimited Blade Works. This is why Shirou never used it in Heaven's Feel (aside from the fact that likely doing so would've been worse than going the Sparks Liner High route). In the epilogue though it is implied that Shirou not only can use projection again but can also manifest his own Reality Marble. As for what it may look like? Nobody knows. Some doujin artists attempted it in the past when writing their own fan stories but nothing official on it, AFAIK.

I always wanted to explore more about Shiki Tohno, because I find him to be the Typemoon's representation of Truth. Just like how Emiya Shirou is the representation of Ideal. The reason why I don't have the same thought about Ryougi Shiki is because, she is more like a God, rather than a Human who tried to overcome something. A greater being who hid itself from everything, only to show up at somepoint in time. Whilst Shirou pursued an ideal of becoming a hero of justice. Shiki Tohno obtained the truth that life is too fragile, in a way that doesn't make it cliche. The phrase is always heard in many shows, but it obtained a new meaning for me because Shiki Tohno is the one who said it. He was allowed to easily end any life. He can see the points and line of death, and even with the use of a pencil he can take lives. Yet, he didn't abuse such powers. Shiki understood the fragility of life more than anyone, just like how Shirou understand what it means to follow his ideal of becoming a hero of justice. in a way it can be said that, Shiki Tohno understand the fragility of life, while Shiki Ryougi simply knows it completely. It's like The truth is a normal thing for Shiki Ryougi.

I think that Oath Under Snow Shirou is my favorite because he is the one who I empathize with the most. I would burn the world for my own little sister so I can understand his desire to save Miyu above all else. My second favorite Shirou would have to be the Fate Route Shirou and then Heavens Feel Shirou because one is standing by his ideals the other is straying from those ideals so the reflection aspect makes me enjoy those two more. UBW Shirou (not Archer) feels more like a "Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it" kind of story and so it's more of a personal struggle to simultaneously live up to his ideals and fight against a version of himself who has tried to cast aside those ideals. UBW Shirou is like a story from the perspective of the past version of someone with a future version of themselves trying to kill them. You don't normally see that perspective so I think it's interesting, but not as compelling to me as the more personal struggles without a direct conflict with Archer. Shirou from mainline Prisma Illya is a sweetheart who has way too much bullshit going on around him and is completely oblivious to things, but he tries to be there for his little sister and Kuro as best he can given his circumstances. It just turns out that things never really go his way.

I think this is my favorite fate related video. I really admire the characters in fate (except Shinji) because of how complex they are- Shirou most of all since with every different installment that includes him we see a different part of him. This video feels like a celebration to all Shirou Emiya fans because for a lot of us we can’t really describe Shirou to well but this just takes everything and neatly lays it out on the table. Seriously Blue this is was absolutely amazing.

Oath Under Snow Shirou's core difference from the Stay Night Shirous is I think his version of Kiritsugu... That Kiritsugu is one that hasn't started the flooding of Angra Mainyu, one that doesn't have Irisviel and Illya and therefore is fundamentally different... He didn't wanted to save Miyu He wanted to use her, sacrifice her for "the greater good" and Shirou comes into friction with this "hero ideal" while Kiritsugu is alive, as he sees in Miyu a child that hasn't got the chance of being human because of Kiritsugu's Ideal... Because that Kiritsugu doesn't have Illya and he doesn't have already access to a Lesser Grail (Illya and Chloe have shown to have wish granting powers to a certain extent) and in that reality he is not the one that causes the cataclysmic event of the Holy Grail War, the Ainzworths did it, his humanity and connection is severely lacking, therefore his hero of justice ideal is cruel, which makes it so that it doesn't truly gets inherited by Shirou... What that Shirou inherited is a desire to be a hero, in order to create a better world for his little sister, who becomes his world... He is different because that Kiritsugu's ideal is really different from the one he gets in Stay Night and therefore Shirou's priorities change drastically, as apart from an "ideal" he inherits Miyu, a girl whose only wish is to be his sister, to be his family, to be with him...

Emiya Shirō in Kaleid has still an Ally of Justice mindset. He saved Miyu because he thought it was impossible for a small girl being either the evil in the world and the things that if sacrificed will allow the world to survive. And he has reason, however in the 4th season after losing the "flame" of ideals that warms his heart, he regains it in a new confrontation with his ideals, but this time he is sure that he will try save the world and everyone, and probably we will hear a different chant to summon the Unlimited Blade Works

OOF not mentioning Last Episode when it comes to Fate Shirou misses a key point to what makes him different from UBW HF and OUS Shirou. Especially when you mention Fate Shirou compared to OUS and UBW didn't get UBW while technically correct he does eventually get it as seen in Last Episode and much like UBW Shirou it's an endless wasteland of a wanderer who will endlessly try to reach the unreachable, thus reflecting the only small change to that UBW it lacks the brightness of UBW's and in it's cracks one can see it through Avalon.

I thought sympathizing with archer was easy to do, its like Shirou from UBW, he had a life where killing would break him and before he became a counter guardian he didn’t kill he only saved the people he could even if it would result in his death. At one point in his life he was trying to stop a war and his “Allies” betrayed him and ended up branding him as the mastermind of that war and was executed for it. When this happened he said “humans will be humans” and forgave them but when he became a counter guardian he had to kill countless people and this was kiritsugus method but on a larger scale by saving the many at the cost of the few, for obvious reasons Shirou didn’t agree with that method he wanted to save as many as possible as opposed to killing anyone. Eventually Shirou gets tired of killing people and is desperately looking for a way out the contract and remembers the pendant and tries to get himself summoned by Rin in the 5th holy grail war. As a note here: when he tells Rin that his memories are hazy he doesn’t tell the full truth he does remember who he is he just doesn’t remember everything just the important details like the fire

I mean, the heaven's feel shiro is actually very selfish, because he chooses to go for sakura despite being fully aware that he'd be knowingly condeming everyone else to death since he already knew that she was the thing that kept killing people left and right and consuming the servants, the selfish desire to save one person versus many is anything but selfless from my prospective (I mean, besides the fact that he dedicated himself to save her no matter the cost)

@Omega Zero yeah. Agree with you. HF Shirou and UBW Shirou actually not really different from each other. They still trying to save everyone. It just HF Shirou lost almost of plot armor ( which UBW Shirou has. Remember, the world almost will be destroyed if CG Archer doesn't come to save UBW Shirou and Rin). While every Shirou always talking about save people. It is HF Shirou who really understand everyone' suffering among him. It is only him who hold both Sakura and Illya, and cries for their fate, wishing that if he can save both of them. With me, Fate and UBW Shirou is Karl Marx, who cost his life to talk about his wishing to save people. That is why we see him so clean and beauty. While HF Shirou is the real person who really jump into the abyss to save people, that is why we see him more "dirty" than other Shirou.

However, I don't think that she knows where she should destroy at first. She actually mentions that they should kill "vessel" ( Shinji) first, instead of the "Black Hole". However, Saber only can use Excalibur for one time. If she tries to destroy the Hole, the vessel is still there to keep the hole open ( actually, we don't sure about it. Hope it will work). I think Shirou shows the potential of Visual Novels, because it lets you see so many different angles of the same protagonist, and that lets you come to such a deep and personal bond to the character. This concept by the way extends further, as in, I personally think the idea of a Visual Novel format should be applied to other types of games, multiple endings, various ways to die from making bad choices (think of it like an RPG where decisions give you experience, not farming), think of playing Shirou, you fail at UBW or tried to do it before Fate route, You are now fighting with Rin, in the school, You're outmatched though because your poor decisions gave you no experience, thus you're under-classed and she kills you, same as the visual novel, but like much worse than even an Anime, because you have to play as she catches up to you

I like how even though we never got the full adaptation of Shirou’s journey into becoming Archer, but we still get an idea of which path each Shirou is more likely to end up on through the different Archers DEEN Shirou is Archer Emiya (clueless idiot, making the same mistakes) UBW Shirou is Nameless Emiya (continuing to strive for his ideal self through hardships) OUS Shirou is Emiya Alter (given up on everything, even his blades)

From my understanding, the reason why 'Miyuverse Shirou' was able to use UBW in OUS is because he stole the powers of the Counter-Force from an unrealized ideal in Heroic Spirit EMIYA. Since the class card was a fake, Shirou forged a path to that unrealized ideal; had he taken the 'Hero' path. Instead, like explained in the video, Shirou wasn't given the same treatment as in the original universe of Fate, Shirou had to 'create' an ideal. But, and I am theorizing, that seems to me like the Counter-Force exists for every Hero it applies to; regardless of the universe and version of that individual. So, simplistically, Shirou stole the power from the Counter-Force for the potential Heroic Spirit EMIYA of that universe. Since he is justified in his means, and resembles and 'Chaotic/Evil' spirit, I would propose that he is 'Neutral/Evil'. As he seeks to accomplish a selfish wish, but doesn't seek to kill indiscriminately; only to kill those who directly stand in his way.

Me personally likes HF&OUS Shirou the most. They are no longer the hero they wanted to be, but became a different kind of hero in a different way. It reminds me of Touma from index, they are willing to fight the whole world just for one person's sake. Fate Stay Shiro is his innocence to the world, UBW is his realization of the cruel reality of the world while at the same time overcoming that cruelty to become his own person. In all honesty i think the Shiro from fate stay is Archer in UBW. it makes sence cause this archer is much more knowledgeable about his surrondings .
