About Kalathos (basket). There is a touching story behind its creation .. According to Vitruvius, the inventor of the Corinthian basket was the sculptor and theoretician Callimachus who was inspired by a basket found in the tomb of a girl in Corinth. The basket, where her toys were placed, was covered by a square plate. Acanthus had grown around the basket following its shape. This is how the Corinthian basket was born according to legend.
