They came from ireland , rather poetic considering saint piran came to cornwall from there and brang a new age of faith to the cornish people , perhaps the choughs will bring a new age too for cornwall.

Its Chow not Chuff. Pronounced Chow after its call not Chuff as the BBstupidC wildlife presenters started calling it a couple of years ago. Many of our oldest bird names - including raven, rook, crow, cuckoo, and jackdaw - are onomatopoeic: they imitate the sound made by the bird itself. Chiffchaff and Kittiwake are other well-known examples.
