An hour long rant dancing on the MCU's grave since the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a laughing stock since the Infinity Saga ended and the Multiverse Saga began but I'm sure Kevin Feige's master plan will save us all.

If you think of the MCU as a pathogen victim it makes sense on where you can notice the decline, Antman & Wasp was where the symptoms first showed up but they were very mild. Then Captain Marvel released and the infection was noticeable but could still be treated, however by the time we get to Falcon & Winter Soldier the infection had begun to mutate and from there it just snowballs as the victim begins to decay from the inside out.

It is utterly pointless, cringe and obviously only in there to serve THE MESSAGE. Meanwhile, Wonda single handedly terrifies Thanos to the point he risks destroying his own army to get her off him. No one has an issue with that because she's earned that payoff and we understand her power. Is that not a real "girl power" moment? To be more of a single handed threat to the big bad and scare him more than any of the holy trinity ever did, even when they fight together? Figure it out.

😭I do not! Negative trolls on the internet who even find ways to tear apart mostly solid, successful stories in Spider-Man No Way Home and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3! His lack of faith in Deadpool 3 is really depressing to me. What does Anomaly Inc want to have out of self-aware humor, if he wants to have it at all? If he will criticize the uncertain plan for multiverse saga all he wants, the real question I have to ask Anomaly Inc in return is - "How would you rewrite the multiverse saga to your liking by coming up with your own smarter plan for it, in the theory that not making it at all is not an option? How would you fix this for Kevin Feige if you had to?"
@youtubeviolatedme7123
@youtubeviolatedme7123 Жыл бұрын
@@Adamkalb1 I'm going to answer the questions you have asked on behalf of Nomz. I'm not trying to be confrontational, I just don't want to give the impression that we haven't considered the questions you're rightfully asking. "What does Anomaly Inc want to have out of self-aware humor, if he wants to have it at all?" We want humor that isn't self-contained. What I mean by that is the humor in the movie should either require context from other parts of the movie to be understandable, or the humor should have consequences later in the story. This ensures that the humor doesn't interrupt the pacing of the story, and can have a more practical utility outside of making the audience laugh for a brief few seconds. I understand that some movies are trying to be screwball comedies, but the MCU doesn't make comedies, the MCU makes superhero movies, which means there is a hero and a villain in every story. The stakes are not just physical, rather there are personal stakes between the hero and villain, which means that the emotional conflict has to be taken somewhat seriously if the audience is going to feel like those stakes have any urgency. That means not stopping the movie for a self-contained joke, and using jokes to establish tone or characterize a relationship. "How would you rewrite the multiverse saga to your liking by coming up with your own smarter plan for it, in the theory that not making it at all is not an option?" I haven't watched any MCU property after Endgame, but if a gun was pointed to my head and I had to make the multiverse saga happen, I would recreate exactly what happened in the Infinity Saga. That means sending off legacy characters with Disney+ shows, for a fresh start so that the movies can be for new characters. That also separates the shows from the movies, so you don't need a subscription to be emotionally invested in the movies, but if you want an epilogue for the legacy characters, then get a subscription. It's hard to fit the specifics of a plan for multiple movies and TV shows into one comment, so sorry for not being very detailed. "How would you fix this for Kevin Feige if you had to?" Make a crossover movie with all the characters from the movies that flopped. That way their characters become more memorable to the audience as it would be central to the interpersonal conflicts driving the stakes of the movie. And it shows an earnest intention to the audience to make each movie matter.

What made Marvel great in the first place at least for me was when they had their brand of storytelling look and feel more grounded and compelling. Marvel nowadays doesn't really have that same feel to it because overtime they have placed a heavy emphasis on inserting a bunch of politically correct propaganda and limitations on a lot of their characters to the point of their stories feeling formulaic and boring. This started in the comics and bled over into the movies. The early MCU may have been a rough start for Marvel, but it in my opinion is truly where the franchise succeeded. And I think the real reason why the MCU went on a decline as of late was because of the weird changes Kevin Fiege and Marvel Studios made to the overall lore in all of the later movies, even with phase 2. Now yes we can always make the argument that the middle chunk of the MCU had some decent characters and concepts, but I think if we're being honest with ourselves none of them really hold a candle to what was done with Ultimate Marvel and the earlier phases of the MCU. Say what you want about retro Marvel, but a lot of the movies in that era were fantastic. And all had characters and concepts that are arguably more enriching than what the later MCU movies gave us. And the same can be argued for phase one of the MCU. Thor in the early movies was actually given more interesting character development than he ever got in Avengers Endgame. Thor's tragic fall really could've been handled differently. Fat Thor is a character concept that clearly feels like a mediocre character concept. I would imagine that losing his people would've actually made him a reclusive drunk instead of a fat slob. I say it feels like a mediocre character concept because they really could've portrayed his downfall in a much deeper way like Ultimate Marvel did in the comics, but they didn't. Also may I mentioned that they completely butchered the Ragnarok storyline which took a much deeper direction in the comics. So therefore fat Thor is a joke. Sure the concept of fat Thor may be fun, it may be real entertaining to look at, but it's not anything enriching. I want to see the greatness in Marvel's storytelling be presented on screen. And I think everyone else is just okay with mediocrity. That's the issue I have with Marvel personally. For example when it comes to Thor breaking out his greatest villain from prison and teaming up with him to save the world from an even larger threat. I don't know call me crazy, but that sounds like enriching storytelling right there. Yet everyone and their mom trashed Thor The Dark World because it didn't live up their standards of what a good superhero movie aught to be. And I think the overall Marvel lore has been plagued with a bunch of millennials who don't understand the concept of good storytelling to the point where if you were to point out anything wrong about a Marvel movie's storytelling they'll likely give you the feedback of just be happy. And it's like no I'm not gonna be happy about mediocre storytelling. Especially when I've seen people like Sam Raimi portray Marvel's characters in a much better way.

The gender swaps and stories about lesser known characters are what’s hurting the MCU. I’m 45 and contrary to popular belief I’m the core audience. I’m the audience that grew up with these characters on Saturday mornings. These movies are for “me” and my son/nephew to connect. The problem is they have been making these movies for the female dollars and indirectly for comic book fans. The problem with catering to comic fans is, they get weekly updates to their content and don’t need to wait years for the story. So the comics allow for people to be invested in Captain Carter or Shuri etc..

I forgot that's where Buscemi's line came from, always liked it. Not to get all philosophical, but I have to agree with it. Mankind is capable of the greatest kindnesses in the darkest times, and yet the darkest evils in the name of good. I think God and the devil as depicted in the holy texts would indeed be terrified of our potential. A being of pure evil simply cannot understand evil on the same level as one who can love. One who is pure good cannot understand good on the same level as one capable of evil. The ability to make that choice is a force any deity may one day come to reckon with. Back to MCU, they're choosing the easy, evil path while the difficult but good path should have been clear to them.

I hate that people call this the multiverse saga. Not even half the projects deal with the concept of the multiverse, and even when they do it usually amounts to nothing more than quick cameo's. I'm pretty sure you can sum up the multiverse "saga" with four arcs in this phase. Loki, Spidey No way home, Dr. Strange, and What if? What else do any of these movies/shows have to do with the multiverse?

5:00 I strongly disagree, Spider-Man under Disney was going to be butchered to oblivion. Sure I suppose having Stark's tech and the resources of the Avengers aid Peter Parker on his journey to becoming Spider-Man could make way for a more nuanced take on the character, but Spider-Man on his own is too great for Iron Man and the Avengers to the point where it could easily villainize the character and come across as misleading to the superhero community. I mean having Spider-Man become the next armored avenger is like having Superman become a cardboard cut-out of Batman by having him be a massive D-bag in every story to make the character more interesting when the character is already interesting on his own. And Peter Parker fighting battles on his own is the whole point of him being Spider-Man. Now, if Miles Morales was actually given the development of Iron Boy Jr in the MCU instead of Peter, it would've made more sense considering that his Miles is more diverse than Peter. Whereas Peter however has always been more of his own character than anything else. I mean an entire share universe was built off of him. And besides it's not like Disney's approach to Spider-Man would've been any better than what Sony would've done in the long run considering that they only ever owned half of the character rights that Sony has. Yes, No Way Home was a lack luster conclusion to Tom Holland's Spider-Man, but at the same time I don't see how the movie could've been any better under Disney's direction if they had full control.

Modern cgi doesn’t look like it’s gone past 2011. If more practical effects and settings are used it’s not as noticeable but when it fills the screen and/or obscures the characters it begins to look closer to a video game or at least an altered world (if the creators are smart they’ll try to compensate and make it part of the story/view itself like Avatar or the SW Prequels) Then there’s films like anaconda or animal farm where the cgi is so bad you wonder why they bothered at all😂

19:55 BASED!!! I've often said that Taika Waititi wasn't a proper person to direct a Thor film since his style of comedy doesn't mesh with the Thor formula and because Taika lacks self-control for letting a serious moment play out. The fact that boasted how he'll "ruin your mythos in a heartbeat, baby" like a smug, arrogant twat douchbag, I'm not at all surprised that now he's getting his comeuppance. I'm just glad that people like you, Josiah Rises, Jeremy from Geeks and Gamers, Ryan Kinal and even the Critical Drinker have used their platforms to call him out on. Feel free to disagree with me, but to this day, the only truly good Thor film was the first film, which captured the very essence of the Thor comics and the tone those stories told. It was an emotionally serious film but had enough comedy to hold people's attention as well as lighten the mood when the scene called for it. And Kenneth Branagh understands character dynamics and emotional moments that resonate with the audience unlike Taika Waititi who just goes "LOL, let's make fun of everything I see that looks ridiculous." P.S. at 20:35, you have my condolences that you wasted money on this abortion. Even though I'm more of a Thor fan than a Tom Cruise fan, I knew just awful this film was going to due to Taika's comments that I actually bought a ticket for Top Gun Maverick then snuck into the theater just to watch Love and Blunder. At least my money went to a movie that was deserving of it instead of this insult of a movie.

I remember getting mocked and ridiculed in 2019 by all my friends when I told them that I would no longer be watching any MCU movies after Endgame. I knew that even in the best case scenario, where everything after phase 3 would be amazing, that Endgame would be the peak of this franchise. I knew it would be best to end my relationship with the franchise on a movie like Endgame, that actually, finally offered more closure than any other MCU movie before. I do not regret my decision, and I thoroughly enjoy people finally sharing my viewpoint.
@Adamkalb1
@Adamkalb1 Жыл бұрын
Not everything after Avengers: Endgame was bad. I actually liked many of the non-She-Hulk Disney+ shows for more than people usually give them credit for, because I admired their different writers' ability to be experimental in telling new smaller-scale stories that were longer than your typical Marvel movie, but also shorter than half of a full season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
@youtubeviolatedme7123
@youtubeviolatedme7123 Жыл бұрын
@@Adamkalb1 I never said everything after Endgame was bad. To quote my original comment, (I don't blame you for skimming through it, I could have written it more concisely), what I said was: "I knew that even in the best case scenario, where everything after phase 3 would be amazing, that Endgame would be the peak of this franchise." Even if every project from the MCU after Endgame was good, I would highly doubt it could give me the same simultaneous elation and closure that Endgame gave me. I would still feel disappointed even if I enjoyed everything that came afterwards. I believed in 2019 and continue to believe that the best of the MCU is behind us. I feel like people have only just started to accept that, but admittedly that's based on anecdotal evidence.

Give any other reason besides the spoon fed one) This is the only movie I disagree with you on. F**k the rest of them after Endgame minus guardians 3. 11:10 It's impressive how you speak without talking. You keep saying it relies too much on cameos and "Muh childhood" but then also don't give any further context as to why it is a bad movie or why the characters are bad in general. You say nothing about their characters within the film and how they work off each other. Your argument is as shallow as it gets as is. You wanna have this take then at least have the audacity to commit to it. Give context instead of going, "fan service bad" for 3 minutes. Let me add to your Wakanda Forever part, they should have recast T’Challa. What they were doing is slapping black men in the face like they typically like to slap white men in the face. They literally said “just replace the black man” with a black woman. Just like what happens in real life. Chadwick’s death was sad but the show has to go on. And if they believed in the “diversity” that they preached, they would have made sure that Black Panther was a black man that little black boys could look up to. On the pure fan side of it, we were robbed of T’Challa vs. Namor. What’s next are they going to make Shuri and Storm lesbian lovers? This movie was a negative emotional experience for me and a lot of other black men. Rant over.

1:24 No, you shut up. Fat Thor is actually one of the worst addictions to the MCU. Him along with Professor Hulk aka Shrek's long lost cousin and Iron Boy Jr. Who let's be honest never really had a chance of standing out in the MCU despite what Captain America Civil War would tell you. Firstly because Spider-Man has always been built off of the character of Peter Parker who's known for being a symbol for the working class and secondly, Marvel never had any real concret plans for Spider-Man in the MCU. They only brought him into the MCU because fans wanted to see him interact with other Marvel heroes. And on top of that much like fat Thor and Professor Hulk Iron Boy Jr was a character created by corporatism. Iron Boy Jr was a collaborative work made by Sony and Marvel. And Sony essentially took back full control of Spider-Man once they noticed how detached Marvel was from telling actual good stories with the character. So it's interesting how you say that No Way Home is entirely built around fan service and bate when that is exactly what Captain America Civil War did with Spider-Man back in 2016.
