I keep reading online that there's supposed to be another verse to this: Rouse, rouse ye kilted warriors, Rouse heroes of the North! Rouse, join our chieftain's banners, 'Tis your Prince that leads you forth! Shall we basely crouch to tyrants? Shall we own a foreign sway? Shall a royal Stuart be banish'd, While a stranger rules the day? Anybody know why the Corries didn't include this?
@ComradeGrimmGames6 жыл бұрын
Laurie Edwards Probably no significant reason. They were doing a live performance and they might not have had time. Perhaps it just didn't sound decent. Either way, it's not like they- and many proponents of the folk music scene- are completely accurate when they sing folk songs.

@@oliveromarsson4189 They were already freemen, but they rose in support of a rival player for the throne. There were almost just as many Scots on the Williamite side, and it was Scots who carried out the Highland clearances in the aftermath of the rebellion. @@cigh7445 thanks for the information! I love reading about the Scots. But to my knowledge the Campbell's where the ones siding with the williamites (ofcourse exceptions was made and other Scots joined in aswell) and that's why the black watch regiment carries the Campbell tartan, which in turn also lead to the Campbell curse and why they are so hated by other clans, in some cases even to this day. Apart from the usual use (as in Chairlie, or cheese), 'ch' is used in Scots much like in German, using a gutteral sound, as in Bach, or their former currency drachma. The word 'fecht' means fight. I know it's 2 years since you asked, but since I just came across it, I thought I'd answer without using phonemes for the benefit of other people coming across this who aren't familiar with them. They are also different depending on language, I only know 'ç' as having an 's' sound.
