I lived in Hawaii for over 14 years and can tell you family or "Ohana" is the most important thing to Hawaiians. They are the most generous people I have ever met. I have little doubt the team's expenses will be taken care of by the wonderful people of that state. Congratulations to the kids and the families. They had the support of everyone who has ever lived there.

Back in 2005, Myron Enos quit his job (before he could be fired) just to remain on the mainland to what he then said will be a once in a lifetime experience to witness his son play in the little league World Series. He did it and never got another opportunity since. You do what you have to do. It’ll all work out.

I’ve seen it first hand on expenses! Very expensive! My nephew is a senior at St. Louis this year and plays baseball. He started at 5 or 6 years old.

Hopefully, as the parents realized their respective son’s talent then groomed their sons with the ultimate goal in mind, they made preparations for the costs that comes with their choice. I’m sure lessons learned were shared especially since the coaching staff is all too familiar with what this tremendous feat entails. Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents….

The state government should help fund the teams representing the state.

Little League International already does for the players and coaches. The families choose to spend the rest to go out with their kids. If the state little league wants to help fund it, then that's great. Add a few bucks to each players dues and it will easily be covered. State government should have nothing to do with it.

When I recently traveled to kauai for an event....the plane trip was cheap, the motel I stayed was cheap and GREAT....but what was the factor that put my budget in a bind almost? my rental car....for 2 days, my rental costs me $380!!!!! it sucked BUT the main thing was...I HAD A WONDERFUL time on kauai......I just have to work some OT later on....

Shame that Little League baseball can't help families or at least one relative travel in some way. They are making millions in revenue from commercials and broadcasting, yet you are willing to bankrupt a family for wanting to see their kid play. Side note - what dormitory doesn't have guard rails on bunk beds? Seems like $ > Passion.

Yeah you can go to walamrt and get a cheap bat, glove and cleats to get started in the sport. But after 3 or 4 seasons you dam sure need quality gear if your child wants to actually play at the next level.

Yup and most of the parents are loaded same at the garage where I work they cry but owning 5 cars live on a 35 acre farm paying mortgage of 1,800 month farm assessed and raking it in from the husbands business.Where I live 7 games cost 7,000 weekends between 3,000 and 7,000 the parents have big money.
