This channel needs 5 million subscribers rn but at the same time I'm kind of glad it's a smaller channel because it feels like I know you guys more than some other travel channel. Thanks for the videos, they're super fun to watch! Can't wait for the next one.

Aww thank you for this comment! I too wish we could get a bigger audience going, if only for the possibility of being able to make it a job.... but it's pretty clear that it's a hobby at this point, and I like the feel of the smaller community too. Thanks so much for being a part of it :)

Been a fan for so long and just wanna say thanks for the hard work you put in while actually putting the hard work in to travel! Every video always has a different intro and it's little things like that count and show how much you care. You guys have come such a long way with filming, editing, ect and it's amazing to see how much it has grown! You guys are the best and deserve so many more subs and views. Please fill us in on the missing parts please. Even if it's just a short update! Love you guys!!
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
This comment made our day! So thank you... seriously! It's nice when someone notices the little details haha. And we're always kicking ourselves for not creating a standard intro for all of our videos, but I'm thinking that doing random stuff is probably a better way to go anyway, so things don't get boring. Regarding the missing pieces you mention, we definitely plan on filling in the blanks. The section of our trip between Russia and here was a crazy busy hot mess haha. We definitely have a lot of footage to cut so please stay tuned! Thanks agin for watching for so long. If we had more subscribers like you we could do this as a job!

Because We Camp I know you guys are going to blow up please don't give up you both produce absolute genuine content that is so rare!!! You're channel does amazing things for the people who take the time to get invested. I went to Australia for a month on my own (from Boston) and alot of my inspiration was from you guys!
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Wow you made our day again! I'm glad to hear that you took the plunge on your Australia trip. We've always wanted to go there but always seem to come up with an excuse as to why we can't. How long was the flight from Boston? Anyway, thanks again for the amazing words of encouragement, we appreciate it more than you know! :)
@anandmohammed73756 жыл бұрын
Because We Camp the flight was 13 hours from Boston to Dubai then another 13 from Dubai to Perth WA quite the Long haul! And you guys should deff go again!!! I'm going back next year then flying to Malaysia and then Tokyo! You guys are forever the inspiration!!! Come to Boston!!!
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Aww thank you! And wow that flight sounds like absolute torture haha. If we're ever in Boston, we'll most definitely drop you a line :)

I like Japan fast food. Healthy and fill up and good service. Travel to Japan is not expensive at all as long you know you have choice. I love Japan.
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Yea there are so many good options for food here! And I agree, Japan doesn't have to be prohibitively expensive. Thanks for watching!

Hi Camps! Long time lurker - I've watched every single one of your videos and love watching your latest travels. It seems like you skipped over a lot of interesting travels since Europe though. Are you working on any China or Russia videos? Lynn, glad you are feeling better - enjoy Japan!
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Haha yea we skipped over lots of stuff. Mostly due to the fact that we had basically zero time to edit from the time we entered Russia, until the time we landed in Japan. So there's lots of stuff we still plan on filling in; albeit retroactively. Thanks so much for the well wishes, and for following along this whole time; We really appreciate it! -Lynn + Noah

That Jeopardy counting montage was pretty good. Yeah, healthcare. What a crazy difference.
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Lol thanks for noticing! I spent way too much time on it... then eventually I was like... "fk it! It's good enough" Yea the healthcare is amazing; it's nice not having that constant worry in the back my mind anymore. Japan is great that way; a super culturally interesting super modern Asian country. What more could you want!?
@stevencassidy69826 жыл бұрын
Well, its good that you are settling back and enjoying Japan. Its good that you are being interviewed for jobs. Its time to earn some money. Hopefully you will come back to Europe one day
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steven! Yea hopefully we can start covering our costs here soon, otherwise this stop will be... not cheap. But we have optimism! At the very least, it should be an interesting ride :) And we definitely want to return to Europe... in Spring/summer 😂

7-11 in Japan are the best in the world. 7-11 in the US are second world. 7-11 in Canada are 3rd world. I miss Japan. These next videos are going to be amazing.
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Yea 7-11 totally rocks. Another thing I love about them is just how much pride the employees seem to have in working there. But then again that seems to be the case for people working pretty much any job. I wish we could export that attitude to the west! Thanks so much for watching!

You can’t bet the convi for food, it’s 200% better than the west. If you can find it, try a little cake with a map of Hokkaido on it, it’s a baked cheesecake. Food heaven. Good to see you are on the mend and getting out and about
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And we totally agree! It's crazy actually eating at 7-11 on the regular. I really can't imagine what would happen if we tried a stunt like that in the US... We will keep an eye out for that little cake hehe. The one thing I don't like about treats in Japan though is the apparent rarity of some of them. For example we're still looking for the banana cocoa we had in Hiroshima in 2014. To this day, I think it's still one of the best things I've ever had...

Do you guys not travel with travel health insurance. If you do, what provider do you use?
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Nope, no travel insurance currently. We used World Nomads one year, but didn't renew it when it expired

People told me that the cost of living in Japan is very expensive unless you got a good paid job. However from what you have showed us, it don’t seem that expensive compared to Australia where I was before.
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Well, so far it doesn't seem that different from the US to us. But to be fair, we have spent quite a bit since being here. Mostly due to the setup costs associated with getting here, getting into the city, getting care, buying new clothes, buying a few camera related items etc.. We're hoping that getting some steady work will allow us to at least break even in the near-ish term and hopefully do better than break even in the longish term! It's definitely not a place i want to hang out living off of our savings for too long. Either way, it'll make for some new video content hehe.
@maccabackpacker6 жыл бұрын
Because We Camp great stuff, I’ll keep an eye out for more of your content and share it as much as I can on twitter and Facebook travel page. Take care guys and safe travels x

Hopefully we'll be able to breathe some life into this channel now that we're basing ourselves somewhere cool haha. So thank you so much for helping to make that possible!

That "Only in Japan" comment flew right over you. The girl was referring to another popular KZbin channel & thought you were from it. He's hitchhiked across japan twice & done lots other things in Japan. You should consider doing a collab with John from that channel... Happy to see you guys in Japan... Enjoy it :)
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I'm not sure which comment you're referring to... but we're always looking to collab with people so thanks for the heads up, and thanks so much for watching!
@KeithAndersch6 жыл бұрын
I think blisslife was referring to the staff at Uniqlo when she said "only in Japan." That's probably a coincident in relation to the youtube channel "Only In Japan". Noah looks nothing like John. Anywho, that bag on the head, good idea. I assume it was one time use though. hopefully. lol
@Evoldog6 жыл бұрын
4:22 I do watch "Only in Japan," but if that was a reference to that channel, I totally missed it too since Noal looks nothing like John. But watching that segment again, it did sounded like she was asking a question. Wouldn't it be cool though, because we camp and only in japan?
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Ah thanks for the clarification... there are so many Japan based youtube people that we keep hearing about, it's hard to keep track hehe.
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
We're always looking to collaborate, and now that we're here in Japan we have quite a large pool of people to choose from hehe. Guess it's time to start DMing some people...
@campingcarjoa6 жыл бұрын
I was going to say that's so expensive... but I just remembered you guys are from the States. I'll never understand why they charge so much for health care in the US. Hope you guys are having fun. I'll be in Japan in the fall but I'm sure you guys will be gone by then.
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Yea this same treatment under the same circumstances would have been a couple thousand dollars in the US... Anyway, thanks for the well wishes! We are definitely enjoying it here. We're going to try for residency, which means that we'll need to make a trip to South Korea pretty soon, so maybe we can meet up then. And depending on how the opportunities unfold here, it's entirely possible that we'll be here in fall. Anyway, let's keep in touch! Also, congrats on continuing to kick ass with your channel!

For being uninsured that's not bad at all!
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
For sure... it could have been a lot worse haha
@VegardThefilmmaker6 жыл бұрын
Not bad consider the quality of care in Japan but why are you guys not insured?
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Mostly because, based on our experience, long term travel insurance is a waste. We had it when we first started back in 2013 and never renewed once it lapsed. Outside of getting coverage for ultra catastrophic stuff like getting airlifted out of Everest basecamp or something, it just easier to deal with stuff as it comes up. And most of the time in Asia, things are much more affordable. Obviously other people do it differently, and we're not suggesting that people follow our example, but so far it's worked out pretty well. Hope all is well! I just noticed that you have some new videos that I need to check out!

Well hell that is great news on the medical front.let me get this straight: So you guys were in China and then you had this medical issue pop up, and made the decision to fly to Japan because you felt like you would get better care?
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's what happened, except it wasn't so much a feeling that we would get better care, it was a stone cold fact. The hospital in China was filthy chaos and the language barrier was nearly absolute. We can deal with not understanding people just fine under normal circumstances, but when they want to start drawing blood (not sure why they wanted to) and otherwise sticking needles in you, then we need to be able to have a two way conversation. Looking back now, it was definitely the right decision. We're just lucky that we were so close to Japan and that this all didn't unfold in the middle of Siberia a few days earlier!
@WheretheJones6 жыл бұрын
This is great info. I always try to have those type of plans in the back of my mind and yes in Siberia in the middle of nowhere on a train... would have been a bit more logistically involved.
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Haha yea for sure. Logistics in places like Russia and China are a serious pain in the ass, but they are such interesting places to visit so I guess that's the price we have to pay as travelers
@kenyup54246 жыл бұрын
I just curious how did you communicate with doctors ,you know they don't speak English,they just speak Japanese
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Great question! Actually, my doctors in Japan did speak quite a bit on English. But when traveling around, we use Google Translate offline and that helps a bit
@Moi_816 жыл бұрын
You made me feel better with trying to give a cashier exact change. Pulling out my giant coin sack and counting forever. Wow medical is cheap. In the US that would have been thousands.
@becausewecamp6 жыл бұрын
Haha yea we always feel so stupid trying to count out change... glad we're not the only ones lol. I'm getting to the point where I don't even try, because no matter how much we do, we can never seem to escape the massive pile of heavy coins.. And yea, Lynn had this same thing happen to her when we were living in the US around 12 years ago. Even at that time a trip to the ER and treatment cost a couple thousand dollars, and at the time we didn't have the money to pay for it, so we ended up paying her parents back in installments over several months... Anyway, thanks so much for watching and commenting! -Noah
