In this video, I'm telling you what we charged to remove and replace this garage floor with a brand-new concrete floor.
The original concrete was very cracked and broken. I hired an excavator to jackhammer and remove the old concrete, haul it away, and re-gravel and re-grade the sub-base.
After that, we installed a vapor barrier, rebar mat, and form boards and re-poured the new concrete floor.

Mike, Darn, Luke Thank you for all the wonderful advice on how to do concrete. I just built a 24x40 pole barn a few months ago and last Friday poured the concrete 12 1/2 yards. I know that's not a very big pour for you guys but at 61 yrs. old and doing it by myself I wasn't really sure I could pull it off. The concrete driver thought I was crazy but I followed your steps on getting the truck empty so I could get it screeded and bull floated before the next truck arrived. I was probably over the time by 10min, but the driver didn't mind I think he was more in shock that I was able to do it. I was going to send you some pics but cannot thru you tube. Your videos make it easy for anyone to be able to diy there on project. It all started watching your video one-man concrete slab pour. best wishes The Cigar Man

I need to get this done. I think my detached metal garage is slightly bigger. the cracking didn't bother me for the past 10 years really, but after buying another car and parking it in the garage it has gotten worse. Sucks! Plus i'd want it thick enough for a lift in the future so more cash!

I helped my Dad pour his driveway and patio once and he had a few other people helping so it was interesting. Later in my life I put in a pad for a dog pen and mostly just screed it off and I had my father in law helping and he had never done it before so as long as I got it down pretty level i was good with it. I didn't have any tools that I remember. I had a truck deliver it but if i have to mix it up in bags I never get it mix up the same each time.

A little bit more work when it’s just two guys… nobody to fill in the low spots or pull down the high spots when you’re screeding… but you two are real pros!

Here in Europe we could use those fiber bars only on certain concrete block s placements ,slab on floors like ground works but not for structure ! Anyhow mybe worth to mention that the ground preparation required more dampth then regular iron bars .the distance between fiberbars should be betwee0- 10-. 25 cm maximum m

Honestly thought that number was going to be 1 higher. That's pretty reasonable considering man hours, overhead, and materials. Guess some people forget about the overhead.

The Demo of the old concrete seems very expensive to me, I think if it was my job I would get another quote for that!

So does the $1,500 cost of materials come out of your total price of $4,000? Or do you add the cost of materials on top of your total price of $4,000?

Hey Mike, why not take the concrete out yourself? It's not a very difficult job with the right equipment. One day 5k to take it out make at least $3,500. Then pour the floor make another couple grand...
