The Cotton Pickers -- Mishawaka Blues, Fox Trot (Rose, Short, Straight), Brunswick 1925 (USA)
NOTE: The Cotton Pickers were the Brunswick studio white band, the membership of which was fluid. Brunswick Records used the moniker to put out several sides of smaller band dance music, usually blues and foxtrots "imitating" the sound of the Southern black combos. Initially, the band featured trumpeter Phil Napoleon and saxophonist Bennie Krueger, whose arrangements sounded "black" to Northern audiences, yet after 1924 the Cotton Pickers were a completely different band fronted by Frank Trumbauer with trombonist Miff Mole, whose style was less Dixie and more pop. The Mishawaka Blues side seems to belong to the "Trumbauer era". The Cotton Pickers are often mistaken for McKinney's Cotton Pickers - which is a completely different orchestra.
