In most economics faculties, students are taught the necessity of a Central Bank for a country. Most graduate with the full conviction that it would be impossible for the economy to function without a Central Bank. But the truth is that there are some countries that functioned or function without a Central Bank.
Panama is a country of a little more than 4 million inhabitants, it is characterized worldwide by 4 aspects: its geographical position, its relationship with the United States, the dollarization of its economy and because it is a country that has been without a Central Bank for more than 100 years
