Erin, you are one of the strongest women I have ever had to honor to know "of" even from afar (Im on the East Coast, so very far away) on SO many levels! Your heart is so beautiful. To hear you speak of those who have suffered loss.. wow! What an amazing Neighbor you are! I was listening to you talk about your kiddos, and there was such 'Mommy Pride ' it was heartfelt and touching... then listening to you and Jeff talk and laugh, there was such a precious friendship. It takes a strong heart to be a true friend and maintain that, you both are pretty amazing friends, the kind I pray to meet and have in my little family's lives and watching you empty that bag, thinking about what will be best for the Cows, and I thought WOW! Gilbert must be looking down with such pride, telling everyone in Heaven, hey, come here and Look, thats MY girl! Look at her rockin' it and carrying on my legacy, working the ranch like a boss, adding to it and growing it bigger and better and shes including and encouraging my grandkids to be a part planting the seeds of their hearts in something that I dedicated my life to, that they may carry on another generation of a beautiful tradition.. thats MY girl!!! Aint she beautiful!!!!! As beautiful of a legacy as Gilbert, your Mom and the Ranch itself has, YOU are adding quite a Legacy yourself that is absolutely AMAZING!!! WELL DONE ERIN!! I may not know you personally, but Ive watched several years and can I please just tell you, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!! Youre a TRUE inspiration to so many, especially ME! Keeping you, the kiddos, Jeff, the ranch, the animals and ALL the Ranches, their owners, workers and animals and livelihoods around you in my thoughts and prayers!! Extra prayers dor those who have lost it all, May God Himself help them rebuild and give them a double portion of it all. (The weather everywhere seems to have gone crazy. Prayers for safety AND Blessings for all.

Praying for rain for the ranchers in your area ,Erin. Your cows sure are looking good. Just a suggestion, put your fly bags low enough so that they can butt them around with their heads so the powder can disperse. Also ... please always carry a knife. You never know when you might need one. I feel naked without my knife and pliers. Maybe a leatherman tool ?
@larryparish59842 ай бұрын
Erin, maybe it's because they are spending a lot of time where they 💩. People that are rotational grazing don't seem to be having that problem as much. Might be an option to consider, at least on a trial basis. A little more labor intensive but at least you're not dumping chemicals on your cattle & paying for those chemicals. The rotational grazing has been proven to enrich soil conditions where implemented. You won't have much time this year for a comprehensive test because of the snow coming soon to your area but this would be a good time to research & prepare for spring if you decide to implement this practice. Good luck & have a great day 😊.

Let me provide some recommendations on the insects. Set up biologics on the farm if you can. Aka the mantid family or dragonflies & some parasitic wasps. Station them out along fences, barn edges, feeding lots. use diatomaceous earth powder around edges of buildings & corners inside & out. This is a form of algae (non toxic) & it dehydrates & cuts into insect skeletons. Definitely go with some type of ribbon or band that has citrus or citronella in it. Plant plants like lavender, oregano, basil, eucalyptous in spots as the scent is too strong for insects.

Hello Erin and Jeff. Y’all need to try the Tube Type of Skunk Trap that Amazon has to sell. The Animal Control Officer here in Seymour. Texas uses a similar model and has had very good luck with avoiding being sprayed because they can’t raise their tail up in the air to spray. Seems to cost from $90-$120 approximately.

Were the shirts planned between you and Jeff? I thought it was cool. When I have had a skunk smell in our house we have boiled apple cider vinegar and it takes the skunk smell away or at least most of it. My only problem is that I am allergic to the fumes of apple cider vinegar when boiled although I can take apple cider vinegar gummies and partake of it in food. So strange I know.

This brought back a memory of helping my Uncle install just one bag in a isle leading to the barn where they were fed. I think it was around 1970 era. It had to dust them within a few days because the barn was only a couple hundred feet from the Pacific Ocean. The humidity caked up the dust. So we brought it in every night into the house and took it back out at daybreak on the days that there wasnt fog. It did work well. Forgive me.....I know a place where the skunk could have been released 🤡 😂

Good evening, young lady, I do understand your fear. I live up above Fort Collins in Northern Colorado, the Alexander Mountain Fire, a few weeks back, had me jumping around with my head cut off. It is contained. Is the Bone Pile Creek fire out? The fire page that I watch shows that this fire is active with 0% containment. Fantastic video, stay safe

For flies have you ever heard of Spalding Fly Predators? They are tiny insects That attack at the source, laying there eggs in the fly larvae. Then the Fly Predator larvae eats the Fly larvae in turn killing the flies before they hatch, which eliminate flies.
