Pretty sad to see singaporean delusional idea of luxury where their expensive leasehold flat is a flex to Malaysian. Now the island governor even ban cats. LMAO
@yummychips_
@yummychips_ Жыл бұрын
idk about everything else, but Cat banning should be something every major city in the world should be doing. Cats should be registered, and owners should have a cat raising license. Too many people don't realize how invasive and destructive cats are. Most cat owners are terrible cat owners. Simpy letting your cat wander, especially not neuter, outdoors is one of the dumbest things you can do as a cat owner. @@Judaism_Terror
@Judaism_Terror

@@yummychips_ As a landed house owner, no problem for cats. However in Putrajaya, Malaysia, I've seen many cats linger around in apartment, of 13 storey to 21. No problem whatsoever, they literally going into mosque, into lift, and poo on the sand or land. It's a collective effort to teach the urban cat, now Singaporean selfish owner can enjoy the ban. lol

Just to be clear. This is not a hatchery. The crabs don't mate. He buys crabs and fattens them up. This doesn't solve the food security issue nor does it claim to. Crab condos can't be scaled up to meet demand. It's a fun hobby.
@deadseriouslymoving
@deadseriouslymoving Жыл бұрын
I mean, this with a local hatchery sounds like it could help food security issues. Most people with small vegetable gardens don't make their own seeds. They buy them from the store. A lot of cattle people only buy young cows and fatten them up.

I applaud CNA for highlighting many Singapore grown foods over the years. (Yeah, I'm paying attention) Food security is probably Singapore's Number 1 issue. A country needs Land, Water and Food to survive. Singapore has the first 2 (somewhat). When food crisis happens and other countries scramble to secure their own food supply for their own citizens, then Singaporeans would experience the short end of xenophobia. Be kind to others (foreigners) when you're strong. Cause when 💩 hits the fan, you'll be begging them for food......or causing massive jam in Tuas/Causeway.

Brilliant man…he memorized the yabbie plan and accommodated it for crabs years later. And it’s a totally enclosed system with the exterior pond and a UV sterilizing system. This is the animal version of ‘vertical farming.’ Great marketing….i like how he compares a crab with a fish. The only issue is anthropomorphizing the crab and saying it’s ‘happy’ when the algae grows back and blocks out the sunlight. Crabs don’t get happy. Crabs are crabs.

First of all, hatchery is where the berried crabs hatch. From Zoea 1,2,3,4,5 and becomes megalopa and moult into instar which resembles a crab. Further moulting into instar2,3 and we sold to farmers whom do the growout in ponds. Crab condo mainly for fattening or soft shell crab production. Water were recycle to keep the ammonia, nitrite down. Cleaning of uneaten feed needs to be done daily to prevent bacterial bulidup esp gram negative. Btw, I have a crab hatchery and growout pond and supply crablets to farmers too. General, read up the lifecycle of crab.

Cool hobby. But if its for food, is it cheaper to do this taking into account the total costs (electricity, the boxes, water bill?, cleaning equipment and lab chemiclas for the various water quality checks etc versus going to East coast park or wherever and just buying a crab for your chilli?

European here. Maybe it´s a little bit of weird question but do Mudcrabs need warm water? I´m asking because I´m not seeing any heating system and I´m not shure if its because they don´t need ir or because the climae in Singapore is simply warmer than here.

I think crabs have no need for chilled water in order to live properly, and It's generally tropical(humid) over here so we seldom need to actually regulate the water temperature unless we're rearing life from the ocean as a hobby. However, I'm no expert so perhaps we can wait for crab expert advice.

we live on the equator with only 1 season(summer) as long as the water you use is room temperature, it is usually fine they can survive from 20-32°C but they grow slower at lower temperatures if you are growing it as a pet, 24-28°C is probably ideal but if you are growing to eat it, 28-32°C probably wield larger crabs source: science direct S1687428519300809
