The Cradle of Friendship
The cradle of friendship
Is too delicate for words
For, friends find wings
And fly away like birds,
That cradle then lost
And, nothing else can fill it
Emptiness, then, resides within
And, dark the heart that was lit
Tenuous, is the clasping hand
And fragile, the lines on its palm,
Never take anything for granted, friends
Restraint is the only balm.
So, care and compassion
And, an understanding deep
Are all that will sustain
And, the bonds of friendship keep,
Befriend yourself, as only you can
So, your’e never without a friend,
No one knows what’s around the corner
Nor where the river’s mighty bend.
