I thought that at first, but her perspective as an "ctiy girl outsider" puts a unique twist to this reporting of the festival. It's rewarding to finally see one form of her self peek through at the end. She did not give a negative comment whatsoever about the festival or the people. The negativity was always towards herself and her comfort (or lack thereof). As much as I really enjoyed this video, I feel like she brought a completely unnecessary attitude/energy to the festival. I understand that spirituality is not for everyone but if it is her job to document something that is new to her, she should at least keep an open mind and try to enjoy the experience. Everyone there seemed extremely kind, loving and full of positivity and light. We only have one life to live and being able to journey and have wonderful experiences as part of your job is a blessing!

Nothing spiritual about this lame display. These people are so lost. You don’t need to go to the jungle in Costa Rica, stay up all night with fire dancers and LED hula hoopers, and take drugs to make excessively long hugs with strangers. This kind of thing is for lost souls. The answers are all within you. You need only search within yourself. Everything else is a magicians trick.
@CosmicFishy6 жыл бұрын
Shania Dineley Perhaps you’re right. I used to live in the jungle in Costa Rica and perhaps just had a lot of experience seeing so many “soul searching” hippies cross my path who overexperimented with drugs and just didn’t seem firmly rooted in reality or grounded within themselves. It can be unsettling to be around. Love and let live, but these are my opinions :)

@tremblence6 жыл бұрын
Well said, terrible title and she basically gave the public what they wanted to see I guess. I've been to Envision 4 years now starting in 2012 when it was very small, not as Yuppy and Corporate as it is today. Not to be negative but it started out way more grassroots, hippis and free-minded individuals coming together in a beautiful place to explore community, friendship, art, sustainability and general oneness with eachother and Earth. People were more focused on providing fruit to eachother in the tropical heat than trying to turn a dollar. Inevitably festivals grow and people find out they can turn a pretty penny by expanding it and having more artists, more vendors, higher prices, luxury VIP options etc and you end up with a bit of a watered down experience due to all the People showing up for the hype- to party or take selfies and or have that experience. There are still amazing people that come and I still love this festival- bass, palm trees, surfing and Costa Rican culture. Now, I just hope people support the locals by staying at their hostels and buying their food, and yeah the video was garbage no offense way too much focus on being "that" video with sarcastic comments and too shallow to really get at the beautiful chaos & chemistry that magically happens at conscious gatherings like this.
@hollywilliams25096 жыл бұрын
I thought she was brilliant! She has a dry sense of humour which is very British. I wonder if Louis Theroux would get the same unkind reception if he did this. She was open to new experience and tried everything to the best of her ability. I liked the juxtaposition between her reporting style and festival goers. Just because you perceive someone to be less 'spiritually enlightened' because they don't act the same as you doesn't mean that's the case. Maybe she's a devout Buddhist and meditates every day! I find it strange how so many 'spiritually woke' people on here are super judgemental.
@arthursevergnini85336 жыл бұрын
Kelly Rose I think it was interesting. Because it explicitly shows the contrast of the western mindset to the spiritual soul. It was awkward because it is awkward for someone who has no knowledge to this kind of lifestyle. Almost all significant literature, all classical music, almost all significant paintings, all modern philosophy, democracy, science, inventions.... was by Caucasians. The trouble is not skin colour. The trouble is that western civilisation has been successfully infested with socialism which has led to a total loss of values. No one is ashamed of shameless behaviour. We have no morals. Drugs are everywhere and used in all layers of society. The institution of family has nearly disappeared and been replaced by promiscuous lifestyles. The governments have taken people’s freedom away and now pays for stupid people to multiply with multiple partners. Just like children seek boundaries, immature minds go to extremes in search of boundaries.

the man in the joker outfit is spot on. You can't just put on clothes and think that your going to understand better for your report. You gotta humble yourself in order to grow. And if you cant let go of your status and everything you bring from the society you came from, your not making the most out of your time there. Your not better than anyone else there. Its up to you to grow. And im from the hood, i ain't been there or anywhere like it but I bet you if the whole world did this once a year, allot of the issues we all face as a global community, many of them wouldn't exist. Just humble yourself and open your self up to God and use your head to envision what you think is best for yourself which should benefit our global community. We are all in this together, We are all one family, like it or not, its up to all of us to change for the better and do our part to support our global family which includes all life on this planet. We are the cause of the illness on this planet. And like it or not there is no other place outside of Earth that we can move to. God bless you.

not to me... they are a living proof that others (different mentality) are able to open up... bit at a time. we are not all made of the same mold we all think differently. and that's beautiful... I'd be appauled if everyone on the planet was a flailing yuppy.

We see the humor and sarcasm. But we also see a host that has little to no knowledge on what being spiritually awakened is. Wich she clearly isnt. She isnt even well in large social settings . Shes ignorant to it all and allowed her bitterness and awkwardness to show on her face in a rude manner. Not the correct person to have. Painful to watch her interact with others.

Aja Fields Indeed, certainly not journalism.

Spiritually awakened is up to the individual not cult thinking of zombie hipsters/hippies. Your beautiful by the way..

I also see that you delusional, same as those idiots there, but I hope you will just follow this trend for year or two and after a while you will realize there is noting spiritual in fake hugs, in story without any real message, yoga, vagina egg... Sounds crazy, but even moron Trump sounds bigger philosophic then your friends. You can not awake by spending 4 days at Costa Rica beach, brainwashed from morons and after that you spend rest of your life in front PC or IPhone. Actually, do you really know what means "spiritually awakened"? Ok, I know that you will say that I m rude, ignorant and other bla, bla, bla... like you guys always do. It is only what you can say, but you are not capable to answer on simple question without pile of quotes, phrases or accusation being racist, sexist, trumpist, nazi... Before few years ago I visit festival like this and I argue with people just because I had different opinion and they could not accept it or explain to me what they want. Also, I ask them why they are so weak, fragile, unsecure and most important, why they are so fake and try to be accepted from group. Again, i get pile of rubbish. Have nice life!

And I agree with you, the "journalist" is stupid idiot without any sense or knowledge about nothing

@@srbijapeacock2431 actually, youre just angry, im assuming because you have to spend time in a way that you dont like, perhaps behind a computer or you doubt yourself so much you need to be aggressive forwards the "not-woke"? Why the negativity? Everybody travels on their own speed.

I like how she warms up to the festival and its ideas. I think if she went a second time, she would have a blast.

horrible vibes off his girl ...vice has been slacking with their interviewers good content tho .

She was at the festival documenting it, but still missed the whole festival :D She was so afraid and tense it was kind of hard to look at her pretending to embrace it. Vice, you can do better then that.

i think that was the point if you know her work thats how all her videos are made. They are made to poke humor at these ideas if you watch mystery girl or chicken shop you would know. The point is an outsider that isn't spirtial or a hippie goes as she was invited by them.

I think Vice made a good point point here. Society has made us so afraid of how we appear in front of one and other that the only acceptable way to "be yourself" is to get drunk off your nut. This girl was the right journalist for the job. Nothing unusual about her in western society. We are a mess.
