What if you have brick walls and can't pull more wires? I feel like this isn't made for the european market
@BeardedTechGuy5 жыл бұрын
Pretty neat idea! I may consider this for my kitchen hub max. I am curious what impact this would have on sound installed in a real wall though. Even with the show the sound profile is going to be changed because of the positioning of the wall as well as being inside the cavity of the wall.
@TechWithBrett5 жыл бұрын
So far they sounded just fine. If there is enough interest maybe we will see one for the the Nest Hub Max.
@sbradshaw18865 жыл бұрын
Yes very bad idea and the max would be a waste of $$$. The subwoofer is on the back

Instead of using the Ethernet cable will the WiFi still work once installed in the wall? Thanks!
@joshualhopkins4 жыл бұрын
Only using ethernet for power.
@dylankaine98493 жыл бұрын
You could easily and much cheaper just install a receptacle or a junction box in your attic and pull the wires up there. Not necessary to buy the extra Ethernet junk and cut more unnecessary holes in your walls
@garyjeffersii67354 жыл бұрын
For the Nest mount, I had a difficult time determining what exactly it was sitting on/against. It looked like it would make contact with those metal clips which could potentially tear the fabric around the speaker. That accurate?

If you have extra tablets could you do basically the same thing with them & just leave them plugged in & mount them around the house? Are there any Extras that the Google Home Hub or Echo Show will do that a Tablet would not? I have 2 extra tablets, and I havent gotten to play with the Google Hub or Echo Show yet, so thats why I am wondering. I already have a SmartThings Hub, so no benefit there

On the Echo Show 5 it doesn't change as the speakers are not covered. The Nest Hub is very similar but sounded a tiny bit muffled.

The only way this could be better is if it swivels out to turn at an angle. I really want a base that could even be table top which allows the screen to come more perpendicular with the ground and allow easy swiveling

How big is the hole to cut out for the nest hub?
@alec46724 жыл бұрын
The way they power this is really stupid, it would make sense to power it over poe if the device had a network jack on it but both of them use wifi. Your better off cutting a 15 1/2" x 12 inch hole in the wall so you can frame in a niche with an outlet in the back (look up "wall niche outlet" on google images) then you can just mount the Nest in a board slightly larger then the niche and use it to cover the opening. This way also when the new nest comes out you only modify that small board for the new mount instead of cutting up the whole wall again.
@paulholstein94483 жыл бұрын
I would never consider making a permanent hole in my walls for a device that is guaranteed to be obsolete in less than 5 years when newer models come out.

Those look nice and clean, but technology, especially Google (and Apple), is too mercurial to justify putting a hole in my wall. Next year they could decide you don't even need a hub for all this connected home stuff. Pretty sure you don't now. It's just a bridge too far in our rapid-update lives. I still use an iPod in my car.
