NEVER to be forgotten, Howie Morris as UNCLE GOOFY! Omg crazy wild skit spoofing THIS IS YOUR LIFE!. I remember seeing that as a kid when first aired, and my face hurt afterwards from laughing so hard!

That’s a wonderful video and a honor to the great Howard Morris. . “How do you do Mrs. Wiley “? was just a fraction of his characters. Those interested in Howard Morris, Sid Cesar, Imogene Coco, Carl Reiner, look up some the episodes of The Show of Shows. Thanks Bob, and a nice memorial weekend for everyone. 🙋♂️🙏

Weird how Howie Morris seems more remembered now for the silly role he played on the Andy Griffith show, while his truly great work (as a performer) was on full display as one of the 3 comedic greats ---the other two being Carl Reiner an the legendary Sid Caesar ------on, first, YOUR SHOW OF SHOWS and a little later, DAESAR'S HOUR. Howie Morris was among the comedy greats and certainly matched Caesar and Reiner in every way. Too bad that there never developed other shows later that allowed Morris to shine as much as he did on those Sid Caesar projects. Thank goodness, at least, that most of that early work IS preserved for posterity, even though most of his greatest work was performed live on air.

Arguably he had just as a long career as a voice actor as well. Like his roles on The Flintstones The Jetsons the Archie franchise Garfield and Friends Cow and Chicken Peter Potomus Show Magilla Gorilla Show Atom Ant Secert Squirrel Show and more.

I first saw This Is Your Story on Nickelodeon's Turkey Television. The sketch was part of Ten from Your Shows of Shows, often shown on PBS stations. Back in the late 80s and early 90s there was a wonderful magazine called Memories. I still have those copies. One issue had an article about Your Show of Shows. It mentioned that Sid Caesar wanted someone he could pick up. No wonder he wanted Howard Morris. Interestingly, in the sidebar article, Morris declined to give his age. The book Mayberry 101 included Mountain Wedding, Howard's first episode as Ernest T. Bass. Someone mentioned that Howard didn't like guns. Yet as the character he had to act as someone very familiar with them. Morris actually directed more TAGS episodes than he appeared in as Ernest T. Bass. In one he had a cameo as a TV repairman.

Hi Bob, thank you for all your very interesting videos. Really appreciate you taking the time to present them. After watching the first few episodes of the show for the umpteenth time last night, I confirmed what I had seen before, Aunt Bea wears a wedding band on her left hand. Any ideas why she did since she was never married either in real life or on the show? Just curious. Thank you.

Just about the only character I didn't like...sort of make the episodes he was in very childish. Not saying I don't like him as a person, the man served in the military, just don't like Ernest T Bass.

I could not agree with you. Although appearing in only five episodes on the Andy Griffith Show, the Ernest T. Bass character is so beloved and memorable, he is a fixture in the history of the series.
