Jimmy Clausen's cup of coffee stint with the Panthers will be something that will always puzzle me. A team risked so much to draft him, and he instantly became a basket case with his actions. Amazing.

I mean he did have the talent to be a starting QB but the problem was his personality and mindset. He was basically the 2010 version of Jeff George and/or Ryan Leaf. Extremely talented but a lot of red flags off the field and how he prepares for each game.

I said it in your 1st video about Clausen and I'll say it again: Matt Moore was a more deserving starter than him. At worst, he would've been at around the same level as Derek Anderson, his predecessor at Oregon State, not significantly worse.

Had the Panthers kept Moore as the starter for the rest of the season, they would have missed out on Cam Newton. He certainly would have won a few games. There was a silver lining about that 2010 season. Moore became the first UDFA to win his first NFL start in 40 years when the Panthers beat the 49ers 23-20 in Charlotte.

Why does this brief and disastrous Jimmy Clausen era in Carolina remind me of the Josh Rosen era in Arizona? What's crazy is that they both got the first pick in the draft the following year, selecting mobile quarterbacks who wear number 1. Cam Newton and Kyler Murray. The Rosen era in Arizona was an absolute disaster like the Jimmy Clausen era in Carolina. The only piece missing to this coincidence is that Clausen wore number 2 unlike Rosen who wore 3. Wouldn't that be crazy?

For further context, the 25,000 fans that went to this game is the same number that Charlotte FC of MLS (who play in the same stadium) averaged this past season which is in the top 5 of MLS attendance.

It's funny because if Clausen was drafted today, he'd have a much better chance at succeeding, or at the very least, being a middle of the road starter. Well... a chance at being ranked somewhere between the 22nd - to - 17th Quarterback, if things worked out. I mean, he most likely still turns out to be the Jimmy Clausen we all know & were made slightly bemused by, but the NFL game, over the bakers dozen-or-so number of years that have come and gone since he was drafted, has absolutely, one hundred percent moved towards a style of play that is more "Clausen friendly".

I remember when Clausen got recruited for ND. He was claiming four national titles while he was there. 😂 Highly recruited and ranked. Rich kid out of cali with family ties to other colleges. He only stayed for 3, leaving with golden Tate and Charlie Weiss...thinking he was NFL ready. Going at best 6-6 two yrs ..and one yr went 3-9. I believe. The talent on that team was ridiculous too. He had the means to be great there, but couldn't get it done. Maybe if he stayed his final yr thinking he was good enough

Bro , “IF” there is any truth to your video then it’s on the Panthers coaching staff and organization for not having anything better then a historically unprepared rookie QB to put out their for more then half of your season ! With Their record being 1-11 at the time of the Falcons game it seems like they probably started Jake Delhomme for the first half of the season and when they was 1-6 they benched Jake (Who is Steve Smith’s guy) and handed the future to Jimmy and the veterans especially Steve Smith seen it as throwing away the season so he was mad and probably didn’t support Jimmy like he should’ve

In Clausen's defense, in a lot of these highlights that I'm seeing in this video, a fair number of his botched plays were, or at least appear to be, the result of poor or abysmal pocket protection by his O-line.

I saw a TikTok the other day were Cam. Newton said Jimmy Clawson one of the million dollars for number two and then he said I talk to my people I’ll take $750,000. Situation is like that upper management should intervene and say you don’t have any say the superstars getting the number no questions asked. If I was a superstar in the NFL and I got traded to a team and some second string or third string I had a number that I wore my whole life. I would tell him you’re giving it up or I would tell the front office he’s giving it up or I’m going elsewhere sounds silly, but those numbers are very superstitious and powerful to people. Jimmy Clausen is a douche and will always be remembered as one.
