Just discovered your channel and started with episode 54 - great content! I've had the sailing bug for 20 years. No experience, no boat, no guts. I'm considering manning up, seeking instruction at a sailing school in Merritt Island, and possibly buying a sailboat. I would LOVE to be able to go to the Bahamas for a weekend here and there after gaining some experience. Just subbed to your channel. People like you inspire people like me. Thanks!

Hey thanks so much for the feedback. It’s really appreciated. I’m not sure it’s guts on our part. We were just fed up with land life and rat race stuff enough that we had to leave. I can honestly say I’ll never want to own a house much less love a normal life ever again. Glad to have you along for the ride. Good luck on your adventures.

Boating on the ICW in south Florida on a weekend can be some of the scariest episodes in an entire boating career! The very definition of credit card captains!

Very informative, and a great glimpse into the ICW. Thank you, keep the videos coming.

Powerboats in the ICW are the worst! We hopped offshore as much as we could in Florida to avoid the bridges and boaters.

I have a 14 ft sailboat, and sometimes you feel invisible. What ever happened to sailboats having the right of way? Great video.
@LadyKSailing5 жыл бұрын
Yup don’t we know it. Not sure but there really is not much room for sailboats in south Florida
@lawrencestark19445 жыл бұрын
Great video. Ive never have liked doing the ICW over there. On the weekends i would rather sail out on the Atlantic. That was last weekend now can you imagine what its like on Memorial weekend this weekend its worse. Oh and as far as bikini contest are birthday suits contests lol. Be safe you need to keep heading north tho its fixin to start hurricane season and you dont need to be at the lower part of florida. Hell i live on my boat in the lower part of Louisiana and its bad here to but i may have to head towards mexico if one comes this way , cant take the Mississippi's river its badly flooded .but listen next november or december yall will see me at the islands. Be safe you 2 happy sails

Basically I'm getting two things from this, 1. When on the ICW during the day, (Get used to ALOT of consistent wake)...or travel at Night, 2. Don't be the reason people would rather travel at night ...on the ICW. :)

Hey guys, just wondering, if your in St-Augutine at the moment, are you going back up north? Do you need haul out? Are you planning on doing some DIY yard work, like sanding and repainting you bottom etc, as my wife and I are in one if not the best marinas at the very lowest price. Maybe we could barter some work as we need some cushions done, loll.

Hahaha I laughed a lot with this episode! I am docked at Titusville. Come checkout the west indian manatee at the marina. This is more quiet and nice around here. You can sail in this part of the ICW right across the landing pad from NASA. There is a heavy rocket launch coming soon. It is really amazing to watch them from here. My best wishes to you!

Hey thanks for the comment. We will be in Melbourne today and near you tomorrow I think.

Thank you for your videos! I really enjoy watching and learning from what you do. Tomorrow I will be sailing for the first time ever my boat. If you see a boat with a racing sail (25) across NASA, that will be me. I really enjoy your videos! Stoked you guys are passing by!

Hey hope you had a good sail! Headed for titusville today. Anything we should stop and do when we get there? It's just 35 miles away so we will be there with daylight to spare. Wait sorry it's today you're sailing?? What's the boat name? Keep VHF 16 on and we will hail you

I watch a lot of different sailing channels and a common theme seems to be manually pulling up the anchor👍
@johnpeek30605 жыл бұрын
I do the same , back down to set the anchor then when ready to go motor forward and hand wench the anchor free from the bottom using jib hand crank wench pull up the anchor by hand. This works well in shallow water 12 ft or under saves the electric wench from a lot of wear and tear, they are not cheap to replace or rebuild . Can use the electric on deep anchorages where you would be exhausted from pulling 5 or 6 fathoms of anchor chain up

A boat makes less wake when it is on plane than it does when it is wallowing just below plane. I was a power boater, and I saw what my wake was doing. I was courteous to all other boaters. Honest. I had been tossed around by many larger boats (and once almost foundered, thanks to a good bilge pump I didn't), and learned my lesson. Captains of large power boats are arrogant and uncaring.
