Thanks for another thoughtful and enthusiastic review. A lot of your observations here echo my own feelings about his first feature length movie Monsters (2010), which is still in my top 10 favourites. I'm surprised you didn't mention it here. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it!

Gareth Edwards has always impressed me with his eye, but the scripts he works with always let him down imo. I wish I loved Godzilla '14 and Rogue One (RO not being all his fault to be clear), but I don't. I've been hoping his powerful eye could meet a great script and from what I've been hearing it seems to have happened with The Creator.

The fact that Rogue One is as good as it is, after the hellacious reshoots, is a miracle.
