Colin reminds me of me in group conversation settings. Samir is doing the vast majority of the talking, and it doesn't look like Colin is mad about that. Colin and Samir seem to be very much on the same page and Samir seems to be the more naturally talkative guy, and he's probably saying a lot of what Colin would say. When Colin does have something important or specific to say he chimes in and then he lays back and lets Samir lead again and Samir seems to be good at either sensing when Colin is going to jump in, or cutting himself off soon as he hears Colin to let him get that word in. It's like the ideal Introvert/Extrovert partnership.

I definitely agree on the 'edu-tainment' feedback. I'm a teacher, have shown your Tesla bot, satellite internet, and other videos to the students. Marques mentioned wondering who cares about his opinion, one side of it is also making us think, not just hearing your opinion. Those two videos made the kids think a lot

This was a great conversation! I recently started watching to Colin and Samir and love their insight. I will say one thing I really like and respect about Marques is his ability to have clear boundaries between his "offline" life and internet life. So many creators feel the need to integrate every aspect of their lives into their brand, and I think he's shown that there can be a clear separation. I like that the only thing we really know about him is that he play ultimate frisbee lol. Keep doing what you're doing. Love the videos.

42:06 I went to film school where every class was “show, don’t tell” and then I started working as an editor for a channel with +5M subs, and I learned that digital content is the opposite to film - it’s incredible how people want you to tell them almost word by word what they are seeing 🤷🏻♀️

1:08:30 - I think Marques outlines a very valid thing that is crucial for balance. Especially if you're a full-time creator that infuses different parts of your life into your videos online. The ability to unplug and just be one with yourself is especially important as a person for centering oneself. I think that if fitness and sports is good for your "offline time" then those elements should be protected. If you do have to include fitness into your digital creation then I hope Marques finds a new way to unplug FRFR

14:07 from what I have noticed, it is really effective to do so a few weeks / months down the line (depending of course on how long the video is relevant / in date for). I think it might just be a form of re-engaging the audience by grabbing their attention, reminding them that they both watched the video and liked the video. This is what makes the viewers willing to watch it again - they are more than happy to re-live the experience of the video to re-enjoy the parts that they remember they enjoyed but cannot remember off the top of their head. this is just my personal speculation but: when someone watches a video, they are left behind with 2 things: the final message of the video and if they enjoyed that video or not. if they enjoyed that video and then see that the same video has a new, fresh title / thumbnail, they will be able to make the link between an old video and a new video. assuming they enjoyed the video previously, they would be willing to re-experience that video and watch it again.

@Colin and Samir, I love the way you look at things! I watch yours and @Marques Brownlee videos. I am not tekkie nor a creator. So I don't understand a lot of what you are saying without a flash of a video clip or picture when you mention names/places/items. This is an older video but KZbin just turns your guys on as it goes from video to video as I nap and I wake up seeing some of my most watched channels. This happened today to me and I got to see this one. I don't intentionally search out Marques as much as C & S, but I enjoy learning about EV (I can't tell them apart even when they show me, I'm 66 so things roll over my head sometimes) and although I'm not wealthy enough to upgrade my Samsung S9 which is all I need, it's interesting for me to hear about iphones and products which other people have. Colin & Samir brings great story and context to every conversation or video they are involved in. I WATCHED THIS ONE TWICE! :) Keep up the good work!

1:05:31 - a good example is the recent video from corridor digital and their review of the Ronin 4D. It was a very interesting review that was also an interesting follow-up to their first video on how to make the best camera for what they wanted. Yes, their core audience grew-up with them from FreddieW and that OG format. As they have evolved they too have evolved and their corridor Crew channel and also Node featured the tech that they loved and also used but also some of their personal interests that they thought their audience may also enjoy because they thought they shared some of the same interests. Part of that experimentation lead to them to VFX/Stunt Person/Industry Person react. The people that came to know through Bosstown Robotics came along with their continued evolution of having been on the platform for so long. Having gone through the early days of working in the industry, FreddieW, VGHS, different indie movies, adpocalypse, and still managed to weather all the different viewerships that have also grown up. I'd be interested to see what you all would say to some of the other OG KZbinrs....

Wow, I so much love the idea Colin shared about creating videos that are adjacent to tech related content. Just thinking about seeing a video about Maques talking about the tech in a different niche is already getting me so interested. The internet is full of noise and lots of information but if I can get MKBHD perspective on those things, would be really helpful. There are lots of opportunities I believe Maques could explore, I feel like Maques is holding back on a lot of ideas and valuable content that we would enjoy but I am certain that if he gets spontenous and plays around with lots of his awesome ideas with his cool resources at his disposal, it's definitely gonna bang! That I am sure of. The way we consume content changes these days and its always exciting when we see our favourite creators explore something different. I LOVE IT!!

6:30 I feel like mrwhosetheboss does this with his tech fails and some of his other products. I mean, it is interesting if you don't already know much about the product / company but is it ok to sacrifice the true reality of a product in the name of keeping the video interesting? I really felt this when MWTB spoke about the nothing ear 1s like they were golden, or when he spoke about AMD bulldozer architecture being a huge damage to the company. He only slightly mentions the fact that AMD are better now, but even this its still kind of an understatement

Samir made a great point about using The Studio to experiment with shorts. The Studio channel lends itself well to shorts and maybe even occasional live streaming i think. Posting a couple shorts on The Studio of you guys hanging out watching the M1 Pro/M1 Max reveal event for example. Shorts of you guys filming intros. Little quick stuff like that doesn't always have to wait for "this weeks episode of The Studio" (though it should still be in there too).

Since there is so much talk about feedback and content, I'll just say that I would love to see 1. products go head to head more often (best smart watch, earbuds, etc. Maybe have a tier list at the end of every review of them to keep the audience predicting where it will land) 2. More software reviews. Best podcast app, spotify vs apple music, editing software, etc. I think they might get traction due to the free software mainly being accessible to everyone, so knowing which to pick from the bunch can be great

1:04:19 on the contrary Marques, I've been watching you for at least 5 years now and I used to remember feening for the next MKBHD video when you were in college still and the release schedule was more sparse. I feel like I remember being stoked after you made a video saying you were done with school and were going to start pumping out more content. At this point I watch the entirety of every video you make on every channel. I've been a nurse for 10 years but a little part of me wishes I had started doing tech videos a long time ago and I could have made a career out of it. Every coworker (not just the elderly) comes to me for advice on the new headphones they want, or which version of the iPhone to get or whatever. I say this just to say the new Studio channel let's me imagine I'm at that conference table when you guys watch the Google event or iPhone event and getting react in real time with your actual, actual first impressions. Poking fun at the presenters. That kind of thing. I would watch almost anything you guys made at this point. I'm not saying it would all be interesting to me, but you have a PRETTY wide berth. It would take a lot for me to not watch it, lol. I imagine I'm not the only one. I'd watch videos by Andrew too. :)

A good point that Samir did! A good example of this is when Casey Neistat will show a new gear. Obviously he is not a tech reviewer and he do this in his own way but he always tell a story in the videos and, in the middle of the story, he introduces the review of the equipment. I think it's a metter of "What kind of audience do you want to cultivate". The audience that skip the video because they are not interested in you at all, just in the gear that you show. Or the audience who is gonna watch you because you are you. I remember to watch your video about your studio, presenting all the tables, the dog, the space, the loud sound, and you tell a lot of stories in the meantime and I loved it. And it happens in a time where I was trying to watch a lot of videos about tech, filmmaking and etc and I always get distracted, bored and lost interest on everything. But your video catch my atention just because you was been a human, a person, who run a business, who have friendships, and who have a lot of stories about just a simple room where you store the batteries. Colin and Samir said in the video about Emma Chamberlain about "Relantionship based creators vs Idea based creators" and I really believe that you are a Relantioship creator. Who is watching you, watches because likes your personality and what you are doing since youtube is youtube. So, if you want to tell stories, tell the fucking stories and the peoples who gona skip your videos and complain about it is not your public, your really true fans. Cheers.

In terms of KZbin shorts, it'd be great to have a separate tab on a channel for shorts so it doesn't mess with or mix with main content, a clear devide would encourage more creators to male shorts
