Not sure if it’s Marques being out sick, but I found myself skipping around this episode a lot more than I ever do. Too many long, niche, tangents on audio that I don’t care about. Also surprised at Andrews Apple apologetics being the never iPhone guy. Don’t defend Apples ahole money-grubbing decisions. All those choices are motivated by greed.

Retro tech is retro for a reason. I understand if you're trying to restore things like antique watches or furniture or almost anything physical, because it usually has cultural and historical value and importance, not to mention these things are timeless. Technology, or should I say, digital technology in particular, is made to be temporary and only lasts until something better comes along. There's a reason newer is better, ESPECIALLY in technology. Why would you go to such extents to deliberately use something that not only is more expensive, but also objectively worse in literally every single way than anything you could get today much easier and cheaper? Don't give me the "nostalgia" excuse. I'm Gen Z, but I still remember playing cartridge games, which should literally be called pixel games because the quality was so bad. Yes, I played them at that time, but only because they were the best thing available at the time. Even then, I knew if something better came along, I would leave the cartridge games in a heartbeat. Now I am playing modern AAA titles on my gaming PC, with an HDR ultrawide monitor and mechanical keyboard etc. at high resolutions and frame rates, and there is just no comparison. There is no reason to go back to that. If you want to cherish your memories, you can do what I do, which is screenshot and screenrecord my gameplay and upload it to Google Photos and KZbin respectively. 1:09:06 This part is really cringey. I CANNOT tell you how much I adored the iPod nanos. I owned the 6th and 7th generation and I only switched the 7th because my 6th got stolen and my 7th stopped charging after a couple years. They were brilliant and the 7th even had Bluetooth! I still have it so maybe one of these days I'll get it repaired for some nostalgia.
