Please enjoy this video examining the evolution of the mostly semi-aquatic Ornithurine avians during the Cretaceous.

The story of the dinosaurs that survived is so fascinating

Surely, you jest to provoke. You must know dinosaurs are non existent, and post this Sucker Bait for the susceptibly feeble-minded. For shame.

Aside from modern ratites, gargantuavis is an example of another theropod convergently evolving with ornithomimids

Despite the fragmentary nature of most fossil birds, there is no doubt that their evolutionary success produce an explosion of diverse forms. Again, great video Doc! 🦅🪶

I was distracted throughout the video by the similarities between these early birds and Gavia immer, the common loon, among the most ancient of modern birds. The common loon is the State Bird of my home, Minnesota. I see or hear them quite frequently on the Mississippi River or in our many lakes. Thanks for the continued content on early birds. The older I get, the more I enjoy watching birds of all types.

Excellent information. Thank you for sharing. Was recently musing over the hyrax when reading on lagomorphs, as the hyrax are also, confusingly, called rock rabbits. Looking forward to your next work.

It's bizarre that hyrax are more closely related to elephants than to rabbits!

Hey Dr. Polaris, right after the evolution and the history of the Hyraxes, the Relatives of the Elephants and the Manatees, why don't you get to think of a suggestion and creating a KZbin Videos all about the about the evolution and the history of the Prehistoric Marine Reptiles called the Palaeophiidae (Palaeophis), the Extinct Marine Serpentes (Snakes) that are the relatives to the Extant File Snakes, such as Archaeophis, Palaeophis, and Pterosphenus, in the next couple of weeks to think about that one coming up next?!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍

It really interesting how aquatic environments (speacially fresh water) were less affected after the asteroid hit

Amazing how much already similar to "modern" birds were the species living almost 100 millions of years ago

Islandcontinent africa is allways such a rately covered story, wven nore so then Islandcontinent Southamerica. With almost none of the famous african fauna, from monkyes, rhinos, antilopes horses, cats or hyenas being present there.

I am mystified when people talk about placement of the legs on a bird. Surely they all connect to the pelvis! What is meant by this?

Great video. Since others are leaving suggestions, I have an obscure one: the evolution of marmots. If that's too specific, maybe the squirrel family in general. 😄
